  1. C'mon Valverde. Close this game out.
  2. 1) as a 28yo Brewer fan, I'll take being the midget team in the playoffs than putting it off for another year. If anything, it would give our guys "experience" of playing in the post-season. 2) last year all I heard was that the AL would win whoever the NL threw at them and that the Cards were the midgets. But if a team gets hot in October, they can win the whole thing no matter the talent division of the teams.

  4. Brewers 12-16 (79-83) Cubs 12-17 (80-82) Cards 15-16 (80-82) One game playoff making the NL Central winner 81-82.
  5. That displays fine for Firefox, but it looks like a bunch of boxes and jumbled letters on IE6 at work.
  6. A good analagy would be that the CEO is firing the VP of Operations to show he is moving in a different direction before the board of directors decides to get rid of the CEO. The question should be how many and which people under Yost are going to follow him.
  7. Don't feel bad. Just last Tuesday a patron asked the Designated Driver/Free Soda lady at home plate if there were cheese curds in the stadium. She replied that they weren't served there. Maybe they should promote that item more? Also, go to Gorman's Gourmet and get a Kosher Hot Dog. It's $4, but it's the size of a brat. That would be like hitting a 450 ft moon shot for your HR instead of a wall scraper.

  9. It's a swing of 2 games in .500, but in terms of standings it's only a swing of 1 game unless the game was against the other team you're racing. Winning those games would make us 58-47, but the sCrubs would still have the same record and be 4 back instead of tied. So in the standing sense, it's only a 4 game swing. We are only used to saying .500 because it's been so long since we've been +. All I care about is games ahead.
  10. I always used this rule in video games. Create a starting pitcher, but use him as a 3 inning closer. Then I can rack up about 90 saves a year.
  11. Does this open up the spot for Hall to finally move to the starting rotation?
  12. To be fair, the ball he hit yesterday was a no doubter. But I agree that I'm starting to get fed up.
  13. I don't think Weeks was trying to lay down the bunt, I think he was faking to draw the 3B in. However, when you never actually bunt the ball, it doesn't draw him in. And yes Weeks can not bunt. He has shown trouble in the past laying down a sacrafice bunt. This thread reminds me of the Can Bill Hall pitch, except the opposite.
  14. The team decides the prices, except the WS. MLB dictates to the teams how much they must charge for WS tickets. That's why they are so expensive, because MP's tickets are so cheap compared to other stadiums. MLB gets a small cut of all playoff tickets, so the team must raise them a little to cover that cost plus however much they want. MLB gets most of the WS money so they set the price super high. In my brochure the Brewers apologize for the high WS prices and explain that the price is out of their control. My brochure came. $907 for one seat plus parking. And they are moving me from section 104 to section 204. For the record, my season ticket cost $810. So if I apply it to next year's tickets, they will still owe me money back. Minus the shipping charge, which is $25.
  15. I umpire little league, and most coaches would yell at their teams for the defense the Brewers have been playing. But to look at the manager it looks like nothing is happening in the game.
  16. I was told today that I would have to pay $907 to attend the Brewers post season games. But after watching all the games this week in person, I realize that in October I will be getting a huge refund from the Brewers.
  17. I'm only high on Gross to counter all the people that somehow believe TGJ is a starting corner outfielder. I'd be much happier if Gross was a bench player next year, but don't mind if he's part of a platoon. Rickie has the OBP, but his SLG is really low. Rickie has also had a lot more PA so there is a greater chance of Gross's numbers being out of line than Rickie's.
  18. Yes, they assume HF for all games, but also assume a one game playoff. Obviously they won't both happen (since they would just to a tie breaker to decide HF). So no matter what you should recieve some of that money back. By my estimation, my bleacher seats will cost close to the full ticket value. I'll let you know latter tonight, if it's in my mailbox.
  19. I keep them in my "broken promises" collection along with my 1992 playoff tickets, my 1988 playoff tickets and my 1983 playoff tickets. For a guy who's never seen a postseason game in person I seem to have a lot of tickets.... How about the 2002 All-Star Exhibition ticket that for some reason says GAME on it? I'll be laying my money down. I started getting tickets in 01 just to go to opening day. I kept them in 02 for the All-Star Sham. I still have them just so I can go to a postseason. I will be pay my money, even if I don't think they'll make it.
  20. crud, crud, crud, crud, crud. I was really hoping he'd leave the division. As entertaining as it is to watch him blow up when losing, it's always scary he'll dominate the game. Hopefully he turns Wood/Prior on them.
  21. I don't see a problem with the team completing steps 2 and 3, I see struggles with the "hit a double" step. They wait for two outs to hit the double.
  22. I just seem to remember that he hit righty during the HR derby in Houston. I assumed he had more pop from that side. I did qualify that I didn't look at the numbers.
  23. Rule 9.02(a) Any umpire's decision which involves judgment, such as, but not limited to, whether a batted ball is fair or foul, whether a pitch is a strike or a ball, or whether a runner is safe or out, is final. No player, manager, coach or substitute shall object to any such judgment decisions. Rule 9.02(a) Comment: Players leaving their position in the field or on base, or managers or coaches leaving the bench or coaches box, to argue on BALLS AND STRIKES will not be permitted. They should be warned if they start for the plate to protest the call. If they continue, they will be ejected from the game. [this is itallicized in the rules] and Rule 9.01 (d) Each umpire has authority to disqualify any player, coach, manager or substitute for objecting to decisions or for unsportsmanlike conduct or language, and to eject such disqualified person from the playing field. If an umpire disqualifies a player while a play is in progress, the disqualification shall not take effect until no further action is possible in that play. So if a player doesn't go directly from the box to the dugout, he is in violation of the first rule. "Unsportsmanlike conduct or language" is also an ejectable offense and it is hard to think that Prince did not say some "unsportsmanlike" words. Sure, an umpire takes some naughty words from players without ejecting them, but the rule says each umpire has the authority not that he has to eject them. It was probably a case of both teams yelling at the umps for the entire series and Prince's comment made him finally snap to envoke this rule. It sucks that it was Prince and not a lesser player or an Astro but that is the chance you take every time you talk to an ump like that.
  24. Unfortunatly Sheets reminds me of Jenkins. Always getting an injury, none of which are reoccuring and none of which have anything to do with the other. But by the time the bad luck of getting hurt goes away, the production falls off because of age.
