  1. I'd probably go back further than 1992, but I digress. The point is, who cares about radio bands? I'm pretty sure that most people who are going to hate on Rocklahoma don't listen to current radio very much (at least not a traditional format radio station).
  2. I wouldn't say that I love Phish, but I dig them sometimes. As has been stated many times, Phish is not the Dead, but they have their solid moments. As for stuff other than Phish, I like a lot of the jam-ish bands (i.e. Yonder, Railroad Earth, New Monsoon, Big Wu, etc.) out there now, but for some reason Umphrey's never really did it for me. I can't stand their weird sound, but that's judging from listening to only one album and a few live performances. P.S. I also listen to Phish without using performance-enhancing drugs.
  3. I had a Miller Chill tonight, so they must be available in Wisconsin for sure now. It was pretty good, but not exactly beer-like. If you absolutely have to have beer, don't drink a Miller Chill. But if you want to have beer while at the same time having something that may kind of quench your thirst too, Chill would serve that purpose. It basically tasted like Sprite/7up with a beer aftertaste. Not too shabby.
  4. I love the website-www.millerchill.com- featuring links such as "el sign-up", "los videos", and "find la cerveza". Nice....
  5. I remember hearing about these youtube videos from Brewerfan last year, and it was promptly determined that the videos were shot from the Willy St. Co-Op in Madison. Apparently George Lucas loved the short videos, and they won some award and were aired on Spike TV on Tuesday. Anyone catch it? George Lucas selects Chad Vader...
  6. What happened with the ejections? I'm not near a radio or TV and am going by gameday and this thread.
  7. Gameday says both those outside corner pitches were balls. They should just let the computer ump.
  8. Bringing in a righty to face Jenkins? Let's go Geoff "I look like Brett Favre AND Randy Wolf" Jenkins.
  9. Wow, J.J. just won't give up that homer lead, will he?
  10. Uncle Dave Macon was a banjo player early in the 20th century. I only have two of his songs, both (and the Dock Boggs song that showed up) came from the Anthology of American Folk Music. "Way Down the Old Plank Road" is an upbeat bluegrass tune that I've heard covered by at least a couple modern day bluegrass bands.
  11. Mason Proffit- Amazing Grace (Harmonica solo) Blind Faith- Can't Find My Way Home (hopefully Braun doesn't have this problem) Allman Bros. Band- Little Martha Uncle Dave Macon- Way Down the Old Plank Road Dock Boggs- Sugar Baby Grateful Dead- Doin' that Rag Led Zeppelin- Good Times Bad Times Bob Dylan- Don't Think Twice, It's Alright Neil Young and the Band- Helpless (from the Last Waltz) Grateful Dead- Morning Dew (2-28-69)
  12. That I had to wait for the last weekend in April to get Mel Kiper out of my life for several months.
  13. She's up to 15% now...
  14. I assume Counsell was running on the play, right?
  15. Nope, tied with Jenkins for 6th. I'd prefer he were tied with Brady Clark instead.
  16. I'll admit right away that I know nothing about batting "peripheral" stats, so I have no solid idea on whether Rios was lucky last year or just put it all together. But when looking at his stats, I saw a monster increase in slugging percentage. As a rule, a .119 point slugging increase tends to be pretty tough to replicate the next year. He is young, so I don't doubt he improved, but I just feel that it's very likely that some luck or overachievement occurred last year. Somewhat arbitrarily, I'll throw out about a .450 for his natural slugging ability last year. It seems fair, it is still a large increase from the year before, yet it is more believable for a young guy. Assuming he improves again this year, but not by quite as much (he's getting into the prime years, and it's pretty unreal to project him to improve by a ton again), I'd give him another .025 points in the slugging department. On the other side, he still hasn't shown he can take a walk, so I expect his OBP to be about 40-50 points above his batting average. I'll give him the .300 that he hit last year, so an OBP of about .350 next year. That creates an amazing .825 OPS. Granted, this "study" was not scientific at all, but I could see dumb luck making it fairly accurate. Looking at his other stats, give him 20 home runs (3 more than last year) and 15 stolen bases at a little above the break-even rate, and you have another mediocre bat to throw into our outfield mess. If you're an RBI fan, throw in the 82 that he had last year, and he's almost exactly equal to Jenkins, Mench, etc. He has played some CF, but very little, so I don't know how well he could hack it there, but playing CF would make him more valuable. At the end of the day, why do we need another Jenkins/Mench/Corey Hart when we already have them on our team? EDIT: What Sam said. I would rather have a guy clearly on a rising trend than a guy who exploded out of nowhere. It seems like a lot safer bet.
  17. I think that Bush should be about as untouchable as anyone on this team right now. Because of the fact that his mainstream stats (ERA, W, etc) didn't match his awesome peripherals last year, I see no way Doug could get fair value for him. Bush will very likely be the Brewers' 2nd best starter when all is said and done next year, and I really don't want to give that up for a 26 year old who doesn't get on base too well, not to mention the fact that he didn't know how to slug until last year. Sure, he's young enough for that to have been because of added muscle/experience and stuff, but I don't think .500 is his natural slugging "ability," so he is due for a letdown next year, IMO.
  18. There had been previous talk of a possible Madison team. Is that still a possibility?
  19. I really hope that's not the case, because Suppan is nothing compared to Sheets. That's like Tony Romo pursuing Roseanne in case that whole thing with Jessica Simpson doesn't work out.
  20. Fair enough. I agree to some extent. However, I do worry about the long-term ramifications should we pay too much (money and/or years) to get him.
  21. For what it's worth, Davis has pitched 200+ innings the last 3 years. Suppan, none. He used to get 200 regularly, but now he hovers around the upper 100s. He also averages 2 or 3 less starts than Davis per year. So, basically, that's blatantly false.
  22. That's not really true. Bush had already pitched over 200 innings with an AL club, and had a career ERA around 4 with a very solid WHIP in the low 1.2 region. While Villanueva did pretty well last year, he only pitched 53.2 innings. With a sample size that small, there's a very good chance that Carlos's stats were fluky.
  23. All-nighters for paper-writing. And having the focus of a three year old.
  24. I think it had something to do with Ohka being angry when Robinson took him out once, and sort of refusing to give up the ball/showing him up a little bit.
