  1. I agree Outlander. The fact that Johnny Logan is not on there is a farce as well.
  2. OF's make about 2.2 plays per game. Go look at what hitters do over a 350 AB sample, and how different they can end up from their final 650 AB sample. That's why defensive stats aren't reliable, just not enough opportunities.
  3. Its not an opinion. Its a fact. There are mathamatical calculations used to come up with that value. Saying it is an opinion just makes it seem like its some guy randomly deciding that Tim Tebow was a better LF than Ryan Braun. WAR is made up of Batting, Defense, Base Running, Positional Adjustment and Replacement Level. If you don't like the values or the methods used to come up with a particular part, you can use your own numbers to come up with a new statistic.
  4. 14 point 3rd qtr lead vs Charlotte: Blown 5pt lead with 8 mins left vs Denver: Didn't score for 6 minutes. (scored 5 in the final 8 minutes) and lost. 14 point 4th quarter lead vs Sacramento: Scored 4 points the final 6 minutes and lost. They are abysmal. The idea that they are running end of game plays for a guy who isn't in game shape is ludicrous. As much as I want to be a Bucks fan, I may have to go the way of a late 90's/early 2000's Brewers fan and simply stop caring.
  5. Lucroy is not even close to one of your 5 best hitters, why hit him 2nd? He has a .307 OBP over 2 seasons. He's had one month (April, 2011) where he had 50 AB's and OBP'd over .326. He's not a table setter. Last year, he might've been a good choice to move up in the order when McGehee, Gomez, and Betancourt were all hitting in front of him. He has a .307 OBP hitting in front of the pitcher. He's a contact hitter that will excell in front of Braun. That's why. Actually, he has a .338 OBP hitting 8th. Its under .300 in every other spot in the lineup. He hits lefties well enough to be moved up, but hasn't hit righties in his career.

My Lineup: Morgan Weeks Braun Ramirez Hart Gamel Lucroy Gonzalez VS LHP: Hart Weeks Braun Ramirez Lucroy Gamel Gomez Gonzalez
  7. Both Fangraphs and Baseball-Reference break down their WAR calculations for you to see (offense, defense, baserunning, positional adjustments). Upton's difference was almost all due to the difference in how the two defensive systems viewed him. Ennder, what makes you skeptical that it is context, league and park neutral?
  8. Last year, their bench consisted of Counsell, Gomez, Kotsay, Kottaras and Wilson. I don't see how this years could be any *worse* with the bat than that bunch.
  9. Evans has really stepped up in this regard this season, and Bergerren is a beast on the post. What irked me the most about the MSU game was they just stopped throwing the ball into the post in the second half. UW will never have 5 guys who can go isolation and play one on one basketball. The problem is, Gasser and Brust have both completely stopped being aggressive (I don't think Brust pump faked once against MSU even though every time he caught the ball to shoot, guys were charging and jumping at him).
  10. He signed a 5 year 44 million dollar deal. If the Brewers would've signed him to that deal, people would've wanted Melvin crucified. Heck, people want to run Doug out of town for Cory Hart, who is about 2x the player Pierre is.
  11. Anyone know if they might reschedule the game on the 15th? With the Packers game at 3:30, that place is gonna be empty at 5pm.
  12. The only thing I can see in that picture is that Bo Ryan is 'bout to keel somebody. And Hawing, you must've been really close to where I was. We were 3rd row of the student section, right by MSU.
  13. The student section is behind the backboard that the opposing team heads towards in the second half. It does get pretty darn loud during opposing possessions in the second half. You just can't hear it on TV. When the lower bowl decides to make noise, it can be really, really loud. The problem is, a simple timeout stops them from making any noise (which Izzo did to perfection in the game yesterday). As an aside: Jordan Taylor finally looked like Jordan Taylor.
  14. I didn't watch the entire game. I was doing some flipping. Saw that it was close at half time. Saw the end of regulation and most of the OT. I'm not sure I would categorize it as heartbreaking. They were down by what?...7 or 8 with less than a minute to go (am I remembering that correctly?). The fact that they came within a tenth of a second from tying it and going into another overtime was somewhat of a minor miracle. If Michigan State would have lost that game, I think it would have been much more of a heart breaker for them. They were down 6 with 20 seconds left. It was a miracle they had a shot to tie. I was at the ballgame, and not even being shown a review really sucks. They easily could've put it up on the scoreboard, after the call was made, to show people (and, protect the referees from being berated). But considering the Rose Bowl, followed by that game, it was pretty disheartening few days for Wisconsin sports.
  15. Obviously, the offense was part of the blame, but so was the defense. Their inability to stop Iowa in transition really hurt them. The defense gave up 30 more points than their season average (obviously low from the horrible teams they've played thus far), and Iowa scored right at their season average, UW shouldn't be letting ANYONE score at their season average.
  16. They scored 65 points, that should be more than enough for this Wisconsin team to beat Iowa. Their defense was terrible, utterly terrible, and Jordan Taylor didn't show up at all. As an aside, I believe that was the first time (when I wasn't working there) that the Badgers lost a home game at the Kohl Center that I attended.
  17. I keep seeing that 48.5 M number, well, for 2012, the Brewers will have 4 guys making at least 43.3 M in Hart, Greinke, Weeks and Wolf. If K-Rod gets more than 9M, then that number goes up even more. It really isn't that big of a deal.
  18. Sabathia was 2008. In 2007 they went 81-81 and narrowly missed out on the division, thanks in part to our new 3B hitting a walk off winner at Wrigley.
  19. Yep, sounds like a registry problem. Check this out, straight from Microsoft.
  20. Even during the baseball season when nothing is happening regarding football, the local talk radio guys still talk Packers. Football is king in Wisconsin, and in Milwaukee. The Brewers, even 5 years ago, weren't nearly as popular as they are now. Funny what winning does to bring in the fans.
  21. He's 40. He's coming off a .714 OPS season. Gamel would out produce him at 5% the cost.
  22. David Kahn likes Point Guards. He wants to sign all of them, then make teams trade him for them.
  23. Putting this here, so as not to further clog the lineup thread: Morgan was worth 10 full runs over 200 AB compared to Gomez last year, according to Runs Created. So, even IF we account for every extra play that Gomez makes over Morgan to be a double, that means in those 50 games, Gomez would have to make 13 plays that Morgan wouldn't. Doesn't sound like a lot? Considering the average CF makes about 2.2 putouts per game, you're talking about a 10% increase. If we consider half singles and half doubles, then you're talking about a 15% increase.
  24. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Bogut scores 8 points in the first 6 minutes, then hardly touches the ball until the final minute of the game. Ridiculous.
