  1. My PS3 automatically goes to 720p if that is what the game requires and my TV will go to that resolution. One way to find out what resolution your TV is at is to hit the info button on your remote for your TV it will tell you what resolution you are in or at least all of the TV's I have owned have done this. As for MLB the Show there is an option to change how fast the pitches are simulated at in the gameplay options. Try messing with that also I noticed with my TV I have to swing really fast and I can't see where the pitch is going before I swing so I have made the ball travel slower to be able to give me more time to see where it is going. What kind of TV do you have? Lots of TV's have specific slots for their HDMI inputs for gaming as opposed to movies, this sort of automatically syncs up with the PS3 then. For example:
  2. I am 99% sure the replacement player has to be on the 40 man roster, and that you can only change the 40 man between series. It wouldn't make sense to penalize a team that didn't have anyone on the DL over Aug 31 and have them unable to replace an injured player on the roster.
  3. 1) These guys are professional athletes, comparing them to people making $50,000 a year doing the grind is just lunacy. Them giving up, or simply not trying because they don't like their manager, their teammates or they think they are getting shafted could cost them MILLIONS down the line. 2) In 2007, should the team have just left Braun on the bench because it might've upset things with the current 3B? Current clubhouse "situation"? 3) In one case, the replacement is a proven commodity, JHJ. NOW is the time to play him at SS (vs RHP) and let Green get his ABs and reps in at 2B while Weeks is out. If Green rakes, then he can take some ABs away from McGehee. 4) Can you PLEASE tell me why Hairston sitting the bench won't effect chemistry, but YuniB sitting the bench will.
  4. "But we're playing the Cardinals, and I think, as a group, the guys, they want their guys in there," -RRR on Green not starting today.
  5. It was a 1 run game that was worth 2 other regular season games, and your analogy is horrible. Bunting is not a simple skill, pitchers prove that every game, its no different than hitting, some players are WAY better at it than others. To use your analogy, it would be like the manager giving something under a time crunch to the person who doesn't really understand it, and might get it done right even though there were 3 other people who know the project, and would be much more likely to get it done correctly and on time.
  6. The time to teach YuniB how to bunt is during practice. The time to set an example is during spring training, or during April when you're up 5 against the Astros. The time to NOT do these things is in late August against the team in 2nd place in your division in a 1 run game.
  7. It took me 10 years to get my mom and sister into baseball. Now they can't get enough. There's also a huge group of women (and guys...) who go to the ballpark simply to drink and in hopes of Ryan Braun becoming smitten by them yelling 'RYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNN" for the 3 innings they are in their seats.
  8. Of course, the one night I'm not at the game.... yuku seems to be acting up!
  9. Don't most games/systems come with a method of syncing you up with the TV? I haven't really looked at much on my 360, but it does have settings for 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. All of those result in a slightly different amount of lag, but no discernible difference in picture for me. but I know guitar hero had something to sync up in the options menu.
  10. And when one of these moves loses us a game vs the Braves or the Phillies in the playoffs, what happens then?
  11. Kameron Loe should be able to get LHB's out, but he can't. Yuni should be able to bunt, but he can't. Kotsay and Gomez should be able to hit and draw walks, but he can't. These things were all known going into this season. RRR has chosen to let these players prove and re-prove these things to him time and time again. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
  12. 1) They are only using 11 pitchers now, and in the post season they will not need 5 starting pitchers. I could even see them dropping down to 10 pitchers in the post season as a result. and 2) Having an extra bat on the post season bench could keep things like CC Sabathia pinch hitting for Jeff Suppan happening. Or, y'know, George Kottaras or Craig Counsell getting a big AB.
  13. Wow, now we're going to RBI's per PA, without even accounting for when or how the situation arose that the player came up to bat? You will have less RBIs hitting behind two horrible hitters and leading off innings than hitting behind Braun and Prince. How about this: Hairston has 10 runs in 73 PA as a Brewer. That's 1 per every 7.3 PA. Yuni has 43 runs in 462 PA as a Brewer. One every 10.7 PA. So, over 600 PA, Hairston will score 82 runs, and Yuni will only score 56 runs. There, I made up a stat proving that Yuni is worse than Hairston. Betancourt is lazy on defense. He's always been lazy on defense. Watch how he fields a ball compared to how Escobar does. He fields it off the side of his body, not getting in front of it, and not getting his momentum moving towards 1B before he throws. Watch him turn a double play sometime. He doesn't know where his feet should be, and he almost always takes an extra step that most other SS do not in order to get the throw off which leads to him being taken out and making one hop throws to 1B.
  14. Yep, in my dream world it'll shift to being YuniB. Even worse.
  15. Sounds like a case of improper training, although, you'd think "If blood touched it, don't reuse it" would be the rule in the medical industry.
  16. All it takes is one GM to become enamored with the guy. See: Werth, Jason, and Lee, Carlos.
  17. The Cubs starter is horrible vs LHB, I am shocked that none of our lefties are starting, aside from Plush.
  18. I really see them only going with 10 pitchers in the post season. Estrada and Narveson would be redundant. An extra bench bat would be much more valuable than an extra pitcher, imo.
  19. I'm excited he's being called up, but, for some reason, I doubt he gets any playing time at all -- which is sad. He should be at 3B or 2B against RHP at the very least, every game until Weeks gets back.
  20. No. You see, we could NOT buy him for the next 5 weeks + playoffs. St Louis would never have let him come to us if he was healthy. We could ONLY buy him if he wasn't going to play, at all, for the next 5 weeks and the playoffs due to some injury. There is NO reward for the Brewers for claiming him. Your attitude of "Claim everyone, and hope none of them gets hurt, so the 3% chance he gets sent to the Braves doesn't happen" is just a horrible idea for a team like the Brewers to do, and would leave them no financial flexibility after one or two mistakes.
  21. I'd imagine that there will be a move made today. My guess being Dillard gets sent down and Gamel coming up. I can't imagine Weeks or Gomez being activated before Sept 1st as it will let them have a bit of additional flexibility on who to keep come playoff time.
  22. They spent 30M more than the Brewers this year. It has nothing to do with consistent and competitive, no one went to see them when they played in the Metrodome. It has to do with charging higher ticket prices in a brand new stadium.
  23. RBI's are a team function, and this magical idea that Fielder is someone who has some amazing clutch skill when last year he couldn't even top 100 RBI's last year. If you're going by RBIs, Rickie hitting 4 will at least double the RBI's he gets, and without Gomez hitting 2nd in the lineup for 2 months, he'll have even more opportunities. Gamel hitting 5th will get WAY more RBI's than McGehee has this season, as (last I checked) he was in the top 5 in the league in AB's with RISP.
  24. The difference between Gamel (say, .850 OPS with average defense) and Fielder (1.000 OPS and below average defense) is probably about 2 wins on a full season. Give or take. Carlos Santana's 2011 is probably about what we could expect from Gamel next season. Prince is at 4.2 WAR on the season, Santana is at 3.0.
