Don't tell Cubs fans that. Remember, last year was all Milton Bradley's fault. Not, y'know, their 33 year old LF who's signed through 2014 hitting .241/.303/.423/.726 and leading the league in errors.
I don't know why Delfino played so many minutes. No matter who he was guarding, his guy scored -- be it Jamison or West. Really was surpised they didn't go 3 guards down the stretch. Glad they won, but man, aside from Jennings, did the Bucks miss a TON of wide open 3's tonight.
Nilsson or Surhoff as catchers. Higuera and Moose Haas would both be in there for starters. Probably Chris Bosio as well. It's hard not to have a team with Cirillo on it, though. Really, Molly should be the DH and Cirillo the 3b, imo.
Here's a solid article on the trade value of Adrian Gonzalez. He's pretty similar to Prince, only over the next two years, Prince is getting paid about $15M more. He doesn't have *that* much surplus value compared to his contract, so you can't expect to get that big of a haul for him.
According to HoopData.com Jennings field goal percentage “at the rim” is 39.7%. That is last on the Bucks, and well below the NBA average of 60.0%. Really, his stats aren't that out of line from other PG's who were handed the keys their rookie year, to expound on nate82's post and add one more name: Jason Kidd FG%: 38.5%, 3pt%: 27%, 11.7ppg, 7.7 apg.
He did not sign Jason Kendall to a two year deal and trade for Yuni Betancourt. The Royals are exploiting the market niche by signing guys who can't field and can't hit. Dayton Moore must be last.
My normal 40 minute drive took 2 hours and 40 minutes to complete.... and I took side streets. Had I stayed on the freeway, I'd imagine it would've taken closer to 4 hours. NOTHING was moving.
47-42, and UW missed, I believe, 5 wide open 3-pointers in one posession... then proceeded to not score for the next 5 minutes. Ugh. I didn't catch the Marquette game as closely, but it just looked like they weren't moving the ball like they normally do.
They went 9-17 with Redd. Without him that means they are 15-11. I believe they're 6-3 since LRMAM has started at the 4 and he's averaging just under 10 boards a game since then. I love the deals. Building young is the only way Milwaukee is going to win. Trading young cheap talent for crappy contracts and Troy Murphy (who is only signed through next season anyway) doesn't fill a solid long term need for the Bucks. They improved a great deal this season, and got 2 extra draft picks in the process, by trading stuff they weren't going to use. They refused to trade Ilyasova and so the Murphy deal didn't go through. We took on 5 million in salary next year & a guy who will play in the Bucks rotation (if he doesn't opt out) The Rockets took on 20 million and got... draft pics and an underperforming lottery pick What this trade does is make Jennings the third option in their offense, and will hopefully give Bogut more touches and more space to set up on the block.
Blair went 37, Bucks picked Meeks at 41. As for a lack of long term thinking, by all accounts, Blair is only going to play 3-4 years, tops in the NBA, if that. He has huge questions about whether his tendonless knees can hold up.
Prince wouldn't sign a deal. He locked up Hall and that's the bane of his existence to a lot of Brewers fans. I can only imagine if Hart had accepted a deal how much worse Melvin would be in the fans eyes. The fact is, Jack Z's vaunted revamp of the farm system led the Brewers to have all of... 3 solid arms come up through the farm system before this season. Melvin HAD to spend money on relievers, or else we'd be living with guys like Joe Winklesas and Derrick Turnbow (2010 version) in the bullpen. Signing guys to 1-2 year deals to fill holes in the bullpen isn't such a terrible thing. This was the first season in DM's reign there was enough young talent to actually have some competition for bullpen spots, hopefully that will continue to happen.
Not to get too sidetracked, but I don't get why so many have dumped on the Hawkins signing. I think he is going to be a nice asset to have around this season. I agree that he'll be a good signing. I just think that with the logjam in the starting rotation & bullpen that he's an asset that the Brewers are going to end up not really needing.
The coach for the German team has said, whenever his team gets a 5 on 3 advantage, he's pulling his goalie and playing 6 on 3. I can't wait to see that.
