  1. It is pretty funny how the daytime hitting conditions only effected our players and not the other teams.
  2. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/bay-vs-cameron Great article on how 'overrated' Jason Bay is in this market and how much value you may get for a guy like Cameron. I would love to hold on to Cameron if the team can move Hart.
  3. If they can trade Hart, and free up his money, it would be like getting Cam for around $5M instead of 10M. He was paid $3.2M last year, and that will go up this year as it's his second year of Arby.
  4. 2009 Home: .195 .242 .299 .541 Road: .261 .328 .373 .701 2008 Home: .278 .305 .384 .689 Road: .236 .287 .335 .622 His OBP is just terrible. He is Juan Pierre, with a better arm in CF. If Kendall is back, that will be 3 guys who are only singles hitters back to back to back in the lineup. I can already hear the "He's fast so he should lead off" crew making noise about both Escobar and Gomez. Ugh.
  5. They can't serve Joaquin Andujar on a bun.... or can they?
  6. I'm in. I'm poor, so I'm doing what I can.
  7. Considering they make over 300 plays, it really should even out over the course of a season.
  8. Chances per week are much more determined by pitching staff (GB/FB ratio) than by how many innings a player plays. The Brewers had a pretty high FB% staff this year (not many K's and no real sinker balling starter). The evidence is in UZR, the ratings of each "Pie slice" determining that the average OF makes more plays in given parts of the field than Braun does. Here's my terrible drawing of what UZR tries to represent: http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/965/uzr.gif So, for a given type of hit (fly ball or line drive) an average LF makes the plays in each one of those zones a certain percentage of the time. Anytime an out is made, the fielder gets + runs, based on the inverse of that percentage. (An out vs a non out is .8 runs, so say the play is made 60% of the time, if the fielder makes the out, then he gets credit for .4 outs, which you can then multiply by the .8 runs/out to get the number of runs it is worth)
  9. Why is everyone so high on Buchholtz? Is he really that good? Or is he a product of the Hype Machine that is the Yankees and Red Sox media blitz? I've hunted around, but I can't seem to find an unbiased (ie: non red sox fan) scouting report on the guy.
  10. Every little bit counts, and your teeth more than anything, will thank you. Caffeine addiction is a real thing, it may not be as life altering as other substances, but it is out there.
  11. I'd think it would be the other way around... he could make 10x as much selling these if he were a Yankee or an Angel.
  12. Was out at best buy the other day and they had it set up. After me and 3 friends messing with it for 2-3 minutes each, we still had no idea how to play a note correctly. ha!
  13. That may be true, but the problem is now, the Yankee's can just tell players "Hey, we'll pay you xx million up front if you let us draft you in the 3rd round" -- when players are now deciding where they go, instead of going to the first team that wants to draft them, something is wrong. Until slot-money becomes enforced, the system will remain pretty broken.
  14. We're drawing from the set of MLB players for the data represented....not the set of every person on the planet. Those two data sets should look different.
  15. Not playing a guy because a good pitcher is on the mound, not letting him get used to the top end pitchers in MLB, not letting him get the handful of at bats against them when the chance of making a run to the playoffs is nil. Yeah, because what we need is to set them up to fail next year when they face these guys for the first time.
  16. Heard Macha on the radio the other day, he was asked flat out why he didn't play Rivera, Escobar and Gamel more. The response for Rivera (paraphrased): "Well, I played him a Monday and then a Wednesday once and then he hurt his hamstring, so I didn't want to do that again." For Gamel and Escobar, the response was the same: "I didn't want them to lose their confidence facing major league pitchers every day."
  17. I cannot stand McCarver. The guy talks to hear his own voice. What he says doesn't make sense half the time. He's like Uecker, only he isn't funny and he isn't on the radio (so he doesn't need to fill every second with his voice).
  18. It's dark out, and it's raining out. TURN ON YOUR HEADLIGHTS. How can people drive at night without turning them on. Let alone for miles.
  19. Buffalo Wild Wings & Weck was the original name. The Weck was dropped because no one knows what the heck weck is. The BW3 stuck.
  20. http://images.nymag.com/images/2/daily/2009/10/20091021_missedcall_560x375.jpg Yeah, Cano was on the bag there....
  21. Sadly, with no cable, I haven't been able to see them yet... hoping they'll pop up to download sometime soon. There won't be anything on Favre, they are trying to do the documentaries on things that have sort of slipped through the cracks, or that haven't been reported as much. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/30_for_30
  22. I don't know how bad or what a torn labrum does to a guy, but before he was shut down, Crisp was throwing the ball... well... about as well as I do left handed. Even sometimes almost under handing it back into the infield. I just don't think he's worth a $5million dollar risk when we already have Gerut for 1/10th that price.
  23. Their payroll may be less than they get from money through the turnstiles but the YES network brought in 350 million in revenue (over 11 million subscribers) for 2007, with similar numbers in the last 2 years. I'm not sure how you can call that "operating at a loss"
  24. I play ultimate frisbee, and I wear my hat backwards... the bill gets in my way of seeing the disc -- I've taught myself over the years, that my eyes can move a lot faster than my whole head when I need to make a quick glance. Why do I wear a hat at all? My head sweats, and sweat in my eyes hurts. The hat keeps that out. Plus, the other option... I'd look like this guy: http://blogs.glam.com/glamchic/files/2007/11/guy-headband.jpg
