  1. Jeffery Maier. http://mlb.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?mid=200808253345251
  2. Also two wonderful outs on the basepaths... he fits right in on this team.
  3. I seem to remember Gamel getting caught looking at strike 3 quite a bit. 3 times in one game vs the Dodgers really stood out. Going over the game logs, including that game, he K'd 8 times in his last 12 AB's, 7 of them were looking. I'm too lazy to go over all of them today. As for the deal, I'm all for it, getting rid of pieces that weren't a fit to our organization for a piece that is is always a good thing.
  4. Melvin hasn't played it conservative through arbitration. He's offered every player a long term deal to buy out a year or two of Free Agency, they've just all rejected them -- aside from Hall and Braun.
  5. My favorite part for this promotion was the thing the Brewers e-mailed me, dead center, in big bold letters: Price will not go below FREE.
  6. If he played league average defense, and you use a stat like WARP (Wins above replacement player) that includes defense. Right now, Prince is right at replacement level defense at first base (way better than 2 years ago, when he was below replacement level). Even average defense at first base would add over a win per year to his value. His defense is so much better this year, he's already surpassed his win value total from 2007, when he hit 50 bombs.
  7. 1B, on an offensive and defensive value sum total, is the easiest position to fill, by far. I mean, for example, the Cubs basically are stuck with 3 above average first basemen on their roster (Fox, Hoffpauir and Lee). Adam Dunn signed for a mere 8 million this off season. Its the easiest defensive position on the field, as a result, anyone can play it, so it gives you the widest range of talent to fill any void there. When compared to Shortstop, where there's 10 people who can play it defensively above average and can OPS over .750 in MLB.
  8. Yeah, poke fun if you must, but the last time I went to a chain place, I ended up having to go to another place to fix the damage they had done. My hair looked like I'd cut it myself. Without the use of a mirror.
  9. Prince won't sign a 3 year extension, though. He'll be 27 after 2011, and he'll be looking at 100+million dollar 5+ year deals in the FA market. As much as I'd love to see him stay, I just don't think the Brewers can compete with that.
  10. How I missed this thread initially I do not know. Next time I'll be there, BTA.
  11. So, my hair stylist who I used to drive across town for has apparently moved far away, and I'm looking for a new place to get my haircut at in the Milwaukee area, so, of course, I'm coming to BF.net for suggestions. I live on the Northwest side of town, so anywhere relatively close to there would be awesome.

  13. I'm saying, I'd much rather have a guy come out and be confident in his ability, realize he's not doing well than have a guy spouting off (truth or not) about how bad any portion of the team is.
  14. Simply saying "He sucks, get rid of him" with no one available or able to play the position anywhere CLOSE to his level. He has a .370 obp this year, that's third on the team behind Prince and Braun. I really wonder what more you expect of him.
  15. I'd much rather have a guy who says stuff like that, than a guy who says the team sucks, the pitching sucks and the gm sucks.
  16. Audacity A great program that can record whatever is coming out of your speakers if you set it up right. So you can record any streaming audio.
  17. Calling Cameron a problem at all is simply ridiculous. He's way underpaid for what he brings to the table (see Torii Hunter's contract - who is a .800 OPS CF signed for 18 million a year through 2012, and is 33 this year). Amazing defense and above average OBP and Power numbers, especially for a CF. Do you not remember watching Brady Clark play CF? Or hit?
  18. What are the Royals thinking? Lets take on salary, and pick up a no hit no field SS, and trade away young talent for it. Go Bando Go.
  19. Would like $25 per pair (face is $20/ticket). I'm on the NW side of Milwaukee, can deliver the tickets Saturday if needed, or you can pick them up. 433, Row 2, Seats5&6 PM me or e-mail me, soyenfuego@yahoo.com Edit: Got rid of two of the seats, now I'll be in the lot at about 3:30 today, so if someone wants to meet up there to claim the last two, let me know asap!
  20. So, you're saying you want to bunt in those situations, but when the grittiest battler of them all can't get a bunt down, it was the wrong move? Seems as though you're contradicting yourself. If you want to complain about sabermetrics or specific stats, complain about what you mean, don't just say 'moneyball', please. It makes it very hard to understand your arguments. Moneyball was not about how Billy Beane went after high OBP guys. It was about he went after guys who did things well that were undervalued in the market at that time, one of which at that time happened to be OBP. It was about using advanced stats to debunk certian myths and get away from certian thinking which didn't help in a high run scoring environment, which the game had transformed into. Playing for one run in the 4th inning is not a wise move when the average team scores almost 5 runs per game.
  21. If you look at them 1-9, the AL is just unbelievable. The overall strength of the roster dwindles because it seems like the AL teams have a lot of short stops in cities (Seattle Pilots, KC A's, etc) Some of the selections on the AL team are baffling to me. Not having Pudge Rodriguez on the team? His 1999 season was just mammoth for the Rangers.
  22. The 6 weeks after the ASB has the Brewers playing... I believe, 3 series against teams over .500 (2 vs San Diego, 1 vs LA), and a TON of games against the Nationals, Reds and Pirates. If the 'Crew can beat up on the dregs of the league, it could put them in great shape for September, in which anything can happen.
  23. My knee is currently swollen up to about twice normal size, I may show up, but right now I'm doubtful.
  24. How do you know these guys you encountered were ballhawks, and not just idiots at a baseball game who went too far to try to get a ball? I've had my share of experiences with being shoved, knocked down, and pushed when a ball has come into my section. That doesn't mean all of the people who went after the ball are 'ballhawks' and/or collectors. I watched my 60 year old dad get knocked down at a game last year, after he had a ball go off his hands behind home plate (section 220 or so) and a group of 6 people all dove on the ground at his feet to try to get the ball.
