  1. The Yelich extension might end up being more transformational than the trade. It's easy to forget how disgruntled much of the fanbase was back in Jan-Feb, and many of us were starting to draw up trade ideas for Yelich with the assumption that he was headed out the door.
  2. To me, Narvaez looking like Eddie Perez 2.0 is the #1 disappointment by far. But Manny Piña is making up for that. The rest of the pieces seem to be falling in place. It seems like Counsell has righted the ship.
  3. If Giannis was white would this conversation be happening?
  4. No. I put little stock into anything that happens this year.
  5. They decided to spend big on Yelich rather than Moose and Grandal. I think that was the right call. This isn’t that bad of a team overall.
  6. I would like to thank them for not tempting me to waste my time watching baseball tonight.
  7. Where did all the weekday day games go? I want some day baseball! Playing the Cubs on a Thursday and Friday would usually mean 2 more day games as well.
  8. There’s no way St Louis will actually be able to win games after sitting this long, right? The best case scenario is that they come back and lose a bunch, then the DQ from the playoffs decision will be easy.
  9. Yikes, the Nebraska situation got ugly quickly. As for the finances...watching the whole “amateurism”‘charade start to fall apart is one of the most satisfying parts of this whole ordeal. JosephC...seriously man, at this point everybody knows what number of cases are needed to reopen safely and 1,000/day ain’t it.
  10. NL DHs are hitting .213/.302/.371 Only 3 NL teams have accumulated >0 bWAR from the DH position. That said, the NL is outscoring the AL this year. And those crappy DH numbers are still twice as good as what pitchers were hitting last year. For the most part the DH is a spot to throw a replacement-level player.
  11. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/how-much-money-do-mlb-players-really-make/
  12. I can't imagine the SEC is going to cancel the fall season, but one wonders what the point of playing will be if there is no postseason.
  13. And they wonder why the average age of an MLB fan is 57. Nobody under the age of 40 can watch local MLB games.
  14. It’s becoming nearly impossible to hit MLB pitching. Most hits against good MLB pitching are just luck, the batter can do little more than guess the pitch and location. Almost all pitchers are using pine tar to get their spin rates up. Whole teams are struggling to hit .200. With all of the above, the incentive to steal signs has never been higher. I wouldn’t be surprised if almost every team is trying something...maybe not as sophisticated as the Astros but they have to do something.
  15. I wonder if that was embarrassing and predictable? Embarrassing...for the Heat.
  16. I thought it was rather impressive that the Bucks almost beat the Nets with their B-team. It was fun to watch. Giannis was really into it from the bench.
  17. Gio seems like the kind of pitcher who can help get Yelich out of his slump.
  18. This team is lacking in OBP guys so Sogard is quite valuable for that reason. I don't care if he only draws walks and hits singles if he can keep his OBP above .350.
  19. Sogard has been pretty good so far, he's one of the only Brewers who is not painful to watch at the plate. LoMo is only on the team because of the expanded roster. Smoak is the only one that I would agree with, I would have rather kept Thames around.
  20. I did NOT mean put Ryon Healy in at leadoff, but ok, whatever.
  21. Washington State has the same 5-vehicle law as Alaska, it's a must in a state where most of the 2-lane highways are in hilly or mountainous terrain. It's very difficult to pass. A really nice feature is that they have constructed paved turnouts in the problem areas with signs stating the above law. I've seen very high compliance thanks to these turnouts.
  22. This format is definitely favoring pitchers and young guys, neither of which are the strengths of this team. I'll be a little optimistic though. We haven't seen Urias yet. We have another option to try at 1B (Healy). And Narváez is a really good hitter, he will start contributing sooner rather than later.
  23. I've had enough of LoMo and Smoak, put Ryon Healy in there and see what he can do.
