  1. Fielder was called up in mid June and then sent down two weeks later. I think that was more to hit as the DH than to manipulate service time. But he had an 857 OPS when they sent him down.
  2. Too bad for Burch. He pitched well. I imagine this means he will be optioned to allow us to bring up a fresh arm tomorrow. He will be back though.
  3. I dont believe anyone has posted one yet. This is the running list i keep. I'm sure I'm missing a few but it should be relatively accurate. There are 3 I think we must keep and then 10 maybe's. This list isn't as much of an issue as it was last year, though it would not surprise me to see some of the maybe's in trades. It will change as the season goes on due to player performance. I'm sure there are prospects in the "others" that people will think we need to protect as well. Must Protect: Z.Brown, Ray, Erceg Maybe Protect: Devin Williams, Joantgel Segovia, Luis Aviles, T.Grisham, Coca, M. Sanchez, Webb, D.Brown, T.Jankins, W.Wilson Others: Tristan Archer, Nattino Diplan, Tyler Spurlin, Tucker Neuhaus, Carlos Leal, Carlos Luna, Carlos Herrera, CJ Hinjosa, Drake Owenby, Nate Griep, Max McDowell, Jake Gatewood, Nathan Kirby, Bubba Derby, Cody Ponce, Phil Bickford, Quintin Torres-Costa, Jon Olczak, N.Walters, Sibrian, J.Lujano, Pinero, Hummel, Z.Clark, N.Rodriguez, C.Roegner
  4. I think the most surprising part of this is that you learned something of use on ESPN.
  5. What are your predictions for early promotions throughout the minors? Here are my thoughts, with focus on players doing well who are old for their league (and need to be challenged more): Promotions to AAA: Griep, Belisario, Kurcz, Dillon. W. Wilson is deserving but blocked by too many IF at AAA already. Supak doing well but will get more time at AA. Promotions to AA: R. Henry, Segovia (2nd stint at A+), R. Benoit Promotions to A+: Mediavilla, Strzelecki, Witmer. Fry is deserving but is blocked by Henry/Feliciano
  6. Good Luck to Dallas. He had an incredible 2017 then fell off the cliff last year and... splashed into the ocean this year. A 125/275/179 slash line is pretty horrible this year. Although the rest of the Mudcats infield, save for Aguilar, has been equally bad. Eddie Silva is the best with a 172/262/280, which pretty much says it all. Hairston better have a really good glove cause a 145/220/157 is not gonna get it done.
  7. hopefully Freddy will continue to throw in the bullpen while Houser pitches to get that 1st inning out of the way.
  8. If he goes 4-4 he will add 100 points to his batting average. Pina >> Bandy defensively and offensively.
  9. San Antonio website shows 29 active players. 16 pitchers and 13 hitters. I guess they are well prepared for that bullpen game tonight. Do you think no one would notice if we put a few extra OFs in on defense as well? Expect to see quite a few paper moves to the rookie rosters before game time.
  10. Biggest riser: Drew Rasmussen. I also have Segovia rising fast with his new found power.
  11. I'd argue that David Freitas hangs lower than any of those guys. I dont think much of Freitas but it would be incredibly odd to make a trade for him when we didn't "need" him and then release him less than two weeks later. They did not give up much for him, but that would be a real waste of a low level prospect (Biasi)
  12. New low hanging 40 man "fruit": D.Hart, Petricka, Albers, A.Wilson, Spangenberg (in this order)
  13. I don't know. This Yelich guy is starting to look pretty good. I think the Brewers have a chance to win this trade.
  14. Erceg is really crushing it this year. 983 OPS including an encouraging 404 OBP. Its early yet, but maybe a sign things are starting to click. The brewers have Hiura, Ray, Erceg, and Dubon all knocking on the door either this year or next. That's a nice wave of hitters. Not to mention Z. Brown, Supak, and Houser.
  15. I'm excited most about the first 3. Sanchez could be a real sleeper in the bullpen. Houser could spot start or be used in late relief. And Brown could start or be this years Corbin Burnes/Woodruff out of the bullpen. Not sure what to think of Griep. Never had much press on rookie lists. I'm hopeful but don't want to get too excited. I'd group the rest as just "lottery ticket" types. Most likely not going to help, but there could be a winner in there.
  16. I cannot believe how bad that lineup looks. It should be criminal to not surround Trout with better hitters. Andrelton Simmons is the cleanup hitter? He's a good hitter for a SS, but wow.
  17. Seems like AAAA type. Never know though. If we had more LH pitching depth, I'd say we don't need him.
  18. 1 Hiura 2 Ray 3 Z. Brown 4 T.Lutz 5 Turang 6 Dubon 7 Erceg 8 Supak 9 A.Ashby 10 Stokes 11 Houser 12 B.Webb 13 Nottingham 14 Diplan 15 P. Henry 16 Gatewood 17 M.Feliciano 18 T.Taylor 19 Carlos Rodriguez 20 McClanahan 21 T.Grisham 22 D. Brown 23 Je'Von Ward 24 Torres-Costa 25 Leugim Castillo 26 C.Lemons 27 K.Howell 28 Roegner 29 D. Williams 30 C. Andrews 31 M. Bello 32 J.Gray Jr 33 P.Abreu 34 A. Melendez 35 B.Derby 36 Bickford 37 Jankins 38 Jolon Zhao 39 Olczak 40 M.Sanchez 41 W. Salaman 42 M.McDowell 43 Ponce 44 Bowden Francis 45 Y.Coca 46 D.Fry 47 S. Sunitsch 48 Vassalotti 49 Whitmer 50 Kirby 51 J.Hager 52 L. Aviles 53 J. Segovia 54 Wilkerson 55 Alex Hall 56 J. Lujano 57 Hintzen 58 J. Matulovich 59 E. Silva 60 Jess Williams 61 Max Lazar 62 Z. Clark 63 J.Jarvis 64 Larry Ernesto 65 Eduarqui Fernandez 66 Eduardo Garcia 67 Ernesto Martinez Jr. 68 Branlyn Jaraba 69 D.Rasmussen 70 A. Pinero 71 R.Olson 72 J. Sibrian
  19. Bickford to Rookie league? Does he have some injury right now or is this just a taxi squad maneuver?
  20. Wow. I can name 6 or pitchers at AA I would release before Harber. Must be more to this story.
  21. Or make him a coach in the future as we did with another backup C with pennant drive heroics (e.g. Ned Yost)
  22. I would put Alex Wilson in that group. Possibly Taylor Williams, but I’m a little leery about him. He would probably be a guy to come in to put the fire out in the 6th for the starter and hopefully get through the 7th unscathed to get it to the backend guys like Hader, Claudio, and Wilson. Once Fields is up, I think he will be a backend guy as well. I'm a big fan of Taylor Williams and would hope he can be the late inning reliever we need. He got absolutely destroyed by lefties last year (1057 OPS), but was dominant vs RH's (567 OPS). Hopefully that's a small sample issue and not a trend. He wont be able to last long in that role with splits like that.
  23. Looks like they at least got an equivalent return in Hinojosa. They gave up IF Wendell Rijo to get Kratz last season, and CJ looks to be equal or better than him.
