I apologize if this has been addressed already (I did re-read the last few pages), but what's the rule on playoff injuries? (Not his eligibility, I know YoGa's eligible.) For example, say we submit our playoff roster with Gallardo on it, and then he suffers a setback. Can we replace him once the playoffs start? Or are we effectively down to 24 players the rest of the way?

Baseball Prospectus gives the Astros a 0.3% chance of making the playoffs. It gives the Brewers a 93% chance.

One simulated game after 4 months of general activity does not equal ready to go - or even near ready necessarily. Absolute best we can hope for is a bullpen role by the end of the month, and even then there's a nice probability he'll be a little shaky. Still exciting though.

I just got a Samsung Glyde and it works great - but I too wanted a blackberry. $30 was too much for me though. I thought the Glyde was the closest thing - a flat phone and a full keyboard. I was iffy on the touch screen and wasn't a big fan of the slide out keyboard, but its actually really nice. I've had it ~two weeks, verizon is my provider.

Less liners, more pop-ups, less flyballs, and less of those flyballs are leaving the yard. And BABIP has nothing to do with it. I don't think I can get splits on batted ball stats, but I don't think its just isolated to April. August has actually been his worst SLG month, and he's only had two months in which he approached his SLG number from all of last season. I do think he'll bounce back to somewhere between 2007 and 2008 next year, but I think the slugging brownout could be more than just noise.

Basically anywhere, you'll find parking. You shouldn't have to pay more than $20 even if you are across the street from the stadium. I usually use the lot across the street on the northwest corner of the stadium, right near lcbj's. Its a bank parking lot I believe.

Hardy is too much of a unique talent. Not saying I don't love Hardy too, but a 50 home run season by our only good LH bat is pretty unique too.

A little against the spirit of the thread, but I think the easiest and best solution is to get Sheets back in a four year deal. I don't care how much, just as long as its only 4 years or less. If we are planning on seriously competing next season, I think we are an offseason too early to trade away our bats and expect the young AA guys to produce effectively in the bigs. The only real way to throw out a playoff calibur rotation would be to trade from the minors or retain Sheets. If we trade from the minors, we really risk killing our post-Fielder window. I don't think Sheets salary would hinder our future team's ability to compete nearly as much, even if he fails to meet expectations. We still have the pre-arby players regardless, plus Braun and maybe another guy inked long term, as an offensive core. Extending Sheets instead of trading from the minors also means we can still trade guys like Hardy, Weeks, and Fielder the following offseason and have replacements in place. In 2010 we can target another top young arm, as well as possibly seeing Jeffress debut that season.
