  1. CHERRY COKE
  2. So what you're saying is our bullpen is going to blow next year. And please don't tell me one of Melvin's nuggets will pan out and it will be fine. They better spend some money on good bullpen pitchers or this team is screwed. Yeah, I do think with Melvin we'll never have an up-and-down great bullpen. That doesn't mean we can't have a solid one, if Melvin hits on a guy or two or young guys preform. McClung, Stetter, or Bray could be options. Rather than throw $6 million out for a reliever, I'll bet one of those three will end up matching whatever he would do, and I think Melvin is a guy that'll make that bet too. Closer is the scarier position. We aren't going to be able to afford Cordero, nor any top FA closers. So I think Melvin has to find one in a trade and he sure better.
  3. $5 actually sounds pretty fair to me. I think it sounds really cool. Maybe Ned Yost can take a poll of the audience on his bullpen decisions.
  4. You can pretty much throw out all big name options for the Brewers, especially at closer. For the bullpen, I'm guessing we'll see two or three of Melvin's nuggets to chuck at the wall, as well as aquiring a younger "non-closer" (as in a guy who's never closed but could) or an undervalued late bloomer to compete for the closer role with Turnbow and maybe McClung if he has a good spring. (BTW, I hadn't checked on Thatcher in a while - 0.64 ERA in 14 IP and very good secondary stats...)
  5. I like Clement, but I'd rather have pitcher Tony Butler (Oak Creek HS) or better yet pitcher Ryan Feierabend. I could actually live with this trade...
  6. Not suprising. I wouldn't be shocked if he ends up across the bay. Maybe Anaheim would be a good fit.
  7. That's great news. I love this thread.
  8. I love the powder blue. You know what could save those Ray jerseys? Pinstripes...you think?
  9. Shudder at the thought of a Hall - Gwynn - Hart outfield next year... Not all bad I suppose, decent defensive upgrade.
  10. This season, management was dead set on Hall being a CFer and only a CFer because of the difficulty of the position change. However, with a year under his belt and Hall becoming close to average out there, I wonder if they'll be more flexibilty next season on where he plays. I guess I'm suggesting that Hall be considered a "super-starter" again, and log time at both CF and all around the IF. When Hall is in the IF, Hart can slide over to CF and we lose nothing out there. I don't see Braun moving, at least not yet, and Hall as a full-time LFer might be worse than making him a super-sub. I think sending him back to a super-starter role now with CF in his arsenal of glovework would be the most valuable to the team. Great topic.
  11. Jeez. We need green in baseball, not more blue. And what font is that, Times New Roman? How original! BLAH!
  12. Congrats, big time! A few guesses on the name you might choose: Manyan Russ Jr. Tangotiger Opee S. Luzinski Yovanni Vorp Wendy Like any of those? I'm partial to Tangotiger myself.
  13. I'd say its a longshot, but this would be like Christmas to see them forced to replay...
  14. How awesome would it be if they did get stripped of a win though...
  15. He could use 162 different lineups, I wouldn't care. Big fuss over basically nothing, when people critize Yost because of it.
  16. I wasn't there, but I'm willing to bet you weren't booted just because you argued Sheets was having a down year...
  17. I think so, but its still a very good year when he's been in there. His FIP this season is 4.08, worse than his last three seasons of 2.80, 3.49, 2.48. His K rate and BB rate are both worse than his career averages and his K/BB ratio is his worst since 2002. However, I'm not worried about him too much, I'm sure he'll bounce back next season.
  18. Gotta love the Fall Leagues, those are a hitters paradise!
  19. I didn't see enough sports when I was in Great Britian. I wanted to see a gaelic football game. I also kissed the Blarney Stone. You have to hang half your body over the ledge like 7 stories up just to reach it. Scary!
  20. Maybe if he wasn't a lefty, he could be a nice backup OFer with some okay upside if he had to step in and start. But the last thing this team needs is another low OBP guy - I'll pass.
  21. To pile on, I walked into the sports bar this evening and the first audio I heard was from the TV on the wall and went, "Estrada swings at the first pitch, a fly ball to center, two outs." He's starting to drive me nuts.
  22. I'm holding out for a player/manger position with part ownership and revenue sharing...
  23. How many leagues are you in, brewers255?
  24. Introduction to the Earth? You've been here 18 years now, I think you're long past introductions.
