  1. brett anderson threw off the mound recently.
  2. craig counsell thinks that yardley will just have to serve the minimum 10 days.
  3. david stearns expects robertson to go more than the minimum 7 days on the injured list.
  4. a minor league rehab assignment for josh lindblom is likely to start this week.
  5. that's exactly what happened. and i'm hard-pressed to remember the brewers ever making such a move. it's also worth noting that every other player on the injured list is earning major league salary and accumulating service time, and the brewers are obviously paying the major league salaries of the 26 active guys.
  6. clearly, with an opt-out date just before the class aaa minor league season starts, zimmermann is telling the brewers that he has no desire to pitch for the nashville sounds on minor league assignment. of course, he can change his mind, but it's pretty clear that it's brewers or retire. if he's designated for assignment, i'd be shocked to see an outright attempt to nashville. he'll be released.
  7. presumably, with the minor league season starting tuesday, mlb clubs will no longer be carrying taxi squads on road trips. notable in that the brewers fly to philadelphia after today's game to start a seven game roadtrip.
  8. you didn't predict the corresponding roster move, but assuming that it's optioning bettinger, he would have to remain on optional assignment for 10 days . . . and there would be no other pitcher on the 40-man eligible for recall. the brewers still have seven more games to play before a day off . . . so someone needs to take burnes' spot again friday. if not bettinger, who?
  9. cain might be activated tomorrow.
  10. yelich might be activated tomorrow.
  11. in an unusual move, the brewers recalled a player (dylan file) on optional assignment and immediately placed him on the 60-day injured list. file will begin to earn major league salary and major league service time. this created a spot for the re-acquired jacob nottingham. nottingham is out of minor league options, but has never been outrighted to the minor leagues. thus, he cannot refuse a minor league assignment if he happens to clear outright waivers. the 40-man roster is at capacity.
  12. dylan file didn't sustain his injury during major league camp, having never appeared in an exhibition game for the club, and thus, the brewers were able to place him on optional assignment instead of the major league injured list. they can choose to place file on the 60-day injured list to open up a roster spot, but it comes at the expense of major league pay and accrued service time. the brewers are willing to give file the service time and pay. he's been recalled and placed on the 60-day injured list to open up a roster spot for re-acquired jacob nottingham.
  13. rhp paxton schultz is being sent to the blue jays to complete this trade.
  14. he had been optioned yesterday. he was eligible for recall as the corresponding move was an injured list placement.
  15. right shoulder strain, retroactive to 30 april.
  16. it's even more complicated now for class aaa nashville.
  17. mlb clubs are allowed to backdate 10-day injured list placements by up to three days. yelich was backdated to 14 april.
  18. as we know, justin topa was shut down at the end of spring training with a right tendon flexor strain. he has been in arizona doing rehab, but has yet to begin throwing. topa is on the 60-day injured list. he potentially could return in the second half.
  19. this article may help fans better understand the extent of brewers' injuries.
  20. meet pablo reyes, emergency catcher.
  21. mark mathias is still undergoing non-surgical rehab. potentially returning late june or july.
  22. daniel robertson is getting better each day. still no timetable for his return.
  23. dylan file began a throwing program late this month. still at least a month or two away from returning.
  24. derek fisher had been seeing some action at the alternate training site. he is expected to start a 20-day minor league rehab assignment when the season opens up tuesday.
  25. after seeing action in minor league spring training, tim lopes is expected to start a 20-day minor league rehab assignment when the season opens up tuesday.
