  1. hiura drew his first walk last night.
  2. these players have been returned to arizona for minor league spring training. presumably, they are still part of the collective player pool, but are ineligible for the big league roster for the month of april, as they are no longer working out in grand chute: aaron ashby bowden francis garrett mitchell ethan small brice turang full list of minor leaguers working out in arizona spring training found here.
  3. 10-day injured list for lorenzo cain.
  4. tyrone taylor has been recalled from the alternate training site in grand chute.
  5. nothing for 2022 reported. shaw should hit his six years of service and be eligible for free agency after this season.
  6. confirmation of the above in that newly signed players cannot immediately join their clubs. i hope that strange-gordon traveled to wisconsin as quickly as possible. he'll either join the team monday in milwaukee (if jace peterson is just a stopgap who is likely to clear outright waivers) or he'll join the alternate training site roster in grand chute.
  7. 10-day injured list for kolten wong. if he is to serve the minimum of 10 days and participate in a minor league rehab assignment, it would not be during the official minor league season. he could rehab at the alternate training site in grand chute, or be assigned to minor league spring training in arizona.
  8. presumably, jace peterson was part of taxi squad 1.0.
  9. kolten wong is placed on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain. jace peterson has his contract selected by the brewers. he is out of minor league options, and has been outrighted to the minor leagues before. to make room on the 40-man roster, bobby wahl was transferred to the 60-day injured list. the 40-man roster remains at capacity.
  10. yep. bobby wahl transferred to the 60-day injured list.
  11. jace peterson is having his contract selected. he is out of options.
  12. it made me laugh that your username sounded like "moot sports fan" in my head.
  13. four nationals players were removed from the special covid-19 related injured list and returned to the active roster. three were optioned. the fourth, cody wilson (who was not on the 40-man roster prior to the outbreak), is listed as being returned to the nationals alternate training site. no outrighting, just a return. as suspected, it's not an outright assignment.
  14. rather than starting the service clock on file, the brewers are more likely to review the remaining guys on the 10-day injured list to see if any of them can be transferred to the 60-day injured list, or see if any of those guys can be activated and then designated for assignment. but it's a reminder that file is currently taking up a 40-man spot with no value whatsoever to the team.
  15. could a transfer to the 60-day injured list be forthcoming to open up a roster spot?
  16. yes, but because he didn't sustain the injury during major league camp, the brewers are not obligated to place him on the major league injured list. they can choose to do so, but it comes at the expense of major league pay and accrued service time. a reminder that if a 40-man roster spot is needed, the brewers could recall dylan file (not to report) and place him on the 60-day injured list.
  17. it's unclear how long it takes a guy to clear intake, and it's my understanding that only players that are part of the taxi squad are eligible for activation on road trips. the brewers continue to be secretive about their taxi squad rosters, and i'm convinced that they bargained with the beat writers to refrain from reporting sightings. having said that, the brewers do not have any infielders on optional assignment on their 40-man roster. if they're carrying an infielder on their taxi squad (why wouldn't they?), it's gotta be a non-roster player such as jace peterson or pablo reyes. peterson is out of options, reyes is not. unless mlb is allowing exceptions provided the club has hit the 85% vaccination rate, which eases protocols? if they haven't, maybe this roster management conundrum will make some rethink their stance on refusing to be vaccinated.
  18. i blame president's day.
  19. notable in that the brewers do not have any infield depth on optional assignment at the moment. also notable in that reyes has already cleared intake, and it's very likely that he traveled with the team as part of their taxi squad. a 40-man roster spot would have to be vacated to add reyes.
  20. cain is in today's starting lineup after missing three games.
  21. fans are allowed in grand chute to watch the alternate training site roster starting monday.
  22. lorenzo cain is sidelined by an oblique issue. the club is trying to avoid worsening it by keeping him out of the starting lineup.
  23. so, this begs the question . . . was brad boxberger in chicago yesterday with a taxi squad, or is he coming down from the temporary alternate training site in milwaukee because there was no taxi squad? if it's the former, is someone else coming down from milwaukee to replace him on the taxi squad?
  24. newly acquired patrick weigel, who spent time recovering from tommy john surgery, might not be out of options if he spends more than 20 days on optional assignment in 2021. the club may be able to petition mlb to grant him a fourth option in 2022.
  25. and there we have it. weigel has one option remaining, but the brewers might be able to petition for a fourth option if he burns his third in 2021.
