  1. two consecutive days of batting cage action for yelich.
  2. the brewers expect anderson to be out longer than 10 days.
  3. the brewers selected the contract of zack godley. he is out of minor league options and has been outrighted to the minor leagues before. to make room on the 40-man roster, phil bickford (on optional assignment) was designated for assignment. the brewers have seven days to trade, release, or try to outright bickford to the minor leagues. the 40-man roster is at capacity.
  4. corey ray has been optioned to the alternate training site to make room for zack godley.
  5. phil bickford has been designated for assignment. the brewers have seven days to trade, release, or try to outright bickford to the minor leagues.
  6. bumping this in case you've been wondering how derek fisher has been progressing. i don't recall seeing the article ron robinson's beard mentioned.
  7. it would certainly be a grey area, and it could most certainly lead to legal challenges (and definitely a grievance from the mlb players association), but do you think clubs are factoring in vaccination when making their decisions on taxi squads, player recalls and player contract selections? in other words, being vaccinated helps give you the inside track on a promotion from the alternate training site. i know that no club would admit to doing this, but they are going to know who's vaccinated and who isn't.
  8. no, because godley is still a non-roster player. expect an announcement soon.
  9. tyrone taylor is certainly making things hard for the brewers when it comes to roster crunch time. until then, let the man hit.
  10. not necessarily. they could know sooner. the club has up to seven days to outright, trade or release the dfa'd player. sometimes, they move faster.
  11. my understanding is that the player needs to be outrighted by the 7th day, which means that the placement on irrevocable outright waivers must start by the 5th day, in order to allow the player to be potentially clear said waivers and be outrighted by the 7th day.
  12. corey ray, after being optioned yesterday, has been recalled again as the corresponding move to an injured list placement.
  13. better to play it safe. i'm hard-pressed to recall the last time the brewers used the 7-day injured list for concussion symptoms (other than erick almonte in 2011). the move is retroactive to 26 april.
  14. incorrect on the first part. it takes 48 hours for a player to clear outright waivers, once he's been placed on outright waivers--which means other teams have 48 hours to put in a claim. the club has seven days to decide if they want to place the player on outright waivers, trade him, or release him. you are correct in assessing that nottingham would be eligible to refuse any subsequent outright assignment if he happens to clear outright waivers the first time.
  15. we now know that luke maile has been on at least one taxi squad.
  16. it's not that simple. nottingham would have had to cleared outright waivers, and then there would have to be a 40-man spot opened for nottingham. the 40-man is at capacity.
  17. phil bickford has been optioned to the alternate training site.
  18. he has been recalled from the alternate training site and will be making his brewers debut.
  19. 2011 non-roster invitee erick almonte took a throw to the head during batting practice from teammate craig counsell, and was the first mlb player to be placed on the 7-day disabled list for concussion symptoms. and tim_unroe even spelled his name correctly!
  20. without looking it up, who can name the first mlb player to be placed on the 7-day disabled list (now injured list) for concussion protocols? hint: he was a brewer at the time.
  21. the brewers selected the contract of pablo reyes. he has two minor league options remaining. to make room on the 26-man roster, corey ray was placed on optional assignment to the alternate training site. ray must spend the requisite 10 days on optional assignment unless replacing an injured player. he would also be eligible as the 27th man in a doubleheader or to replace a player on a temporary leave list. the 40-man roster is at capacity.
  22. we now know that pablo reyes was part of taxi squad 2.0.
  23. pablo reyes was not on the 40-man roster, so he was not recalled. he had his contract selected. reyes has two minor league options remaining.
  24. in light of injuries to starting outfielders, a report that the brewers were checking to see if braun would return to the team . . .
  25. the brewers remain 5th after week three.
