  1. Oh, no you di'n't! Ferris is The Godfather of crappy 80s teen movies. A film to be dissected and lines memorized while there are still men who gather together to drink. Shame on you!
  2. Well that officially sucks. There might not be that many of us left that see him as a valuable part of the Crew's future rather than a trading chip - get well soon, Corey....
  3. I can remember a whole bunch of posts around this time last year criticizing Melvin for the CC trade and how LaPorta was too big of a chip to include in a deal for a 3 month rental. Then we get Wonder CC and all is forgotten again. This isn't the deal we were hoping for, but a 170-something post thread about essentially a warm body for nothing trade seems excessive to me. As much as Halladay to the Brewers sounds nice, I don't see him waiving his full no-trade clause to come here. Does anyone on this board? I guess I have 2 questions. If Rottino wasn't a local boy would anyone care that a guy we already DFA'd was traded for a guy we already DFA'd? And if Gamel had knocked the snot out of the ball in his short spell in the bigs, would the same number of posters be clamoring for him to be included in blockbuster deals?
  4. The Jose Capellan Experience? I'm sure I saw them at the Cactus Club once!
  5. Character aside, to not have a category leader present in the hall, seems like a mistake. I'd have a lot less of a problem with Rose getting in than I would, say a Bonds or Clemens. But then, even Gaylord Perry wasn't entirely clean and he's in. As a man, I don't have to like Pete Rose (and i don't!), but as a ballplayer, his achievements merit inclusion. His problem would appear to be that not only did he lie, but he can't remember WHEN he lies and when he subsequently denies comments he made that were the truth!
  6. As a former so-called "Yost Apologist" take my comments how you will. For me, leaving all the other dubious (and in some cases, ridiculous) Macha decisions aside, one comment stands out. To bring up Dillard, then rip on him (and I'm paraphrasing) for not having enough pitches to get Major League hitters out is outrageous. Hmmm, let's see, the next time Dillard pitches is he thinking "I deserve to be here" or is he thinking "even my manager doesn't think I can do this"? Yost might have been a lightning rod to many, but for the most part, he had his guy's backs. Macha already sounds like a man looking to deflect blame, be it to Melvin for not giving him the bullets, or the players for letting him down.
  7. Even though I know it was innocently phrased, the bolded section is the part of the sentence that caused me to spray coffee all over the keyboard!
  8. How about RSLMSL, KIESCH or OOVRBY to remind you of heroes from the past? Hehe.
  9. Jonnt at Rico's Swinging Door on Michigan is awesome. Quality, affordable haircut and the guy can conduct an interesting conversation without asking if you are "going anywhere on vacation this year"! It's downtown, but there's gotta be a downside somewhere or everyone would go!
  10. POD-sednik is gonna drive me crazy all afternoon, I can tell. How do PBP guys not know how to pronounce his name after all these years in the bigs?
  11. Unless said bottle thrower had his wallet out to pay for the repairs to my car, he's getting his ass kicked...
  12. "Whaddya mean I'm not a little teapot - here's my handle, here's my.......other handle. Aw, man!"
  13. Y'know that 4 cornered pointy hat with a tassle on it that graduates wear? That will be more intelligent than Joe Morgan...
  14. I'm probably the only guy I've ever seen at MP with a 55 Kieschnick jersey on. I knew when I was getting one, that I wanted one of my heroes, who would never let me down by leaving the Crew and joining the Yanks or Cubs, so the Tool Shed's jersey seemed the natural choice! Great interview, Todd. Nice to see some props for Milwaukee, and also for Yost, who according to some here, had no redeeming qualities...
  15. All I know is that HY's conduct in all of this tells me everything I need to know about him as a person. And I'm sorry to say, the tacit approval for his actions by some on this site, in some ways, does the same...
  16. My favorite quote on his entire website is this one regarding Danny Gokey. "Good luck Danny, make Milwaukee proud"... Nuff said.
  17. Having taken time, that I'm never getting back, to read his blog I'm now convinced of two things. 1. He's self-absorbed and self-serving with no apparent comprehension of how this affair makes him appear. 2. We can forget any kind of national media support or sympathy for the Brewers for a while (such that it was). Some of his comments "infamous Chris Coughlan", "The hero of the day, the almighty ballplayer, the noble sultan of swing", "very convincing little fella. All mind games but very convincing", lead me to the conclusion that not exactly a wronged fan, more an arrogant shyster and a bad ambassador for the club and city. There was a right way to do this. Happy Youngster struck out big time, in my opinion...
  18. It's times like these that make me almost pine for the ridiculous Cubfan habit of throwing back opposing HR balls. Think of how much less debate about Milwaukee "classiness" would be going on right about now.
  19. Simple solution, but one which in a million years they'd never do - don't sell alcohol in Miller Park (ironic, I know). Don't allow people visibly drunk into the ballpark. Have security eject anyone deliberately baiting the home fans. Shoot anyone in a Cubs jersey. Truth is, too many people stand to gain from heightened rivalries to want to do much about it. It's sad though, that people will stop taking kids to big games because of the frat boys with a sense of drunken entitlement.
  20. Surely the whole "I didn't know what was in the prescribed medicine" defense died with the Cream and the Clear, didn't it? Especially given the heightened sense of care that professional athletes have to have these days. I know a guy who competes in nickel and dime Triathlon events and who reads EVERY SINGLE ingredient list of every drink or piece of food he puts in his mouth. For a high profile athlete like Manny to claim ignorance is disingenuous at best, dishonest at worst.
  21. I hear ya - I have the same question every time I see NASCAR on!
  22. We did Vegas back in February for a DJ Convention. The event was at the Riviera, but we stayed at the MGM Grand, and I'm glad we did. The Riv is a hotel in Vegas, the MGM is a Vegas Hotel. Didn't do a lot of gambling in the hotel ($10 minimums will do that for you), but we sampled a few of the strip amenities. The Breakfast buffet in the Bellagio for $16 is just insanely good, and the steaks we had at Circus Circus are the best I've ever had. Plus, the Beatles Cirque show, Love, at the Mirage, was quite simply worth every penny of the slightly discounted $120 we paid. Whether you are a huge fan or not, sonically it's the most gorgeous thing I've ever heard - courtesy of the 6500 speakers in the theatre. That, and the Chihuly glass ceiling in the Bellagio foyer will stay long after the memories of losing at the tables have long gone.
  23. My one criticism of the game last night was that "Hells Bells" needs to be louder. That opening BONG should reverberate around the stadium to really get the crowd going, I think. Other than that, what a fun game - and Coffey Time was hilarious!
  24. I second the Nite Owl. Just typing the words "Nite Owl" raises your cholesterol levels!
