  1. You've obviously never been in Wrigley when the Cubs are down big. It's just as bad - and they are supposedly "the best fans in baseball" according to some.
  2. True. Remember, Russ, a pessimist is never disappointed. Some of us still believe. Not hope, believe. I mean, if (and it's a big if) we win tomorrow, that's 6-5 over the last 11. Who would have been heartbroken with 6-5 against the Cards, Stros and Cubs? Not many, yet the ledge is mighty crowded at the moment...
  3. I've never quite fathomed the appeal of standing in line for an hour and paying money for the ability to feel nauseous, but each to their own, I was at both games this week and I still feel sick! My family swears by Dramamine also.
  4. A true fan is one, who, if he can't go, sells his tickets at face value to a Brewer fan. Anyone else is siding with the terrorists! ;-)
  5. Re: Crowd behavior and turning on players. It's simple. Some Brewer fans, just like some people in general, are bags o' douche.
  6. And if you think that helping to tip the crowd balance from Brewers fans to Cubs fans doesn't affect how well the team does then you're wrong... There's a reason they call it "home field advantage".
  7. Hey, this is America. It's a free market economy. (Insert any other justification here) To paraphrase Greg Lake, "the gifts we get, we deserve"...
  8. I was at the game tonight, sat in front of some of the least educated Cubs fans ever (why isn't Sosa in the Hall of Fame, anyone?). That said, they obviously have money because the teenage girl said "daddy can we come tomorrow night?" and pops replied "I'm sure we can find someone to sell us their tickets". Justify it anyway you want, season ticket holders, but if we are getting 35,000 in for non-Cubs games then a shedload of "fans" are coining in and selling theirs to Cubs fans, judging by the number at the game tonight. Enjoy the cash, and revel in the resultant lack of a home field advantage while you blame someone on the field for failing to do their part...
  9. Now THAT'S a movie I wish I'd taken a shotgun to!
  10. I'm not entirely sure, but my recollection is that Chad Moeller caught that game. Was Estrada with us that season? Estrada was playing for the Braves then (and got whiffed by Big Ben more than once that game, if I recall correctly). Of course. Hence his "considerably lighter" ass being in view! I was so focused on Sheets that day, I forgot we were playing against someone!
  11. Where's Zapruder when you need him? I love the double standard about this whole debate. A young player doesn't get to preen because he hasn't earned the respect that comes with experience, yet if they have experience we get the whole "act like you've been there before" complaint. Again, slow news day, Yost-wise, so we have 11 pages of physics and ethics discussions about the game we all love (Mr. Braun included!)

  13. I wonder how much of this non-issue is down to the fact that it's hard to razz on Yost too much, what with having the second best record in the National League. Bill and Brian just happen to be the dog greeting some at the door after a bad day at work.
  14. Sometimes comments on this board are just borderline ridiculous (spelled correctly). It's his job to inform us what is going on. Sure, there is a superstition about not talking to the pitcher, but when did any of us start playing for the crew, since that's the ONLY context in which this stupid tradition is acceptable IMO? Not everyone watching is as knowledgeable as the collective Brewerfan.net brain. It's not like he shouts "hey, kids, Santa doesn't really exist, and it's really your folks that hide all those eggs at Easter time, so forget about the Easter Bunny too!". Bottom line is, some here don't like him and any stick to beat him with will suffice. I mean, Brian and Bill keep mentioning the consecutive HR streak and we keep extending it. Maybe the ridiculous superstition franchise didn't get the "no-talking about Fight Club" memo for that record...

  20. If this upsets LaRussa enough to have him give us a free base next time we meet after Braun gets plunked, then I just hope Prince or Corey is able to drive Ryan in and really show what a stupid "tradition" that is!
  21. http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e304/BigRedRobbo/jjhardy.jpg Damn you and your prison mustache Sal Fasano!
  22. It'll be a fun 3 months, but that's all it'll be. Sorry.
  23. If having grilled cheese and tomato soup after a certain age is wrong, then I don't want to be right!. That's blasphemy!
  24. Good post. Ironically, that "some point in May" is pretty much right after the Boston series that Yost was lucky to survive, per some on this board. Hypothetically, had Simmons, Kremblas or some other ABY taken over, by now many would be crediting them with turning the team around! Since that managerial change obviously didn't happen, who gets the credit? Yost? The players? Don't worry, it's rhetorical - I know already what the answer is...
