  1. Is it Russell Branyan? Ooops, my bad. I'm just in "the answer to every question must be Russell Branyan" mode!
  2. One reason the Cubs won't go all the way. Your Milwaukee Brewers.
  3. You might want to mention that his next AB shattered a bat, of which a piece flew through the air, hitting you in the same spot, thus stemming all bleeding and allowing you to watch the rest of his magnificence!
  4. After todays game, I believe that Bush has genuine balls!
  5. A few things about the IGT today. First, booing (unless directed at G.Sheffield) is dumb. Period. Second, it's easy to be pessimistic. After all, you'll either be proved correct with a negative prediction, or your team will prove you wrong by winning. Win/win. Finally, let's stop with the superstition surrounding a no hitter. We're adults, people, not 6 year olds believing in the tooth fairy and Santy Claus! Unless it can be proved that Branyan is both (at this stage, I'm not sure he isn't!)
  6. Or, better yet, a Zambrano meltdown leading to a Cubs loss!
  7. It's either "Work That Body" by Diana Ross or "Macho Man" by the Village People, I just can't decide which! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  8. Great interview with Braun (as always). Talked about how much stress is off his shoulders with the big contract, and (among other things) how much he enjoys playing for Yost. Paraphrasing he said "he's our guy, and a big part of why we turned things around after a shaky start". I realize that he's hardly likely to say otherwise, but I'm more likely to believe him than some hack like Justice, when it comes to team chemistry. More than that, I'm glad I get to watch him in Brewer blue for years to come.
  9. I'd give Hank (with a silent "W") slightly more credence had he made this statement at any other point, say, when a Yankees starting pitcher HADN'T just gotten injured running the bases. Rule changes are only applicable when they positively affect the Yanks. It's like the whole tree falling in the forest analogy. If something happens, and it doesn't affect the Yankees, did it really happen? Besides, does that mean that we have to have a "designated backing up 1st base" position for all comebackers hit towards 1st in the AL, just in case one hurts themselves covering the bag? I say the AL should embrace the 19th century and do away with the DH!
  10. Maybe this explains why he was so pissed at the contract the Crew offered, knowing this was in the background. I must admit to thinking "you'll get yours, Big Fella, why so desperate?" The IRS chasing you makes you desperate I guess...
  11. Just for a change, the next time a "non-standard" Brewers lineup is announced, can we please have a moratorium on either of the phrases "I just threw up in my mouth a little" and "game over". It's getting really old and, from what I've seen, we tend to do pretty well anyway...
  12. Maybe Steinbrenner should, you know, instruct his coaching staff to train their guys so that pitchers can be athletes and run the bases without breaking body parts. I mean, how many NL pitchers each year go on the DL with running-induced injuries?
  13. Yeah, what with his abilities to do so much with so little and all... Boy, you must really hate Yost to even consider jumping from Ned to the ineffectual, race-card playing success story that is Willie Randolph. I'm open to suggestions about who should replace Yost, assuming we don't make the postseason this year, but color me unimpressed with what Randolph can do with $130m worth of talent.
  14. How badly do you need the job? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  15. I already blamed Fielder. Mota did fall behind Loretta though and gave up a meatball. Would that be the same Loretta who would have been sitting in the dugout eating seeds if Prince had done his job? Just wondering...
  16. What part of "Mota induced the groundball and Prince screwed it up, with 2 out" makes it Mota's fault? Good grief!
  17. Some of the posts in Brewers losses make me quite sad, and a little worried for some of you guys' sanity. Seriously. Chill.
  18. Not that I condone it, but Crisp is a punk who should get used to getting knocked down by Rays relievers every time he comes up to bat if Tampa has a lead, from now on. If he takes his HBP like a man instead of the "little girl" he accused the Rays who hit him of being, the incident is over. And, yes, a game in June counts just like a game in September. It's still dumb baseball to deliberately disadvantage your team by getting suspended.
  19. Absolutely! Brewerfan.net - where the only pricks are knowledgable pricks! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  20. Nope and I wore my green 05 Buckethead free T-Shirt specially!
  21. I can't do it - just can't. With every fiber of my being I hope the Cubs lose. I even hope for both teams in a spring-training intra-squad game to lose! And, until we are mathematically eliminated from the division race with only the WC to play for, I don't see myself hoping they beat anyone. But, hey, that's how I roll!
  22. I just noticed that "Russell Branyan" is an anagram of "Ryan Braun Sells". And, no, I don't have too much time on my hands - I just choose to use it more pointlessly!
  23. I think the MLB and Players Union needs to acknowledge that Fantasy Baseball is at least partly responsible for the increasing interest in the game, and, more importantly, on the Cult of Personality that surrounds players these days. Sure, there have always been superstars, but IMO many many more guys get recognized (and paid well) than previously because of the Fantasy Industry keeping people updated on their progress.
