  1. Well 5-6 would be quite an improvement over our current road winning percentage. We miss Hudson in the ARI series, thats pretty nice
  2. I guess my point is that more often than not in order to get through a full inning most relief pitchers will probably have to face a lefty. If we have a RHP who I don't consider to be good enough to be a ROOGY and can't get lefties out at all; why is he even on the team. That being said I probably would have left Hawkins out there last night. For whatever reason Hawkins has had a much shorter leash with RR than Loe has.
  3. I don't know; if he can't use Loe in any high leverage situations and not at all against lefties; why is he even on the team? RR has made it pretty clear he doesn't like using his big guns more than an inning at a time and I guess I am not as opposed to that strategy as most are. Now would be the time to have Saito step up and claim the 7th inning all for himself. Also I am pretty confident that if he had a good lefty to use; he would have used him there. Its Melvin's job to find one
  4. I fail to see how walking Prince is a good thing for us when our 5 spot has a combined OPS under 600.
  5. Yeah there are some details missing on this. Do we still get the $3.5 Million from the Mets even though there is no longer a buyout. If we do; then there really is no financial downside to this deal. Do we agree to not offer arbitration? Part of the appeal of K-rod was getting the picks so I will be dissappointed if it comes out that we won't be getting those
  6. I guess it amounts to how much additional compensation. Definitely nice not having to worry about this; also further proof that their is no way he would accept arbitration. Those two picks are in the bag.
  7. I think Mark A might have a little chat with RR if that option comes close to vesting. Mark A won't sit idly by while a manager costs him $14 Million for no good reason.
  8. 17.5 million on the books next year would be a disaster. The Brewers could add absolutely no pieces. There is a 0% chance that Krod gets anywhere near 20 finishes unless Axford gets hurt. I wouldn't be suprised if he gets 5-10 though
  9. If you include the $3.5 Million buyout in the budget for 2012; we are basically getting K-rod for free in 2011; that shouldn't impede us at all from adding some additional payroll. Also Roenicke is very familar with K-rod from Anahiem; I am sure he is estatic about the deal. Lets just hope he isn't too estatic and does the right thing by leaving him in the 8th inning spot. Axford in the 9th K-rod in the 8th Saito/Hawkins/Loe/Braddock - 6th/7th Estrada - Long man That is a pretty darn good bullpen if you ask me; is Saito returns to form that is as dominant 7th-9th innings that the Brewers have ever had.
  10. So let me gets things straight KRod makes $11.5 Million this year of which he is still owed probably around $5 to $5.5 Million $3.25 Million buyout for next year assuming we don't let him finish the required amount of games. $5 Million coming back our way. So all told the Brewers are only on the hook for maybe a maximum of $4 Million? If it is true that we aren't going to give up any legitimate prospects this seems like an awesome trade. It seems a little dumbfounding that the Mets would trade him to save $4 Million but I suppose their line of thinking was that they couldn't just yank him from the closers role so they were really saving themselves about $17 to $18 million. If the Brewers buyout the option could and would they even consider offering arby? I am guessing they would still offer; no way a Boras client takes a one year deal right?
  11. I haven't been a fan of Cirillo at all. Maybe he could grow into the role but he doesn't seem to be a natural. I also don't have nearly the problem with Rock than a lot of other people to do. I pay virtually no attention to announcers though; I tend to tune them out unless it is impossible to do so (Think Chris Berman, Darin Sutton). Rock certainly isn't any more of a homer than 90% of the other MLB color guys. It could be way worse; we could have Hawk Harrelson.
  12. Defintely tried to hard; had a huge uppercut
  13. 100% of the time? 51% of the time? If your answer is "this time", I don't think you are looking at the situation correctly.I am not sure what you are getting at here? My opinion was that the division winner will only need to win 88 games just because no one team is going to be dominant enough to put together a huge 2nd half to get to 90 wins
  14. Honestly I don't think Gamel is that important to the Brewers long term plans. They have a number of different viable options at 1st base in the next couple of years and their are a couple decent 1B prospects in the minors as well. If you can trade Gamel for a legitimate SS that you would have for at least 2 years you pull the trigger. I don't know who that SS would be; but I think an average to good defensive SS with .700-.750 OPS potential would be a fair return for someone like Gamel.
  15. Personally I think 88 wins will win the division. However; of the three teams that are within 1 game of 1st place; the Brewers have the best makeup to have a monster 2nd half. Even moreso if Doug can find a solution to the SS and 3B problems. They play STL and PIT a ton in the 2nd half; I really believe the Brewers are in the drivers seat.
  16. I did not realize that they gave Gamel the error. Obviously someone like Scott Rolen makes that play but Grienke still let all those guys on base
  17. Another ehhhhhh start Looks great for 4 innings and bad for two
  18. Prince does OK against righties, Gamel doesn't have enough MLB ab's to tell me if he can hit lefties or not, and Kotsay can't hit lefties or righties. The three lefties don't bother me. All things considered this is a pretty good lineup. If Braun were available you could plug him in at 3, Hart at 5, Gamel at 6, and remove Kotsay.
  19. IDK, in 2009 Hawkins was pretty darn good against lefties (Can't really county 2010 since he only had 18 appearances). 2008 was pretty bad against lefties, 2007 was pretty good. I don't think that Hawkins recent performance would indicate he is incapable of facing lefties. I wasn't that upset with Hawkins facing a couple lefties; probably only because I was happy it wasn't Loe.
  20. Hindsight is 20/20. Virtually no one would have preferred we kept Villanueva and our prospects rather than go after Grienke. Villanueva was always OK as a Brewer; but for a team that was meaning to go "All In" in 2011; I don't think he fit in the Brewers starting rotation plans. Of course he still could have fit Estrada's role. Just as Grienke has had an unusually poor start to 2011 Villanueva has had an unusually good start. Now maybe Villaneuva has just figured it out; but I still tend to believe that both Grienke and Villanueva should regress to their career norms before the season is done. Atleast I hope for my sanity that Grienke does.
  21. If Braun isn't going to play this upcoming series; just put him on the DL and bring up an OF that could actually contribute; rather than throwing Wilson, Kotsay, or Gomez out there
  22. Everyone would have been on RR's case big time if McGehee wouldn't have come through. It just goes to show that a manager can look brilliant if his players actually execute; but get crucified if they don't
  23. Why do people still want Counsell to play more? He has been AWFUL. It really doesn't bother me much that Yuni plays over Counsell. Isn't he 0 for 20 something right now? The problem is that we have absolutely no depth at SS so RR has no choice but to ply Yuni, Counsell, or Wilson who are all just terrible options
  24. Its not RR's fault that the entire pitching staff has decided to suck for the last 1-2 weeks. It seems that no matter who he puts out there that they find some way to screw it up. I thought that with the pitching staff we assembled that we would be immune to these poor streaks; obviously I was mistaken.
