  1. I just won at Solitaire in 86 seconds. That has to be some kind of record.
  2. If Yost & Svuem wouldn't have been so stupid and didn't play Jason 9 out of every 10 games I have to believe he would have performed better at the end of the season. His defense was very good the entire year though. Mike Rivera was hitting so well that it still boggles my mind why he wasn't played more. Kendall is probably at his best if he catches at most 120 games.
  3. This probably belongs in the politics forum but I think I can stay away from the politics part of it. The Wisconsin A.G. has said publicly that he believes the 1st offense should not be a crime (I might agree with this) but he also said that instead of mandatory jail time for 2nd offense he believes probation should also be an option. I think I am OK with not criminalizing 1st offense but I wouldn't mind increasing the fine on that as a further incentive to not do it again, but I think it is pretty ridiculous to reduce the penalty for 2nd offense. WI is already the most lenient state there is for drunk drivers and according to our "Police Chief" we are still to strict. I personally have never been affected by a drunk driver (no deaths in family or anything like that) and I want it to stay that way. If I am out driving past midnight I really do get scared when I see approaching cars and I tend to get as far right as possible and I always wait just a little bit longer at intersections. Maybe I am a little paranoid.
  4. We did not offer him arbitration so I believe that 20% rule does not apply. If Melvin were so inclined, he could sign Gagne to any contract he darn well pleased. This is kind of similar to Capuano, we declined arby to him because he would have gotten $2M+, instead we declined arby and signed him to a smaller contract
  5. How do you figure? They basically lost DeRosa, Pie, and Wood, and replaced them with Miles, Bradley and Gregg. I might even suggest they have gotten better (Harden is obviously an open question at this point.). Derosa >>>>>> MilesWood >>>>>>> Gregg (PLus this forces them to use Marmol as closer instead of when they really need him) Bradley >>>>> Pie (But with a huge injury risk) The Cubs are just not as good as last year plus their key offensive players are a year older, and one could reasonably expect Soto and Dempster to come back down to earth. ( I think Soto will be consistently good, not sure about Dempster though) The Cubs would be giving up a bunch of B prospects to get Peavy. If I am Towers I want actualy top prospects for a player of Peavy's talent not a huge quantity of mediocre talent.
  6. I still don't see how this trade increases the probablility of a Peavy trade. Olson was the missing piece in the Peavy trade, really? I mean who the heck are the Cubs going to trade to the Padres for Peavy at this point? Their depth at the MLB level is already incredibly thin and they have no prospects to speak of unless you count Vitters who is still pretty far away. They can't possibly trade Marshall or Smardjza (SP) now that they know that Harden has a shoulder issue. I guess I just don't see it happening.
  7. Personally I think if Harden is out any extended period of time the Cubs might be screwed. They have 0 good trading chips to pick up anyone of consequence and it is probably pretty likely that Dempster is not as good as he was last year and Zambrano has been trending downward the last 2 years. The fact that their core offense players are aging fast and several have durability issues could lead to a dissappointing season for the Cubs. That being said, as their roster is currently constructed, they still by far the best team in the division. A serious Harden injury and underperformance/injury to another SP and they could be in serious trouble
  8. I had also heard that the Dbacks had less than $8M to spend this year which would certainly take them out of the running for Sheets. What are the odds that Sheets signs with anyone prior to Pitchers/Catchers reporting in less than a month? Has there been any updates at all on his health? Could he showcase his arm for a team or is he still rehabbing and not throwing at all?
  9. mlbTR is blocked at my work. What is the reason for Dunn to the Crew no longer being an option? Is it strictly financial?
  10. Trevon was absolutely pathetic last night. Also Nankavil has no business getting any minutes right now, just freaking start Leuer. Their is no way a team should come from 14 behind to win at the Kohl Center and I would blame a lot of that on Hughes. He was taking crappy shots, he was turning the ball over, and he was playing some pretty cruddy defense, Westbrook lit him up in the 2nd half. A very disheartening loss.
  11. There's obviously nothing funny about this incident (I was just thinking how this story has set back even farther my timetable for ever flying again), but the thought of this being related to terrorism sounds a bit absurd.Well I don't know, what if the bird was an invasive species? I also think birds can be terrorists just ask Alfred Hitchcock.
  12. I just thought planes were designed to withstand even a flock of birds, otherwise it seems like this kind of thing would happen more often.
  13. http://news.yahoo.com/s/a...p_on_re_us/plane_in_river How exactly does a bird take out 2 engines? No reports of injuries as of yet which would a minor miracle. Probably took a talented pilot to crash the plane into the river rather than buildings
  14. I thought I would try to help out brewer nation and voted no on their poll. THe question was if you would like Powell to be the next Braves announcer. Perhaps my vote will show the Braves that Powell is the wrong man for the job http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. I am just afraid because it certianly seems like Prince is the kind of guy who can hold a grudge, if he loses his arby case he might punch out Melvin. Congrats to JB12 on hitting the Bush figure right on the head
  16. So we will be about $5M lower than where we started last year? If we are going for $80M, we are probably in Braden Looper territory as far as FA's go, if a trade happens obviously a higher priced pitcher could be obtained.
  17. I would also love that Miller but I guess I just don't think Bush has the talent to sustain a 3.2 ERA over the course of an entire year. But stranger things have happened, if Cliff Lee can win a Cy Young, Dave Bush can have a 3.2 ERA.
  18. Whats the point of a 2 hour delay? It is just as cold at 10 AM as it is at 8 AM. Does the 2 degree increase in temperature now make it safe for kids to wait for the bus?
  19. I have never seen the show, nor have I ever heard of this guy, but I thought I would mention that the guys facial expression reminds me of Ben Stiller in Zoolander.
  20. I thought I heard that the actual player doesn't have to attend the arby hearing as to avoid being ripped on by his employer. Prince seems like a guy who can hold a grudge so it would be an extremely smart move if he didn't have to be in the room at that arby hearing.

  25. It does seem a little crazy that the Braves offered 4/60 when the only other known offer was the Mets at 3/36. That is almost comparable to the premium the Yanks paid to Sabathia. In dollar terms it is quite a bit less, but in terms of percentage over the next highest offer it is pretty similar. I would think that if the Braves offered 3/42 or something like that they would have gotten Lowe to sign.
