  1. The Brewers have a couple guys in the lower minors that carried huge OBP's this year which is very nice to see Harrison was .402 in 2014 Coulter is at .407 in 2014 (.388 Lifetime) Denson is at .370 in 2014 (.376 lifetime) Taylor and Arcia both at least have respectable OBP's in Brevard County this year as well. Most of the Brewers top hitting prospects know how to take a walk which is very refreshing.
  2. With the lack of a truly outstanding offensive season in the NL Kershaw should probably be a shoo in at this point. Stanton is probably Kershaw's only competition.
  3. Diamond Stone does have UW in his Top 5 along with Duke, Maryland, Oklahoma State, and UConn. Maryland is kind of a head scratcher and Oklahoma St is only a decent program. It probably comes down to Duke, UW, and UConn. Wisconsin's odds probably are not very good but at least they have a shot.
  4. Little different circumstances this year though; Morneau has had a heck of a year and is under contract for more than a month. If it was like a Jungmann, Pena, or Bradley and Colorado said no then that's fine. Its not like I would have offered up our top guys anyways. It was worth a shot to Melvin and it is kind of surprising he went unclaimed all the way to the Brewers.
  5. Henry Ellenson has narrowed his choices to Marquette, Michigan State, and Kentucky. Please Henry go to Marquette; it would drive me nuts having to watch him play against UW in the B10 or with Calipari. It is looking like UW will be missing out on both Ellenson and Stone since it seems near impossible that Stone would go to UW. I am sure UW will be fine, they always are, but it kinda sucks when the best Wisconsin players always leave the state.
  6. It is probablya foregone conclusion that Theo is going to go really hard after a couple starters this offseason. If they could add Lester and maybe one more to Arrieta, Hendricks, and Wada that is pretty solid. There likely will be growing pains with so many young players so maybe they won't compete next year but they should be crazy entertaining. They haven't even added perhaps their best minor leaguer yet in Bryant.
  7. Seems like a good deal. From a 2014 talent perspective I think we improved plus we had a 2017 first rounder. It is lottery protected but I don't think the Clippers will be anywhere near the lottery for the foreseeable future anyways. Even it is a pick in the 20's it is better than paying Delfino for nothing and a C at the end of the bench.
  8. The greedy part of me wants Harrison, Gatewood, Medeiros, Williams, Lara, and Demuth all in Appleton next year. It will never happen but that would be probably the most loaded prospect team the Brewers have ever had. Add in Diaz and a couple other intriguing names currently in AZ and Helena and that team would be super exciting. I would be shocked if the Crew decided to have a lot of these guys skip Helena though. I hope Lara at least starts stateside.
  9. Amaro is probably still being stupid with his asking price. The way the trading deadline went he is probably asking for a couple top prospects for Papelbon yet. I would love to add him but I would never trade away anyone in our top 5-7 for a closer. Maybe you give him a Jorge Lopez or Taylor Jungmann but that is about it.
  10. Its not like we are paying him $25 Million a year during that extension; it tops out at $19 Million. That is probably an amount the Brewers could afford to be a complete sunk cost and still field a competitive team if it is assumed the payroll is around $100 to $120 Million when that $19 Million number hits. We aren't talking Albert Pujols, Joey Votto, or Miggy here.
  11. Well that was a dumpster fire of a bullpen performance. Yikes.
  12. Someone needs to jack one here. Can't let the rare Segura walk go to waste.
  13. Odds of Reynolds striking out here? Ridiculously high.
  14. That got out of hand pretty quickly. Duke can't even get lefties out anymore and Kintzler gives up a gopher ball.
  15. I would be willing to put $1 Million in monopoly money on the line in betting Braun ends up hitting at least .280, 20 Hr's, and 90 RBi's. While that is not a typical Braun MVP type year; he still earned his salary and is a really good player.
  16. That was a long 2nd inning there but he managed to get out of it.
  17. Agreed; at least you would hope that type of death is rather instantaneous with little pain. You could never pay me enough money to go be a journalist or have any type job in that part of the world.
  18. I can probably kiss any hope I had of getting cheap seats in September on Stub hub goodbye. Tickets are going to be very hard to come by in September especially that last home stand where the Crew will hopefully clinch the division Baseball is kind of funny; July was thought of as a soft schedule and the Brewers struggled for the better part of that whole month. Everyone was petrified of August because of the schedule and now they are playing fantastic. I guess it just goes to show that it really doesn't matter who you are playing as long as you are playing well. The Brewers can beat anyone if they play to their capabilities. Of course the same can be said for Washington, St Louis, and the Dodgers too so it will come down to who is playing well in October.
  19. Would it be too much to ask that Cueto beats the Cards tonight? I am not sure how this is going to go against Dickey tonight. I am thinking either there will be no in between; we either stink like holy hell trying to hit that knuckleball or we beat the tar out of him. I always love afternoon baseball; it makes the work day go by so much faster
  20. The only way I seem him pitching is in the last 2 or 3 days of the year and RR wants to lineup his rotation for the playoffs. That might require shuffling some starts around and finding a fill in for a game or two. Probably pretty unlikely he even gets the call up though.
  21. At this point I think you need to give Rogers the chance to win either the 3B or 1B job next year with hopefully Aram taking the other position. He is old for a prospect now but if he can hit he should find a place on the team. He looks very much like a Khris Davis; he is a little bit old for a prospect, has some defensive questions marks, and has hit at every level. He is the closest thing we have to a corner infield prospect capable of playing in MLB right now. An to add to my above comment you really have to like the amount of starting pitching depth the Crew is accumulating in the minors. No top prospects or anything but at least a couple of Jungmann, Bradley, Lopez, Cravy, Wagner, T Williams, D Williams, and Medeiros are likely to turn out to be competent to above average starters and at least half of those names will be ready in 2015 or 2016.
  22. Gatewood had a really nice day. Tyler Wagner is really suprising me as well. Perhaps we can get a long term starter from either Wagner or Cravy starting in 2016?
  23. It has been great that we have been able to beat so many good pitchers in the last 3 or 4 weeks; but I would rather our luck even out a bit and get to face some junk too. The Brewers are not going to be the flashy team in the playoff hunt this year; they just do everything pretty darn well. If Braun can get a little healthier and put up an MVP like couple of months like I think he can; the Crew could be the team to beat in the NL.
  24. Pirates and Reds are fading fast. Even if the Cards get hot and overtake us for 1st we still would hold a really good shot at a wild card. Right now it is the Cards, Pirates, Braves, and Giants fighting for those 2 spots and 3 of those 4 teams have really struggled lately. I am still feeling really good about the division though. Basically the entire month of September is against division foes so as long as the Brewers can make it through the rest of August still in 1st they will control their own destiny. Cards will be getting Molina back and maybe Wacha; Pirates will be getting Cutch and Cole back so all three teams will probably be competing at or near full strength come September. Molina and Wacha are probably farther out than Pirates guys though.
  25. It wouldn't be in DM's MO to trade Lohse this offseason though. MAYBE if Fiers remains lights out he thinks about it; but even then he would only trade him for an MLB piece in return (Perhaps such as a 1st basemen). Melvin has never been the type to try to guess on "selling high"; he really sticks with guys. I wouldn't be opposed to trading Lohse but with as good as he has been I wouldn't wait to trade him just to trade him; I would want something worthwhile in return. Lohse's salary is not an issue for the Brewers even if he turns out to be terrible in 2015. I am not considered about Lohse's performance post all star break; if a 4.41 ERA is bad Lohse I will take that any day. This is probably just a blip.
