  1. I would rather do the Comp Pick + Haniger and Roache than trade Taylor.
  2. Holy Christ I had no idea that someone was actually keeping stats on something like that; or how you could even do it. That being said it wouldn't surprise me if most MLB players had similar splits with the highest performance against finesse pitchers. Maybe not as drastic as Howards though. In regards to the question I really don't think it would be worth it to bring in Howard. He would perhaps be only a marginal upgrade over what we have now and even if Philly eats a ton of salary I just don't see the upside. He is clearly on the down swing of his career.
  3. Unless Ramirez gets hurt yet this year I give the Brewers a 90% chance of picking up that option. If Ramirez does want to play multiple more years I give him a 50% chance or less of picking up his option. Even if he doesn't pick up the option I think it is very likely the Brewers work out a 2 year deal with him; maybe 2/25 or so. It seems like he really likes it here and the Brewers will probably have a need for a 3rd basemen in 2015 as well.
  4. Jason Rogers has been pretty solid at AAA but I am not even going to pretend to think he can put up numbers anywhere near Ramirez.
  5. It boggles my mind that STL is one of the 10 smallest markets in baseball though. That doesn't seem possible. They certainly aren't in the 10 lowest revenue. They have to literally be the 10th smallest market and are just barely sneaking in the lottery. Hopefully the Brewers will have two picks less than 6 spots from each other next year.
  6. That looks about right. I am not so sure Wolters makes the team anymore with Knight, Marshall, and Bayliss on board. I am guessing he is gone unless Mayo or Delfino are gone. Even if is one the team he and Inglis would be the end of the bench. My vote for a starting lineup would be Marshall, Knight, Giannis, Parker, and Sanders. Henson, Middleton, Bayliss, Zaza, and Ersan are the main contributors off the bench. Delfino is the wildcard; if he comes back healthy he is a shooter that the team really needs so he would surely fit in the rotation.
  7. Oh my god the horror. Is he going to dissect Chris Davis from the Orioles this year as well. The guy has had well chronicled issues with his thumb and oblique this year; if Olney what have done any due diligence before this piece he might have come up with a reason for his lower power this year other than what he is obviously implying. And count me in with everyone in saying that if this what a bad year for Ryan Braun is then I will take that 100 times out of 100. Home runs seem way down across the board this year but its no surprise that Olney is singling out Braun. He is acting like going opposite field is a bad thing.
  8. Pretty solid move if you ask me. Henderson probably needs another week or two in rehab anyways; worry about that 40 man spot when the time comes. Right now the team can't rely on Wooten in high leverage situations. Hopefully Jeffress can come in and contribute.
  9. They will still be lucky to win 35 games but I agree that the lineup is much more exciting; especially if they give Giannis some more freedom. If Sanders can return to his 2012-2013 form the team could be really fun. I wouldn't mind if they gave Marshall the PG spot; he is better suited for the PG spot than Knight is. If you could play Knight, Marshall, Giannis, Parker, and Sanders/Henson together that could be pretty fun in time.
  10. It sucks to think that a persons or persons with most likely shot down a plane with 200+ people for no apparent reason today in Ukraine. Sometimes humanity just makes me sick. Someone thought shooting down a plane with hundreds of completely innocent people was a rational thing to do.
  11. The score was closer, but there wasn't much to enjoy in the Helena game, either. Nothing personal to the guys, but the Helena roster is pretty uninspiring, and we shouldn't ever be saying that about the Rookie Advanced level, where normally we can still dream on numerous guys. Its not all bad, Williams and Diaz are worth watching and Demuth was pretty solid earlier in the year but I get your point. It would help if Neuhas could do anything; major disappointment this year. Pitching prospects outside of Williams are really non-existent. I see that Denson has played in a couple games down in Maryvale coming back from injury; perhaps they should bump him back up to Helena. That would make box scores more interesting at least
  12. Bayless seems like a decent pickup for the Bucks (Not Skip).
  13. Never say never but the likelihood of trading a contributor and getting a return back that improves the big league club this year probably isn't very likely. The chance to make the playoffs simply isn't going to be around every year for the Crew; you need to give it your best shot whenever that chance is realistic. All the teams in the Central have their flaws; the Brewers have as good a shot as anyone.
  14. It has been all quiet on the FA front; at this point the picking are pretty slim for anything other than depth. I doubt they think Wolters is a long term answer at PG behind Knight. Apparently the Bucks are trying to trade Ersan but have found no takers. Hammond probably needs to include someone halfway decent like Middleton if he wants to get rid of that contract. Summer League means next to nothing but Giannis' play has been encouraging. It will be entirely different when Parker & Giannis are playing against a full team of NBA caliber players though. Parker probably won't have to press so much but you still really want an aggressive Giannis.
  15. If Favre would have wanted to come back after his 2 years in MN that might be a comparable situation. It would never have happened but if Rodgers would have been on IR and the Pack needed a QB that would have made for interesting conversation.
  16. Bledsoe isn't going anywhere though; the Suns are going to match. Vasquez would be fine I guess; just don't do a crazy contract. It is kind of cool a couple of ex Badgers in Brust and Taylor are on the Summer League team. Neither probably has a chance of making the team but it should be a cool experience for them and they get to showcase for Euro teams
  17. I think it mght be questionable to say that the Cubs have that much more money than the Crew. From what I can tell Ricketts really saddled the team with a ton of debt when he bought them. I don't think the Cubs will be spending $150 Million anytime soon. I think KC is a fair comparison. For all the hype many of those prospects got; it has mostly been disappointment. Yes the Cubs are better suited to fill in the gaps with high dollar signings but there prospects could flame out just like KC's have. That being said I think that offense in Chicago in 2015 or 2016 is going to be really solid; with so many young guys cracking at once their might be some growing pains though. Plus they obviously will need to get some pitching from somewhere and that won't come cheap.
  18. I would give it another couple weeks; Medeiros hasn't even pitched yet. I know I shouldn't rank on small sample size but neither Lara or Medeiros have even suited it up yet. Maybe just wait until the end of July.
  19. We are getting closer and closer to having Arcia the SS of the future rather than Segura. Arcia could be ready perhaps late next year so Segura better figure it out pretty quick or he might not be the guy starting in 2016. He might be regretting turning down a long term contract right about now. I really hope he turns it around; we don't need him to be all star Segura but we also don't want him to be a younger version of Jeff Bianchi either.
  20. Personally I think they need to bring up Jeffress yesterday; demote either Kintzler or Wooten. Maybe Jeffress flames out again but he has got better stuff then both of those guys. Kintzler is really struggling right now.
  21. Perhaps they will just bring Sessions back. He is fine as a backup and spot starter I still think Drw got screwed over but I am starting to get over that aspect; plus it sounds like the owners recognize they can't do hires/fires in the NBA like they did in the business world. What is still bothering me is Kidd's merits as a coach and his run ins with the law and his assistants. I am sure he will end up being fine; but there is part of me expecting this to be a trainwreck. Kidd on a small market team not expected to win; that just doesn't strike me as a good fit for Kidd.
  22. Henry Ellenson's big brother just transferred to Marquette from Minnesota. That would seem to significantly increase Marquette's chances of landing the much more talented Henry for their 2015 class. I am a UW fan first but I will never complain if Marquette manages to keep the WI talent in state. Diamond Stone looks more and more like he is going to one of the blue bloods for a one and done season. I don't think this helps Marquette much this year and Wally Ellenson isn't much a player but I can certainly see why Wojo brought him in. He was going to do anything he could to help his chances at Henry.
  23. He always seems to do this. He always does just enough to stay in the rotation by throwing a good start or two out there. Then he will have 2 or 3 terrible starts but RR and DM will be hesitant to demote him and they will keep giving him chances. Meanwhile Nelson and his sub 2.00 ERA with a ton of strike outs and minimal HR's is rotting away in AAA.
  24. Who really could the Bucks really expect to get though? We will just end up with another Drew Gooden or OJ Mayo signing by offering more money to medicore FA's so they basically have no choice but to come here. I don't know who is available at PG or SG but I am expecting nothing more than a 2nd or 3rd tier depth guy. If anything Hammond will swing a trade to get rid of Sanders; that is probably pretty likely actually.
