  1. They will probably issue warnings before the 1st pitch tonight. RR has never been known to retaliate. Of course I wouldn't put it past Gibson to retaliate against himself. That was a very satisfying win.
  2. I cant believe Gibson pulled that crap in a tight game and a guy hitting 340 on deck. The dbacks franchise is a complete joke. I am glad they really went all in with grit this year; enjoy last place morons.
  3. All these draft rumors are driving me nuts. It is now reported that the odds on favorite for #1 is Embiid and that Philly desperately wants Wiggins. The Bucks reportedly prefer Parker to Wiggins anyways. So by current thinking it would go Embiid, Parker, and then Wiggins. I somehow doubt it ends up going that way; who knows. I am not going to be surprised if both Hammond and Drew are around; nor would I be surprised if they are fired. Either way Hammond is making the pick next week. He is dealing from a position that he is not used to (top of the 1st round) so I am not sure what to expect. I really want him to get Philly to cave and offer 3 and 10 for the 2nd pick but I really doubt that happens. Give them one of our seconds and a player if they want. Take whoever is left at 3 and then pick up Gary Harris at #10. That is my ideal scenario
  4. The only "I know where I was moment" was 9/11. I was only 10 win OJ happened so I wouldn't have realized what was happening or why it was a big deal.
  5. We must have gotten that storm that went through Madison at about 1-2 in FDL. I couldn't fall asleep after all the cracks of thunder. It might as well been noon with the amount of lightening. Pretty crazy. No damage or anything like that around here though; just a whole lot of rain. The amount of rain yesterday and forecasted through the end of the week is going to cause flooding problems. Probably not 2008 bad but there should be some. Farmers hopefully got all their stuff in the ground because they won't get out in the field for a long time after this week. They will probably lose a lot of crop regardless with fields going underwater for extended periods of time.
  6. Neuhaus not exactly off to a roaring start in the first game of the year. Looking forward to Williams tonight; it would be great if we can get his high upside potential to match with what we just drafted. Lots of high upside guys; albeit all in the low minors.
  7. 8:40 which means the game probably won't end until midnight Milwaukee time. If they get behind early I am just going to bed
  8. Well you didn't jinx him. Another fantastic outing. 7 innings, 5 hits, 6 k's, 0 walks, 9-3 GO:FO ratio. Awesome
  9. I think it is more "been there done that" going on. 2011 was the first time in ages that anyone thought the Brewers were special. Now that the fans experienced that; competing now isn't as exciting
  10. I agree; no doubt about it. There would still be lots of good players available at #8; not really a true PG anywhere though unless Exum were to somehow fall. Randle, Stauskus, Harris, Dougy McBuckets, and Gordon would probably be the guys in that range. McLemore, Giannis, Henson, Wiggins, Middleton and whoever they would get at #8 would be a really young and exciting core. Plus you have Wolters and Ersan as well off of the bench. Who plays PG would certainly be an issue. Wolters might have to start by default.
  11. And also consider his first start. He obviously was battling his control and nerves (Adversity) but still managed to throw a good game. Yes I know very small sample size alert but if the reason we are holding him back is we want him to fail and recover somewhere other than MLB that seems kind of pointless. No matter when he is in MLB he is going to go through a rough patch. Estrada; the guy everyone wants him to replace, is going through a pretty bad one right now. Its not like we are calling him up to be our #1 starter and start the first game of the playoffs here. Plus his raw stuff is better than Estrada's pretty obviously.
  12. Yeah I would rather draft Wiggins at #2 than Parker at #3 and Young. If the Bucks trade out of the #2 spot they absolutely have to pick up one or more additional lottery picks in 2014 and 2015. Don't try the pick for players unless it is a no brainer and Young is certainly not a no brainer. Philly may say that now but if Embiid goes #1 and they know the Bucks are taking Wiggins at #3 they might get desperate. I would take Parker and Harris (#10) over just Wiggins at #2.
  13. Well I have to like that initial assessment by BA. I will have to keep an eye on those bullpen arms; those guys could move really quickly and help sooner rather than later. BA even gives me the impression that the next tier of guys we drafted after the Top 3 area also pretty darn solid. I am hoping Demuth can offer us some hope at 3rd and for a senior sign in the 3rd round Sneed at least has some potential the way it sounds. I admittedly stopped paying attention after the first 3 picks because I didn't we could afford much more talent after those 3
  14. I would be surprised if RR pulls him from the rotation right now; but if this trend continues for another 2 starts or so I think it will be impossible to keep Nelson in AAA or Fiers in the bullpen. He always has given up a ton of HR's but this year has been ridiculous which is made even worse by the walks.
  15. And Monte Harrison for that matter as well although I don't know if he would be considered more of a corner OF or CF. Either way in 2017 he would have about 2.5 years of pro ball under his belt; you never know. I hope Taylor would be ready even before 2017. AA/AAA in 2015 and if he has a solid 1st half I am hoping he is in play for a September call up in 2015 and perhaps an opening day roster spot in 2016.
  16. I would still sure has hell take Samardjzia if the price is right though. There are like 10 aces in the entire league. I don't like labeling guys like that; he would be a welcome addition in my book and I would rather have him around than keeping Gallardo or Lohse beyond their current contracts. Of course you would have to sign him long term to accomplish that. Doing a deal with the Cubs probably isn't likely but I would rather give up what it take to get him then completely sell out for Price or what everyone calls an "Ace"
  17. It seems like the Rockies have really fallen off a cliff and now Cuddyer is hurt. Tulo, Blackmon, and Morneau have all fallen off substantially since their hot starts. They are 1-9 in their last 10. I guess that crazy good start offensively was really too good to be true and the pitching has not been able to pick up the slack
  18. So has Medeiros actually signed yet? I see that he is bolded as signed in the other thread but from what I can tell it hasn't been formally announced yet including the $ right?
  19. You'll never convince me that Marcum wasn't a huge reason we were so good in 2011. Yes he struggled in the playoffs but he was great for a huge part of that regular season. Maybe we make the playoffs without him; maybe without him we don't get Grienke and ended up going nowhere. I certainly lead towards the notion that getting Marcum set the table for Grienke and that coupled with his performance in the regular season led to one of the most successful seasons in Brewers history. I would do that trade all over again
  20. Knowing what we know now I don't know why Callis would completely leave Coulter out of that question? Maybe just an oversight on his part. I think you can comfortably put all 3 in our Top 10 but I just can't see putting them ahead of guys like Coulter and Taylor before ever playing an inning Gatewood turning into Juan Gonzalez would certainly be awesome
  21. Rays are definitely going to be in sell mode so someone will probably be getting Price. I really want to keep Nelson at all costs so there probably isn't a good enough package out there. Even if you included say Thornburg, Taylor, Roache, and Haniger that wouldn't probably be close to enough. I don't think the Brewers will be in the market for the top tier players but I think they have the ability to pick up a player or two on that 2nd tier; who that is I wouldn't have the faintest idea. Feldman or Jeff S (It is just easier) might be possibilities from the Cubs perhaps; maybe James Shields from the Royals. Those guys could be had for a lot less than Price.
  22. Frankly I don't care who Nelson slots in for eventually, just find a way to get him pitching. For Christ sake the guy has an ERA of 1.51, more than 1 K per inning, a 3.62 K/BB ratio, and .879 WHIP. Just find a way, the kid can pitch and help the Brewers now. He is already 25; just get him up already.
  23. I am having a hard time feeling bad about losing a young player who has not cracked OPS+ of 100 in 2012, 2013, or 2014. He hasn't gotten his OPS over 730 in the last 3 years including this year. He has been entirely mediocre. Yes he is still only 24 years old and has plenty of time to develop yet but I still feel good about where Marcum got us in 2011.
  24. Oh I definitely agree. If you can get Parker at #3 and pick up Pick #10 it is a no brainer. I don't like Wiggins that much more than Parker to turn that down. Take Gary Harris at #10; they desperately need some shooters.
  25. Thornburg officially to the DL with Fiers coming up. Might as well give Fiers a shot at the bullpen since he isn't next in line for the rotation
