  1. Love these guys signed so early; get them to Maryvale and start playing to see what you have. Both Maryvale and Helena should be fun to follow
  2. Dustin Demuth a 3B out of Indiana is the next pick. Seems like a pretty solid pick who should be pretty cheap as a senior
  3. So could we have taken Touki, Holmes, or Newcomb instead of Medeiros and still afforded Gatewood and Harrison? I am guessing not. That might be the only way the 1st day could have gone better
  4. Would Gatewood have the highest power grade in the system? Or would Roache or perhaps Denson?
  5. Well then back the Brinks truck up
  6. AZ with Williams, Neuhaus, Medeiros, Gatewood, and Harrison would be crazy exciting. Maybe Lara as well? No clue where he would slot in if signed
  7. Tonight just got a whole lot better if this is a glimpse of Arcia's potential. He seems to be putting things together and is still extremely young......
  8. Can a kid like Harrison really turn down $2 Million to go to the crap hole that is Nebraska? Take the money now kid.
  9. Well the Arizona League Brewers might have just become must watches on the link report. Adding Gilbert would be incredible. THey certainly don't need all 4 to pan out; just shoot for .500
  10. Late to the part here; was initially disappointed in the 1st round pick but if that gave them the extra money to think they could sign both Gatewood and Harrison then that was pure genius thinking. Hopefully they can get all of these guys signed. Seems like a big time high upside draft; hopefully 2 of the 3 pan out
  11. A round of imaginary beers to the group that the pick is not someone extensively discussed in this thread. It will probably be a surprise (Hopefully a good one like someone unexpectedly falls). No real reason for me to think this; it just seems no one ever has any idea what the Brewers are thinking come draft day.
  12. With Coulter's supposedly fantastic arm and good athletic ability; just move him to RF already. His athletic skill set could probably play at multiple positions. Let him work on it for a couple years in MILB while his bat continues to improve. I don't want them to string Coulter along as a C and then all of a sudden 2 years from now decide that he needs to move.
  13. At this point I still really want Schwarber; he seems to be a difference making bat that we desperately need. Coulter, Schwarber, and Taylor could be a really fund group to come together in MLB; and that isn't including guys like Haniger, Neuhaus, Reed and Denson among others who could have pretty good MLB careers. Coulter, Schwarber, and Taylor probably still wouldn't touch the Prince, Braun, and Weeks trifecta but it would be fun to follow nevertheless. I am certainly not going to be disappointed if we get a different high upside guy at 12 though. Other guys no about the prospects better than me so if Brewerfan likes it then I will probably like it
  14. Well they don't need to trade for anyone; Nelson is one call away and is good enough to help the Brewers contend this year
  15. Heyman tweeted that Schwarber could go as high as 4 to the Cubs; hence my thought that he could easily be gone before 12. I would really be fine with Hoffman, Holmes, Schwarber, or Toussaint and I am sure I could feel OK if it is someone else that is generally regarded highly. I just don't want them to reach for monetary purposes in the hopes of going above slot later on. BPA available please.
  16. It sounds like Schwarber is moving up and will probably be gone before #12 comes. If that is the case I absolutely want them to go the pitching route. I don't know if there is bat I would rather have than the 3-4 good arms that should be there at 12. I am read a lot of reviews raving about the great stuff of Toussaint so he is by man crush for now. Of course we will draft him and he will end up like Hellweg; great stuff but can't control it at all.
  17. 2009 seems like the only really poor draft. 2010, 2011, and 2012 are actually looking fairly good at this point outside of the obvious issue with Covey in 2010. That 2009 draft is looking monumentally horrible though. So many high picks and they all suck.
  18. Based on everything I have seen and read if it is a hitter I want Schwarber and if it is a pitcher I want Holmes, Toussaint, or Hoffman. Hoffman would be very interesting; although part of me doesn't want to wait until next July or August before he ever makes a pitch for the organization. I just don't know if I like Pentecost or not. I know you don't pick based on need but catcher might be one of the lowest needs in all of the organization between Lucroy, Coulter, and Zarraga. I am probably forgetting another C too. If all of those players are available I would probably lean towards Toussaint with Holmes a close 2nd. Hopefully that is a nice bat available yet in the 40s
  19. Arcia is viewed as more of a long term SS than 2B right? Perhaps he is the guy that could move Segura over to 2nd in a couple years. From everything I know if Arcia is at least competent with the bat he will make the big leagues because his glove is so good. It looks like he has at least some ability. It is crazy that he is so young; if he continues to progress he could be in the big leagues when he is 21. Bradley start in AA is disappointing but if he really was that sick he probably lost some weight and needs some additional time to recover. I know Roache also got sick for a while there but man has he been a disappointment. Get it together young man.
  20. Perhaps we could expand it to 30 after the June draft and after the short season has started. It was pretty hard leaving a couple guys off and if we add some nice talent later this week I could pretty easily put a top 30 together. I already think Cravy and Lopez might be a little to low on the list already; Roache is probably too high
  21. Lucroy getting the day off for what seems like the first time in eternity. Man with a healthy Aram starting tomorrow that lineup looks awfully nice. If only our 1B platoon could get there averages above .220 and OBP's above 300 we would practically be unstoppable
  22. The longer Nelson keeps hammering on the door at AAA the more I am convinced that Estrada will get traded in July. It would be weird to see a contending team trade away a solid starter but if you can replace him with Nelson while also hopefully filling a hole somewhere else you have to do it. Estrada by himself probably won't net an impact player but he could be part of a solid package. Whoever would trade for Estrada this year might be a contending team as well so that would open the door to a lot more teams than a typically deadline deal between contending and selling teams. You never know; Melvin is known for pulling off big trades so I wouldn't put it past him at all.
  23. There seems to be a lot of disagreement in the prospects that are ranked in the 10-20 range. Someone is probably going to be upset with whoever ends up being picked. I don't follow this close enough but if most people are projecting the kid the Brewers take in the top 15 then it is probably a good pick and a player who has the ability to be a really good player. I just can't get upset if one scout or another thinks a kid is projectable or if they have too low a ceiling. Who the hell really knows? Mark Appel has been atrocious for the Astros and he was almost universally loved by everyone. Of course he can turn it around yet but the point being is that the MLB draft is an extremely inexact science.
  24. Fiers doesn't have the same opt out as Mills but he is also a guy other teams could have considerable interest in. Melvin COULD choose to trade both Mills and Fiers since Nelson is Starter #6 and you also have Jungmann at AAA who could step in as well. Thornburg could also help out as well. I wouldn't expect to get a ton for Mills; really anything would be great since he was a scrap heap pick up. Maybe you could get a guy rated in the 15-20 range on a respective team. I think you could probably get more for Fiers than you could for Mills but I don't think we could get an upper tier prospect in either case. Maybe a low level kid that has some upside. Maybe we could get an MLB reliever if we took on some salary.
