  1. Rainey is actually my 3rd TB RB. I drafted Martin in the 1st round (IR), picked up Mike James when Martin got hurt (IR 1 week later) and now picked up Rainey. Sooner or later a TB RB is actually going to help me.
  2. I actually watched quite a bit of the game. Giannis played a lot but it was pretty clear that he wasn't a big part of the offense. I don't think they ever really ran a play for him and more often than not he was just standing in the corner. Maybe that was by design, maybe not; but if he is going to play get him involved a bit. He has shown some offensive ability but needs some work; let him have the ball in his hands. Henson and Giannis are two really strong building blocks. Add in Sanders and that should be a pretty solid 3-4-5. They very clearly need to get better at the guard position. They really need that sharp shooter SG and a PG who can actually pass. Knight is probably is better suited as a SG so I wouldn't be opposed to moving him there if they can find a legitimate PG. Maybe Wolters and Knight should be on the floor at the same time?
  3. It might be different in there own backyward; I guess you never know. Although it probably isn't like to happen in Waukesha or Ozaukee Counties. I am thinking Racine or Kenosha would be more likely
  4. I don't think UW or MU have a chance at keeping Stone in state; probably a better shot with Ellenson. Diamond Stone just seems ticketed for one of the blue blood programs and will probably hope to go to the NBA after a year or two in college. I think his offensive game especially needs a lot of refinement before he is ready for the NBA; but that hasn't stopped people from going before. You know he would get drafted extremely high on raw projectability alone.
  5. I have been in a standard scoring league and a TD only league for 5+ years now. I have a chance to win the standard scoring league for the 3rd time in 5 years and I have never even sniffed the playoffs in the TD only league. TD only leagues are absolutely maddening.
  6. What would the Cardinals even want? Their young pitching is already better than ours; they have no use for our best trading asset. Maybe you start talking about guys like Roache, Coulter, Taylor, and Haniger but I wouldn't be all that interested in trading Roache or Taylor.
  7. I would agree that it is either Cutler or Rivers for you with a lean towards Cutler. I am also in my championship and have to decide between Pierre Thomas and Bobby Rainey. I think I have to go with Rainey because NO vs Car is a terrible match up for Thomas; plus he splits time with two other guys. Tampa Bay is terrible but they are playing in a dome in STL.
  8. I don't think anyone would have too big of an objection of this project is all or mostly all privately financed. But I really just cannot envision this getting any sort of significant public financing. Could this be an Atlanta situation where a suburb ponies up and they actually move out of downtown? Maybe that is a more realistic scenario. Hell move them to Kenosha next to the new casino and make a new mega economic hub.
  9. I would probably be sad that they left but I don't think I would be devasted or anytihng. I haven't been to a game in many years and only casually watch on TV. But it is a WI team that I could get excited about if they ever got good and if there is a new shiny arena built I would at least think about going to games again. But before any of that they need to solve the product on the court. I just don't see any new arena being built until there is some tangible improvement on the court. If they still suck I don't think "Build it and they will come" is going to apply. It will be MIL's version of the Marlins.
  10. If he doesn't bring anyone ine it would probably end up being an open competition in Spring Training between Morris, Francisco, Halton, and Rogers. Let the man with the best 50 AB's in meaningless spring training games against random AA and AAA pitchers win.
  11. Polar Express is our new family favorite. Christmas Vacation is my personal favorite. Its a Wonderful Life and a Christmas Story are the old standby's you watch every year just because you are supposed to.
  12. Dunn's 3 year splits are skewed a bit by a historically awful 2011 season though. I would guess the splits would favor Dunn by a decent margin just going off of 2012 and 2013. Dunn had an OPS+ of 114 and 103 in 2012 and 2013. Rickie was 93 and 80. If Dunn could OPS somewhere in 750-800 and we pay him around the $11-12 Million we are obligated to pay Rickie; I would say we came out ahead.
  13. Would Dunn be a competent first baseman? I would love Dunn for his walks and and LH Power (He would probably break the HR distance record at MP if he gets to play 81 games there a year) but man o man his strikeouts will drive me crazy and he is slow as all hell. He walks a ton and hits HR's but to be really valuable he needs that average to be around .240; not the sub .220 in the last 3 years. I would take a flier on him but in a Weeks/Dunn swap we better come out ahead on the salaries. He makes $4 Million more than Weeks in 2014; we better not pay a whole lot more for Dunn than what we are obligated to pay for Weeks.
  14. We also traded a somewhat seasoned Axford for what hopefully is a competent bullpen arm in Blazak. Melvin certainly isn't afraid to trade a closer if he thinks he is getting a good deal. But if we trade Henderson this year there really is no experience behind him. I would assume Kintzler would be the de facto closer and I wouldn't be all that excited about that. Nor would I want to overpay someone to come in and close. I am OK keeping Henderson; he is cheap and effective. Closers are always over rated at the trading deadline so Henderson may be a nice trading piece to have if the Brewers are struggling come July.
  15. And Anderson may be big but he probably has no business being on a Big 10 team. If he was actually good Bo would be playing him. I don't know how well Kaminsky and Hayes will hold up in Big 10 play; but at least there aren't a ton of teams with dominant big men. There are some good big men like Payne, McGary, and Vonleh but no one is THAT good. I think the Big Ten is pretty guard heavy this year. I see 5 team battling for the top: Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa, and Ohio State. Wisconsin and OSU have looked the best thus far but OSU also hasn't really played anyone. Iowa is going to suprise some people. Michigan has underacheived but still have enough talent to compete. Michigan State is really banged up. It is probably a given that the eventual winner will have atleast 3 losses. Wisconsin catches a huge break this year; they only play MSU and OSU at home.
  16. How about we do something crazy and try to get a MILB 1st basemen that is as close to ready as possible and just go with Halton/Francisco while we wait? What about trying to get Choi from the Mariners (AAA last year), Muncy from A's (AA), or Medica from Padres (AA)? All of them probably have more upside than any 1st basemen we currently have. I don't know what kind of return would be needed for any of them but it might be worth exploring if we can fix 1st base for hopefully many years. Obviously this would make Morris and Rogers very expendable for a different trade. Not likely to happen but worth thinking about at least. I would love Medica but he would be the most expensive of the 3 and I don't know what the Padres would want. Bird from the Yanks also looks pretty nice but is a farther ways out having only been at High A last year. Bird had 100+ walks last year along with 20 homers. Strikes out a ton too.
  17. Well he surely will be keeping majority ownership so I doubt much if anything changes. Perhaps he will bring in some deep pockets to help with a new building. Does Kohl have any kids? He has got to have a succession plan in case he croaks. Sounds like the Greek might crack the starting lineup now. That wil be nice to see; he and Henson have been the only reasons worth watching. Middleton has been a pleasant suprise as well but he really should just be a role player on a good team. The Bucks are so bad he is forced into a pretty prominent role.
  18. And Aram and Weeks only have one year deals left; they probably aren't stopping DM from doing any long term deals that he actually wants to du. Loney simply isn't very good.
  19. At this point of known 1st baseman available it is really Ike Davis or what we already have. Probably not a perfect situation to be in. Come on Doug pull something out of your hat and suprise us all.
  20. I think he was referring to Jason Rogers the 1B not Mark Rogers.
  21. Gomez is coming off of a very good year and is signed to a team friendly contract for multiple years. The only way a player like that gets traded period is if the team is expected to be absolutely awful. With the 2nd wildcard and the Brewers having a lot of other talent including Braun, Segura, Ramirez, Lucroy, etc this team is capable of making the playoffs even though it may seem unlikely at this point. Melvin or any other GM would be dumb to sacrifice even the possibility for a playoff birth in exchange for prospects that may help two years from now. Its not like we are the Astros here. There is a possiblity of the playoffs especially with the expanded wild card. And once you get in you just never know. Middling team like the Brewers are far less likely to sell off valuable pieces due to that fact.
  22. Um Ok? It is still completely arbitary to look only at his AAA stats in 2013 while completely ignoring his better stats at MLB during the same year with roughly the same amount of plate appearances. The MLB numbers did actually happen. Maldanado also got an extended period of playing time in 2012 and was strictly a bench player in 2013. That might explain the big drop off more than his actualy level of talent. Perhaps he just can't be successful getting 5-10 AB's a week
  23. Why do you completely disregard Gennet's 125 OPS+ in 200+ PA's in Milwaukee? He is not going to duplicate the 125 again in all likelihood but he showed he had the capability to be a decent 2nd basemen. That is like looking at Thornburg's horrific 2013 AAA numbers and expecting him to be terrible despite his very strong MLB campaign. It is basically the same situation. It seems to be a very pessimistic view. I don't expect Gennett to be an all star or anything like that; but I don't think it is unreasonable to expect him to be better than Weeks even though he doesn't quite have the power.
  24. Could we somehow mix Weeks into the deal? If all we get back is Davis; getting rid of at least part of Weeks salary might be worth it. Even if we do get Davis I would make it an open competition in Spring Training. I wouldn't just hand the job to him.
  25. Hart may get another $5 Million out of this deal over what the Brewers offered but this can't possibly help him next offseason when he is trying to get a longer term contract. His power numbers will almost certainly be lower than if he stayed in MIL. Plus even with Cano in SEA; the Brewers offense still stands to be better which will give him more RBI chances (Not that I care about RBI's but I am sure GM's do)
