  1. The way Axford has pitched since the first 2 weeks makes me think he absolutely will be offered arby. If 1 or 2 guys out of the bullpen are traded I think it is a given Axford will be back. He has been tremendous and due to the lack of saves his 2014 salary probably won't go up all that much. I think Krod and Gomzalez are as good as gone. Axford probably stays and Henderson probably stays. Henderson is cheap, productive, and pre arby. It would take a lot for me to get rid of him despite his age
  2. The emergence of Peralta almost has me to the point of being optimistic for 2014 and not wanting to trade off pieces that could help us next year. Lohse and Peralta could form a nice 1-2 punch and Gallardo + Estrada/Nelson/Hellweg/Etc could be decent enough to fill out the rotation. I don't think I am to the point yet of just wanting to hold tight; but any moves Doug makes should be with the intention of hopefully competing next year. There are enough nice pieces on this team that a full blown rebuild doesn't seem necessary. Peralta's emergence as a potential #2 starter is making believe more and more that this team is closer to competing than not. Just figure out 1st base and try to find one additional solid starter.
  3. The Top #4 teams in the East for next year all strike me as teams the Bucks have absolutely no chance of beating in more than one game. So it really makes no difference if they are the #5 or the #8; its going to be anothe first round exit. Miami, Brooklyn, Chicago, Indiana, NY, and Cleveland are all vastly superior to MIL right now. Detroit, Washington, and Philadelphia should all be improved as well. Even if next year's team is somehow better I just don't see them being able to make the playoffs let alone actually win something. The East has vastly improved.
  4. Roache is having a really nice July at least as numbers go.
  5. St Louis is really one the 10 smallest markets in baseball? I am sure it is true but that doesn't seem right. Milwaukee as a small market needing extra picks like this is one thing, St Louis is hardly a small market that relies on revenue sharing and draft picks to survive. They have the payroll capabilities to sign any player they want.
  6. John Salmons is the only reason he is still employed. And he even screwed that up evantually, Salmons lasted like 3 months in MIL after Hammond gave him that extension. If it weren't for him playing out of his mind for 2 months Hammond probably would have been fired 2 years ago. And evein in that year we didn't make it out of the first round
  7. Sea Gulls Everyday when I walk from the parking lot to my work (maybe 300 feet) there seems to be one stupid seagull with a mission to torment me endlessly. That stupid thing divebombs me and pulls up about 2 feet over my head. Scares the crap out of me. At least he hasn't taken a dump on me yet. No one else at my work is having this problem.
  8. It sure seems less and less likely that Jennings is going to come back. Marshall would be a pretty nice option at PG; really nice passer. Someone who can really pass would make it pretty exciting to watch the big guys like Henson and Sanders.
  9. I also interpreted that article as saying the MLBPA would fight for less than 50 games for a non failed test suspension. Unless I completely misinterpreted it that certainly throws out the notion that there will be 100 or 150 game suspensions.
  10. Its really anyone's guess; primarily because no one knows who will be on the pitching staff. However if you have Gomez, Segura, Lucroy, Braun, Ramirez,Weeks, and Schafer in the lineup I am pretty confident that the offense will be good enough to compete. Probably the only guy a lock to be in the rotation next year is Peralta. Our outlook completely changes if guys like Gallardo, Lohse, Ramirez, Weeks, etc get traded for guys that aren't going to contribute before 2015. I think at this time in August we will have a much better idea if this is going to be a long term rebuild or not.
  11. It sounds like Domonique Jones has had a pretty solid Summer League; he could perhaps be some guard depth and would obviously be cheap. I am sure there are some other PG/SG out there that can be had for cheap. I hope Hammond doesn't feel forced into bringing Jennings back because he didn't get Teague. But if Jennings were to sign the 1 year tender it wouldn't be the end of the world. It would be pretty cheap and then Jennings can be unrestricted going into next year. Plus perhaps Jennings would actually be motivated to improve knowing he will be in full control of his future employment.
  12. Arods camp has already denied this. There is so much information coming out on a daily basis that I am just not believing anything until I see the discipline handed down. I am expecting to see Braun the rest of the year regardless because obviously he is going to appeal. I don't see any scenario where Braun "pleads" with MLB to a lower suspension rather than going through his full appeal rights. I could be wrong but Braun has always denied and I have a hard time believing that he would essentially pronounce his guilt.
  13. Well even if they don't bring Hart back and somehow trade Axford their payroll will be less going into next year. The Brewers aren't going to make any trades purely for payroll reasons; they are going to make them to get something worthwhile in return. Even with lower attendance I wouldn't expect the Brewers to be losing money if their payroll is in the $75-85 million range. And if you take Hart and Axford off the books they are definitely around there without having to trade anyone else. There will be substantial salaries coming off after next year too; I really think that payroll is not a major concern right now.
  14. Brandy Old Fashions are my drink of choice; but the quality of the drink will vary greatly from bar to bar. Plus some places will put a soda like 7up in it and even in WI some places are just lousy at making it. I love the good ones though. I had kicked my dew addiction for a while but when we had our 2nd kid 6 weeks ago and my sleeping suffered I got into a morning MD habit again. Atleast it is still only maybe 5 sodas a week; I have been much worse than that in the past.
  15. Olt appears to have fallen off a little this year. While Aoki certainly wouldn't be enough to get him he definitely is not untouchable anymore. Melvin could put a package together to get him if he really wanted
  16. Ridnour is a really nice backup at PG; Wolters as the lone backup at SG is scary and I am guessing Hammond is trying to find someone there. Delfino could play backup SG as well. They do have some nice quality depth at PF and C, I just hope Henson finds enough minutes. Zaza is a nice player but I want Henson playing as much as possible. They could go really big and put Ersan at 3 and Henson at 4 but Ersan would really struggle defensivly trying to guard small forwards.
  17. I have kind of thought that Arod has been enemy #1 with Braun a close 2nd. Doesn't really matter I guess. MLB is really the only leaker this time around that makes any sense at all and they haven't done a real good job of hiding that fact. They are doing it on purpose for fairly obvious reasons.
  18. I don't know a whole lot about Teague but a lot of people are saying he is a better overall player than Jennings. So if you can get him for 3-4 million a year less than Jennings that seems like a pretty good deal. With so many new players for next year it is really hard to figure out how everyone will mesh together. If I had to guess right now I would say they are a 35-40 win team but who knows. Hammond has completely gutted the guard position.
  19. He definitely looks like a reliever or AAAA guy at this point. How can you throw 95+ and still not strike anyone out. He has no idea where his pitches are going.
  20. There wouldn't be a single guy on the team capable of consistently creating his own shot. I think thats the primary reason they would struggle. Yes Jennings and Ellis were ineffiicent but at least they could get in the lane and make some things happen, I don't think any of the new guys could do that. Drew will have to install a really nice offense for that lineup to produce; I guess we'll see. Plus Mayo, Teague, Delfino, etc have all been complimentary guys in the past with nice talent around them; forcing them to now be the go to guys is probably asking a little much.
  21. A team that starts Teague, Mayo, Delfino, Ersan, and Sanders is going to struggle to score 80 points a game. The greek kid might as well get thrown into the fire because that team will just be brutal. Not that it would be a bad thing but holy crap talk about no offense whatsoever.
  22. I think Lohse has to be a highly sought after guy. He is pitching well and has a reasonable contract with 2 more years of team control. His stuff isn't sexy but if a team needs a #2 starter then he is a great guy to go after. I think the return for Lohse would be higher than most people think. Maybe even better than Gallardo considering Yo's poor year and troubling peripherals
  23. That seems to be taking a huge gamble though. But I suppose Braun probably figured that no matter what he said he was going to get suspended anyway so he might as well hold back until the independent arbitrator comes in to play. I just hope the new guy that replaced Das isn't some MLB stooge that MLBPA was forced to accept.
  24. Regardless of Braun's history with MLB it seems like a very bad idea to not cooperate simply out of spite. Whats the point of waiting to cooperate until you have to appeal the suspension? I am sure both sides were recording the meeting; if Braun simply was truthful about his relationship with Bosch then I really don't see what harm could have come from this. Braun and his legal team probably just have a plan in place if the suspension were issued perhaps something beyond a normal appeal. Who knows; but much like the last time where we were never told a lot of the specifics the same will probably apply here. There is probably evidence that we don't know about and I am sure Braun knows more than what he has let on. That doesn't mean that he bought from Bosch, just that he is keeping certain information close to the vest.
  25. Eh I will believe it when I see it. But if Braun actually did refuse to cooperate with MLB he is really making it hard for me to continue believing him.
