  1. It sucks that Lucroy vetoed but I understand. He has one shot for one last big contract and he felt going to CLE wasn't going to maximize that opportunity. He has a dirt cheap contract o its hard to fault the guy for exercising some leverage. If CLE wasn't going to guaranty he wouldn't the starting C next year then they are morons IMO.
  2. I don't think the Chapman and Miller deals can really compare to the Lucroy deal. Pitching is obviously being valued very heavily this deadline and I don't think the return we got for Lucroy is an indictment on Stearns that he could have done better. Literally every team in contention would want Chapman and Miller and it certainly appears that only CLE and NYM were really interested in Lucroy. Its a demand thing
  3. My hot take - All 3 players appear to have the ability to be contributors at the next level - Mejia is immediately going to go to BC and start like 0-20 because that is just what our prospect do there - Chang looks like he has some nice potential, middle infielders with some pop are always nice - Allen looks like he swings a wet noodle but that OBP and BB/K ratio are amazing and would be extremely useful in MLB - The fact that as of right now we haven't acquired any pitching talent isn't a big deal to me. Stearns has some other pieces that hopefully he can get the pitching from there - It seems to be that pitching is being valued much higher at this deadline; hopefully that bodes well for us today and tomorrow
  4. Are agents really all that involved during trade talks? I wouldn't think rumors coming out now are generated by agents. FA signings sure; but I doubt front offices are really keeping agents of guys they are trading in the loop.
  5. Send them all 3 of our relievers if they want to send us Giolito.
  6. Even if nothing is completed tonight I hope he isn't playing. Would be nice to give him a sendoff at the game though. He was a big part of the best Brewer team in my lifetime.
  7. My question is what would the Brewers do with Arcia, Villar, and Rosario. And that is not including Diaz at Wisconsin or our other middle infield prospects. I mean I guess you could play all of those guys at 3B, SS, and 2B but then that is 3 positions with very minimal power numbers. Diaz has solid power at least. I guess you can never have to many prospects at one position; but I would prefer to fill some organizational holes if at all possible.
  8. I would feel a little better if it was Lucroy & Smith for TDA, Rosario, and Smith/Nimmo
  9. Yeah screw that. TDA has the potential to be a decent replacement catcher IF he stays healthy and Rosario is a nice player and all. But another SS is about the last thing we need for our rebuild. We have SS's coming out of our rear ends.
  10. I was also thinking about that. If Lucroy was traded mid game who the emergency catcher would be. I was hoping it would be someone that would be hilarious to watch back there like Chris Carter (huge) or Scooter (not huge)
  11. It was probably you pay 50% of the remaining contract and we will give you some B level prospect. If the Brewers were strapped for cash maybe; but the payroll is going to be crazy low for the next couple of years. Braun's contract really doesn't hinder the Brewers in any way right now.
  12. Exciting to see 5 guys on the list. Hopefully about 9 months from now we have a couple more. Maybe a couple guys the Brewers already have (Woodruff & Erceg) and maybe a couple guys that we will trade for either now or in the offseason. Surprised to see so many new draftees on the list. I thought the more seasoned guys got the benefit of the doubt on these lists.
  13. No one is going to graduate from the list this year. I will say between now and Spring Training they will pick up 3 and one more Brewer will sneak on the list (Couple possibilities maybe an Erceg or Woodruff). So the Brewers will have 9 guys on the Top 100 next April assuming none of these guys fall off.
  14. That would need to be a creative deal for sure. It doesn't look like they have anything at the MLB level either that has that 4+ years of control left. There whole team is just old.
  15. Couldn't they have at least tried someone other than Blazek? Been there done that; just move on.
  16. I just can't see a scenario where the Brewers can get Moncada. It like the equivalent of the Brewers trading Fielder, Braun or Weeks when they were in AA.
  17. I think the Brewers are well prepared at 3B, SS and 2B (Between Gatewood, Erceg, Arcia, Villar, Diaz, Lara) and OF (Braun, Santana, Phillips, Ray, Clark, Harrison, Reed, Etc) that it is likely at least a couple of those guys will pan out into quality every day major leaguers. Stearns has made obvious strides in improving our MILB system but the one glaring hole he needs to address is power. I don't think we have a single guy that most scouts think could be a 30+ HR guy. I think we have some 20-25 HR guys but that's it.
  18. There is no way they will keep him in A+ 3 years in a row so 2017 is going to be a make or break year for him in Biloxi. He has pretty much fallen out of everyone's Top 15 list already and if he doesn't figure it out next year he absolutely will be in danger of being a MILB FA. His 2nd half has been a bit better at least. BC certainly appears to be where good bats go to die. Corey Ray has been less than inspiring there as well.
  19. Everyone is just rehashing the same prospects and same teams over and over again. I am at the point where I need really hard rumors to get excited. Stearns is way to secretive for my fandom. The Brewers obviously glaring holes in the organization pipeline are starting pitching (High on potential, a little low on results thus far), 1st base (Really nothing going on here), and maybe Catcher (Outside of Nottingham). If those needs align with the prospects we get back that would be awesome; but in the end you really need to get the best players you can regardless of position.
  20. Early returns make Heyward's contract look like the Cubs new Soriano contract.
  21. Plus Torres and Boyer have been pretty good too. Obviously the returns on trading those 2 guys would be quite a bit less but we have 5 relievers that are likely being looked at by contending teams. Thornburg is probably the guy I would least like to trade although I am not exactly sure why. Jeffress being 1 strike away from a lifetime ban probably hurts his value although it certain appears that those demons are behind him
  22. If he stays absolutely healthy the rest of the year I do think it would be a slam dunk that he would get at least 4/80 in todays environment. Probably even more than that. The PED stuff is a couple years in the rearview mirror and at least so far this year has been healthier. No DL stints or other absences for more than 4-5 games that I can recall.
  23. I am sorry but the Braves make no sense. For us sure; but from there perspective its not like they have any hope of competing next year. Maybe they flip him in the offseason? Obviously they have enough prospects to make it happen but it would be really weird.
  24. It sure seams that Stearns has been pretty secretive about his dealing so far. Absolutely no one had any wiff of the Segura that I am aware of.
