  1. He ran a long way to his right, reached out to his right near the wall, and the ball went in and out of his glove. Got an error for that. Later in the inning, a slicing shot was hit to dead center that landed on the warning track or just short of the warning track before bounding over the wall -- Hall's "route" was basically to follow the curve of the ball with his body in a big sinuous arc with his head on a swivel. No error for that, but I believe most centerfielders would've made it look a lot easier and recorded the out.
  2. With the correct angle, Hall catches that ball, too.
  3. You gotta be bleeping kidding me. 2 on and nobody out -- we couldn't do any better at losing games if we were trying. Suppan has the best at bat after getting ducks on while Graffy and Weeks pop up in the infield. Reminds me of the last Suppan start -- wonder what he thinks of his run support as a Brewer. Maybe Sheets shoulda warned him.
  4. I'm sick of leading the league in failed scoring chances. Come on Rickie, get these runs home!!
  5. Looks like I'll be in Chicago tomorrow watching the White Sox take on the Twins, so I'll be absent from practice.
  6. Jamie, I live within a few blocks of you. I'll send you a PM.
  7. If Saturday is rained out, can we shoot for an automatic makeup on Sunday?
  8. This is the first of the Official practices, so all time/date/location information is contained in Jaime's pinned practice thread.
  9. SoCo and CocaCola is a fine, fine combo. And Stoli and 7Up ain't bad either. And Arrested Development season 2 is better than season 1. And USC shoulda beat friggin UNC. And this Taco Bell commercial is making me hungry. And so is that Brewers apparel ebay thread. And hey now umpire, that man's got a horse in his pocket ... now I need a ruling.
  10. Can't help but be excited. The games last year were pretty fun, but I gotta say I had more fun at the practices just playing casually and having a good time with everyone here on some beautiful spring days.
  11. The weather (rain-wise) looks really sketchy for the next handful of days, but the temps are supposed to be unseasonably warm. Maybe we should choose a day/evening and mark it down as weather-permitting? Monday, the high is supposed to be around 70 degrees with "AM showers" according to weather.com. Anyone think we should shoot for that evening after work? Otherwise, Sunday currently shows a high of almost 60 degrees with "Scattered Storms" ... which might mean some areas get little to no rain? I could be up for either or both (let's play two!). EDIT: Hey Jaime, hope I didn't step on any toes. Looks like your "official practice schedule" thread was hot off the presses just a few minutes before this one. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  12. Wow, you nailed it. Nothing gold can stay, I guess.
  13. Great topic. Every time someone comes along and posts in an impetuous and slightly sophomoric style, I think to myself, That could be my sister, dad, or one of my cousins posting. Then I look at how that poster is treated, and I'm astounded ... and I actually get very angry. Committed, enthusiastic fans with decades of frustration behind them are bound to sound a little irrational if they're knew to this site. For a site that was described on WSSP all the time last year as wanting to turn casual fans into die-hard fans, the behavior of the forum can sometimes have a surprising, "No Vacancy" attitude towards said casual fans. An unresearched and statistically-false comment can easily be countered with "I see what you're saying, but here's why people around here will disagree with you..." rather than the elitist half-mocking that typically goes on. Think your way of seeing baseball is more enlightened and rational? Think the new poster is -- deep down -- just an avid Brewers fan just like we all are? Seems like the natural course of action would be to educate the person as you'd educate your own family member or neighbor, not bust out the blue-font sarcasm and/or "you're wasting my time" inferences. My 2 cents.
  14. Map to HC Park: maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?newFL=Use+Address+Below&addr=new+berlin+rd+at+parnell+ave&csz=hales+corners%2C+wi&.intl=us&name=&lat=&lon=&srchtype=a&qty=&new=1&trf=0&getmap=Get+Map ... Parking lot pretty much where the star is, northwest of the pool. It's gonna be muddy. Still some snow out there and everything looked really wet. A 60+ degree day should help, but I'm not sure what to expect, exactly. I plan to get there by 5:30.
  15. If people are down with Hales Corners Park (last year's practice site), I'll do a drive-by tonight after work and see how the field looks. I have several old-school softballs, but I think Jamie should still have a bag of last year's official yellow practice balls.......
  16. I had plans for Tuesday night, but they just fell through. Anyone wanna get together at a park somewhere after work that night? The high temperature on Tuesday is supposed to be around 60 degrees, with forecasts showing temps above 50 degrees still at 6:00. And it's lighter much later now that we're in DST. According to weather.com, temps are supposed to fall drastically starting Wednesday, so if there's interest, I think Tuesday would be the day to do it. I would prefer somewhere in the Hales Corners - West Allis (hwy 100) area.
  17. Thank You for Smoking I laughed, I was entertained, I was caught by surprise. Kept me interested, made me think a little, made me want more. A joy to watch, probably watch it again at some point soon. ~3.75 stars. PCU Kindof a fun movie, but falls short of Van Wilder and probably a few other college/hijinx movies. Overly formulaic. Not really my genre of interest. Woulda got 5.0 stars if Goo Goo Dolls had been the party band like they were supposed to be, instead of Clinton crappiness. ~3.0 stars Big Fish Seen it before, but watched it again for the first time in years. In plain terms, this is a very special movie that, imo, is lightyears above 99% of the rest of Hollywood junk you'll see in a given year. Not perfect, but ambitious, sensible, and generally successful in its endeavor. ~4.0 stars Fargo Overrated trash. Couple of good acting performances save it from being even worse. ~1.75 stars Elf Disappointed. I dislike Will Ferrell almost as much as I dislike Adam Sandler and Jim Carey, but thought maybe Favreau's influence on this movie could bring it up to something better than average. Not terrible, but certainly average. ~2.5 stars Mystic River Extremely disappointed. Gets my vote for one of the most overrated movies of the 2000s. Take a Law & Order episode, add 60 minutes to it, dumb it down, and there you have it. ~1.75 stars Gone in 60 Seconds I pretty much hate Nicholas Cage and hate Hollywood special effects and WATFOs, but I still ended up liking this movie. Must be all the car stuff, I have certain weaknesses. ~3.0 stars The Aviator Except for the scenes involving the Katherine Hepburn character, this was a great movie. Very good performance by DiCaprio. Exciting to follow, nice visuals, intrigue. ~3.25 stars The 40 Year Old Virgin A pleasant surprise considering pretty much every comedy to come out in the last 15 years has sucked. Nothing here that I'd call "classic", but definitely an example of good casting meeting a good script. Big fan of the actors involved. Strayed away from being too predictable. Didn't harp on the "virgin miscues" that I assumed were going to plague the movie ad nauseum. Well done. ~3.5 stars Blow Goodfellas II? A little too similar for my taste. For the most part exciting and stuff, but never really grabbed me and won me over. ~2.75 stars Schindler's List A classic, meaningful, substantial, epic work. Great, great, great performances by Neeson and Fiennes. Could've used more dialogue (damn you Aaron Sorkin!). Movie would've been better without the final scene that pulls you out of the past and into the present. ~4.5 stars Gangs of New York A terrible, superficial, self-importent, over-Hollywooded crapfest. Probably one of the worst directed, acted, written, shot, produced, etc, etc, movies I've ever seen. You know you're in trouble when the usually-regrettable Cameron Diaz turns out to be the glue that actually holds some of this sloppy mess together to achieve some semblance of decent film making. DiCaprio couldn't be more wrong for his role. I just get the feeling Scorsese got halfway through this tripe and gave up trying to do anything halfway intelligent or dramatic with it. There are people that like this movie?? I guess you throw in enough fight scenes and blown up stuff and there's enough lunkhead males out there to keep something like this from flopping. *Hangs head in shame* ~0.5 stars
  18. Eh, much of it felt like more miss than hit. Some good parts. Dwight's inspection stuff was funny at first when he's jamming on the railing, but it got old fast. The scenes with Carol weren't funny. The part in the car near the end where Dwight pops up from the back to say they make a good couple was slow and very unfunny.
  19. Finally got around to watching last week's episode. Very, very good ... reminded me of seasons 1 and 2. More like this, please!
  20. ...and then we can lock up Jones long term and he can break the all-time HR record here in Milwaukee, continuing the tradition. Love it. If this team had Jones in CF and Hall at 3B going into 2007, my expectations would be monumentally high. He's the type of piece that I feel is still missing from our lineup (Carlos' void), which -- imo -- will cause us to hover at or below .500 next year.
  21. Only in a fictional TV show would Toby show up with a girl like that.
  22. And 1B. Who's going to be on the depth chart behind Prince? Hart? What happens if Prince goes down for a stretch, Hart becomes an every day 1B? (Or am I forgetting someone? No Cirillo, no Koskie.)
  23. Oh yeah, and I sent you a message about payment, Jamie. Hopefully you're getting good response from everyone. Seems like the thread about payment was started and the Softball forum went dead immediately!! LOL.
