  1. 1. They roughly are the same as if you just sort all teams by winning %. 2. If it was just that, what would even be the point? 3. If it was some formula, it wouldn't be an article to publish and get eyeballs. 4. Instead of just complaining about how it's a sham, what exactly is your problem with it specifically? Where is it wronging the Brewers?
  2. Thanks to the rainout, Wednesday will now be Skenes vs Miz. Oooh boy.
  3. It's sunk cost, the contract is irrelevant at this point. As you point out, the question has already been answered by what is happening this season, and Yelich is on fire so he's earning it!
  4. I'm not sure whether this will mollify anyone (what am I saying, of course it won't), but in his post game comments Murph shared that Miz was adamant about wanting to challenge himself and go out for the 7th, and he thought it was a good time to do it.
  5. Thanks, helpful to substantiate something otherwise it just comes across as an opinion.
  6. As determined by whom? If they went up for sale today it would undoubtedly be for even more. There is a very limited supply of teams and demand to own one.
  7. Per Forbes, he bought an estimated 45% stake in the team in 2004 for a reported $220 million. That's roughly what I would have said from memory as well, I was pretty confident it was not 50%.
  8. At least in the minors game thread yesterday there was speculation it was for Shay Whitcomb based on him also being pulled from a game.
  9. The MLB.com recap article hit on this (via Murphy's postgame comments) - IIRC he was at 57 pitches through 4. There's just no scenario where you're going to pull your starter the 3rd time through the order in the 5th inning under 60 pitches. You just can't.
  10. Can you include a source?
  11. Did they, though? I think that's overstating it a bit.
  12. If you're trigging the language filter, it means you need to be more thoughtful with your posts and find alternate ways to communicate your meaning. Your general tone also leaves a lot to be desired. We're trying for a different sort of tone and community here, so aligning with that would be appreciated.
  13. They're not. Cash is going to Chicago so this is a zero-sum trade as far as money goes.
  14. Civale has value as a pitcher for the Brewers even if they wanted to keep him as a bulk reliever in the bullpen - arguably more than just swapping for Vaughn. Clearly they feel they have enough bodies, but it's doing to look shortsighted if Patrick suddenly craters or a reliever gets hurt or something. Hopefully they actually see something in Vaughn and weren't just looking to dump him to the first caller.
  15. I think the pitch I enjoyed the most when watching highlights was the K on the changeup. The reaction from the broadcast team was like "wait, that's not even fair."
  16. Yeah, that's an interesting quote juxtaposed with the very reasonable Civale comments directly above. Maybe he meant it in the sense of he shouldn't have even asked for a trade, but at the end of the day, if the Brewers don't trade him, it sure sounds like Civale will do what's asked of him.
  17. If it's a 2-party negotiation where the buyer has all the leverage, this may be true. For a scenario where multiple parties are competing for the same resource, it doesn't really matter whether the seller has to sell or not. The competition is among the buyers. I doubt the whole "organization has to trade X player" makes that much of a difference in most cases. Plenty of teams can use a solid pitcher.
  18. Yes, that makes my point even more strongly. Without the ST arm issue he'd be at short right now, Ortiz 3rd, and Durbin 2nd.
  19. Well, for this situation it's because he was a really good SS and then moved to 2B because Adames was there. But yes, if he hadn't continued to excel at 2B there wouldn't be as much debate.
  20. Knock it off. And I don't understand your condescension at the fact a legitimate response was provided and then you moved the goalposts to specifically be about 2B to SS.
  21. What numbers are you basing this on?
