  1. That's incorrect. From wikipedia: "The selecting team may, at any time, waive the Rule 5 draftee. If a Rule 5 draftee clears waivers by not signing with a new MLB team, he must be offered back to the original team."
  2. I was not expecting to see Cooper Pratt at 98, below Tyler Black at 95.
  3. Cooper Pratt is only relevant insofar as his arrival would allow them to shift Ortiz back to third. Hopefully this will come to pass in the next couple seasons.
  4. Both from a grammatical and content perspective, you can do better.
  5. To be clear, we're taking about number of types of pitches. As you said: I'm just curious how you would back up that opinion at all. My example above was saying that if you were a pitcher that just threw a bunch of sliders, that is arguable more stressful on the arm than someone who throws 4 different pitch types.
  6. Adames left a huge hole, but I don't think it was on defense. I fully expect Ortiz to be better than Willy was last year, and certainly over the next few years should be far better than Willy on the downside of his career.
  7. But you can't just throw out a season of Cortes. Heck, it could easily turn out that a season of Cortes is worth more than a season of Williams. Durbin could never amount to anything and it could still be a net positive trade.
  8. What do those two things have to do with the number of pitches a pitcher throws? Those two things are absolutely true. They also are unrelated to throwing 6 pitches. It's not somehow more stress on your arm if you throw 1 sinker, 1 cutter, 1 4-seam FB, and 1 slider compared to 4 sliders. Generally I'd expect it to be worse for your arm that you threw 4 sliders.
  9. Was it not clear? He had a pretty significant velocity drop, they sent him down to have control over his workload. Initially I think the hope was he would be back up, but the results were just never there.
  10. If nothing else, we won't have to face him this year.
  11. What point are you making? Just posting random links with no context isn't helpful.
  12. It's fine to strongly disagree with a piece, but let's tone down the condescension and insults.
  13. I didn't realize Robertson was still available, that's a bit surprising to me.
  14. Least surprising injury update ever: Rendon to miss extended time with hip surgery. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/43811570/angels-anthony-rendon-hip-surgery-miss-extended
  15. Some great stories from BA never heard before: https://www.mlb.com/brewers/video/brian-anderson-reflects-on-bob-uecker?t=t158-default-vtp He's barely able to hold it together at the end.
  16. Been a good DC.
  17. This'll be the year he finally starts hitting the high fastball!
  18. The article is fine. It's true that the headline states it as fact when we don't know exactly how much extra they may be getting. I think you're being unnecessarily dismissive and pejorative though.
