  1. My goodness: Comparing stat lines with Merrill, I think it's close enough that likely whoever has the best finish will take it (depending on Skenes as well).
  2. Lots of people suck against Helsey, let's not get carried away.
  3. I was at the game too, and that was my take. I think if he would have been called safe it would have stood, but per the comment above, it was incredibly close when the ball entered the glove vs when his foot hit the bag, and you don't really get an angle that shows both of those things at the same time.
  4. For those not watching, did Chourio hit the base wrong or something?
  5. Not watching so can't vouch for that opinion, but his defensive troubles this year are pretty astounding. On the other hand, homer!
  6. Because when you think 2-hole, you think Rhys Hoskins: Also, those Reds BAs. Woof.
  7. Yeah that's his jam - get up with 2 runners on and hit it out.
  8. Ho hum, another clutch hit from Chourio.
  9. So far, so good. On the other side, only 4 hits, but Brewers already working Birdsong for 73 pitches in 3 innings, as they are wont to do.
  10. Per B-R, 2 games in 2017, 1 game 2022, 4 games this year (16.2 total innings).
  11. Why? The player is still on the roster, the team is just saying "we're ok if someone takes him off our hands - please, have him." Until that process has completed he is still property of that team.
  12. The overall point notwithstanding, Mears is different than the other deadline deals in that it was for a pitcher with a lot of control left, not random veteran rental. Much more of long term deal that happened to take place at the deadline.
  13. Mat Gamel and Taylor Green have both crossed my mind recently.
  14. Especially with speed at 3rd, you have to put the ball in play somewhere.
  15. Also, Contreras is on fire and he shouldn't be hitting cleanup behind someone who is far inferior.
  16. Whoops, I think I selected your quote of the original quote, that was confusing. :)
  17. Sure, but who are you putting in LF instead? If it's the same group of players and you're just swapping positions, that obviously doesn't accomplish anything when Perkins and Mitchell are also excellent fielders. Assuming Yelich mostly DHs next year, I'm not sure who we're sticking in LF instead of Chourio.
  18. Skenes can't pitch every day.
