  1. Gasser's gotten a lot of good swings tonight - either misses or poking at the ball.
  2. I read that as attempt a double steal while Yelich was batting to take away the double play. But stealing third is riskier than 2nd (I assume? I haven't actually look at stats).
  3. This is exactly right. Would it be nice if it were a cakewalk? Sure, but if you are going to be a championship team, you need to win when it counts, and beat good teams. SD is a good team, and LA won't be much easier. We'll need to earn it.
  4. Given Sal's series so far, it will not surprise me if he's back in there. I hope Joey is as well. While Hamilton's made some great plays, I do not trust him at all at 3B.
  5. Yeah, unless we were up by 2-3 and we just wanted to completely slam the door, there's no way I'm bringing in Miz when he's pitching Friday if something went haywire. Henderson, sure.
  6. At this point I'm going to be shocked if he doesn't drive in at least one.
  7. Well, it's been 2 games, and we didn't get to play the Cubs.
  8. I'm confident we will score more than 1 run this game, so let's do this, pitchers.
  9. Doing a good job of driving the pitch count up already.
  10. You're lucky this ain't the optimism thread. ;)
  11. Before Sunday, 2018 G6 was my favorite sports experience. Scoring 4 in that opening inning absolutely blew the roof off the place.
  12. I don't know that that's true. Sports books still have Dodgers as slight favorites, but for example ESPN's expert panel soundly picked the Brewers. I think there is broad sentiment that this is a really good Brewers team and it may finally be their year.
  13. I would say he's also earned not being called Pancakes.
  14. That's exactly it. He probably could have thrown 85% effort fastballs and still come out better than walking three guys and facing Chourio.
  15. I think everyone's conditioned to expect the other shoe to drop eventually, but I'm pretty close to agreeing with you. Something random may still happen, but they are the best team in baseball. It will not be a shock if they win it all.
  16. Fun discussion, and obviously there are not really any wrong answers (other than Yuni B, that's definitely a wrong answer ;) ). For me, the heads on the mountain have to be franchise icons. While CC's impact was huge and the performance over that few months was ridiculous, I can't put him on there with Yount and Molitor. I appreciate the arguments for and against Braun. I think if are limiting it to 4, eventually (for sure if they win a Series), Yelich supplants him. Given more than 4 slots, Braun is the natural icon from the previous generation; Yelich is the recent/current, and Chourio is the heir apparent.
  17. Watching the G1 highlights it was clear to me from one of the angles that the ball was going to go foul, as others have said. There was a noticeable change in direction when it hit the wire.
  18. That said, Henderson allowed 2 hits and 1 earned run. The pitching has been amazing all the way down the line, and it's hard for me to see the Padres as obviously the better team. This is playing out exactly the way you might have imagined heading into the series.
  19. Yeah, I wasn't at G5 last year, but this was easily the best sporting experience of my life. At first I was dreading that Turang's awful error was going to be the difference. Then I was feeling pretty pessimistic when Miller blew through the 8th. In the 9th, I was figuring it'd be like the Dodgers game last year where they almost came back against Sasaki. Then they put on a masterclass of pitch selection and patience and once it got back to Chourio, you just knew it was going to happen. And it did.
