  1. Santana+ for Archer, Fulmer, or Duffy.
  2. My wife got free tickets through the girl scouts yesterday. I wonder if that's related?
  3. if one reads "umpire" as a noun, this thread title beats "radio announcers what you want" hands down. It never crossed my mind to use "umpire" as a verb. I was reading this for five minutes trying to figure out what it meant. I thought it must have been done on purpose to mock that title.
  4. Yes, we went in 2009 and it was full of fans. One of our group also went back there after the game without us and saw Sveum slinging some drinks.
  5. http://swankys.com/ This place is a must. I also recommend trying the Rocky Mountain Oysters at the game. Only a few stands sold them so you might have to ask around but they are worth it. Have a beer or two before if you need some courage.
  6. totally agree. Some places you can't just get a normal beer anymore and everything is slowed down because people need to have a discussion about what these beers are, then sample before buying. Overall I really hate the smugness associated with it, even as simply as describing them as 'good' beers while turning the nose up at basic lite beer. I mean, the stuff is intentionally made to be bitter and even many advocates admit they can't drink more than a couple. Why are they so much better, because they charge way more and tell you it's better? To each their own, I don't care, do your thing and I'll do mine. But don't act all smug about it as if I'm a heathen for liking normal beer and then try to continually push this stuff on me and say I'll like it if I try it. No, I won't. A few times after being friendly for a while of someone pushing something and telling some dumb story about how it's so good they can only sell 6 at a time because it sells out so quickly because it's so good type stories blah blah. Eventually I just say, yea I get that problem. High Life is so good and was in so much demand they actually decided they should mass produce millions and millions per year. I enjoy IPAs and craft beers but I also enjoy a nice High Life. The only thing I will not drink is Budweiser. Bud Light doesn't taste horrible, it just doesn't taste like anything.
  7. My wife and I are also planning on heading to Biloxi that same week to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. We're planning on staying at Beau Rivage as well and catching a Shuckers game or two.
  8. Bope. Player has to be eligible the day of the trade. Players can't be traded in the season they are drafted. Is that true though? I thought they couldn't be named as the PTBNL until the day after the end of the World Series but you have 6 months from the trade to name the PTBNL.
  9. I was a huge Gallo fan during the draft and badly wanted to draft him. However, he's not the type of guy I would like to target in a trade. I don't know if that makes any sense but he's just too much of a risk to trade for. I know all prospects have some risk but I think there's potentially better players out there with a bit less risk. With Lucroy, I'm looking for impact pitching as the centerpiece.
  10. Oh please no. The last thing we want is another 2011 where we drafted not one, but two, guys who were supposed to be ready in 2 years. Don't sacrifice talent, especially at #5, just because a guy might be up a year or two earlier. Get the most talent no matter what. We have other guys in the system that could very well make a big jump this year or next and be ready to help in 2018.
  11. A - Jose Bautista B - Chris Davis C - Edwin Encarnacion D - I can't figure out. I thought maybe Big Papi but it doesn't look like it. EDIT: D - Nelson Cruz. Duh.
  12. We stayed at the Westin, where the Brewers usually stay. Last we went was two year's ago but rode the elevator with Lucroy, Reynolds, and Lee Tunnell on different occasions. Also saw Yo, Scooter, Wang, and Lohse in the lobby. As far as the game is concerned, the bleachers are always solid.
  13. That was my first thought when I read that. Nice to see I'm not the only one who thinks that way.
  14. http://winace.courageunfettered.com/pics/broken_record.jpg Exactly, I didn't need to read more than "placeholder level failures" to know who wrote that post.
  15. (Side note: Jonathan Lucroy is our catcher. Matthew LeCroy used to play for the Twins. Only LeCroy capitalizes the C. Noting this only because I've seen this a few times.) I've mentioned this before and believe he does it on purpose, thinking it's cute or something. I hate it when people don't spell the name of a player on your favorite team correctly (Zach v. Zack drives me nuts and people still do it). It's even worse when someone knows they are doing it wrong but do it anyway. /OCD rant over.
  16. But is it really? All I read are proposals that over-inflate the value of the Brewers players. This board "believes" they're knowledgeable. There wasn't one person that posted a response even remotely close to the return in this Lind trade. EVERY proposal was for their top tiered younger pitchers or higher level position players. The LARGE majority of comments since this trade all cry about how this was horrendous. They do so because they don't have a clue how to value players correctly nor how to evaluate talent they seek nor how a successful small/mid market team rebuilds top down. They can't find any scouting info on these three players so it's automatically a horrendous trade because they can't drool over a "scouting report", "projection", "top prospects" lists, etc while simply citing Lind was a 3 WAR player so we should have solely landed known commodities in return. I'm not saying I'm the opposite of this but I'm not going to complain when I know extremely little about these players. I'm still learning how Stearns is operating and what his mind set is (ie how he's going about rebuilding this entire organization). If Stearns trades Khris Davis, which he absolutely should, I can't wait to read those responses when some of you find out his actual worth. A guy some people here speak highly of when he's had 3 productive months offensively the past 2 years (mind you with a 265/330 line as well) while having an absolutely horrendous arm allowing runners to take advantage and move 1st to 3rd on balls hit right at him Relative to other message boards and taking the entire board as a whole (not just this topic) into consideration, yes this is a knowledgeable message board. If you read other teams' message boards (or the JS online comments), you will see what I'm talking about. The majority of those consists of calling each other names and blanket statements without providing facts to back it up.
  17. Exactly. I'm pretty sure nobody heard of Orlando Arcia when he was a 16 year old playing the DSL, unless you were reading the DSL box scores and the Minor League forum. This is a very knowledgeable board and I would say many, if not the majority, of posters on this board were not even aware of him at that time.
  18. I almost wrote the OP to state "without speed or the hot wife", but I wasn't sure of Peterson's marital status. Well if you find out something, I'm sure this guy would like to know. http://www.talk-sports.net/mlb/girlfriend.aspx/Shane_Peterson
  19. I always thought most pitchers were better during the day, at least for the Brewers. Maybe something about the batters having to deal with the sun/shadows?
  20. Alex Rios in 2009.
  21. Wow, that was interesting. I just can't take anyone serious who repeatedly says "should of" instead of "should've" or "should have".
  22. I dont like the Padres system. They completely gutted it in the offseason. I dont even know how much I value a defense first catcher like Hedges.
