  1. I agree with this. And who do we really want to be penciled in for both Garza and Lohse next year? I am all for rebuilding but going into next year and saying ok 2 of Cravvy, Jungmann, and Wagner are going to be in the rotation would be getting a little ahead of ourselves with this whole rebuild. I would rather reward 1 player for a good 2015 and strong spring. (Whoever that is) ... Then use next year as another re-tooling year and look to dump Garza then when he has 1.5 years left. (And we hope he has a great first half next year) A Gomez trade should include an elite pitching prospect to immediately put in the Rotation, think Shelby Miller for 1 year of Jason Heyward. I disagree. This is the kind of thinking that Melvin/Attanasio have used to get us where we are. A Gomez trade should include an elite pitching prospect, no matter what level he's at. In fact, I would almost prefer someone in AA/AAA. We are going nowhere the next two years, no reason to waste a year or two of control. If we get offered a stud pitching prospect who happens to be MLB ready, that's one thing. But we shouldn't limit ourselves to only seeking out that type of player.
  2. Yes, Kolby Allard. But then theress the whole medical thing.
  3. From my fairly limited scouting, I'm liking (in no particular order) Happ, Benintendi, Whitley, Nikorak, and Allard (even with the injury). If St. Louis ends up with Allard, I will be pissed. I really like the movement that Nikorak has, though not sure what his control is like. I would be unimpressed with Funkhouser, Kaprelian or Harris. I'm also not impressed with Kyle Tucker (not sure why, just something I don't like about his swing), though I doubt he would make it to us anyway.
  4. Color me uninspired if it goes this way. There it is. The dreaded "high floor." That's fine if you are already full of high-impact talent but the Brewers aren't.
  5. Wow, that's really disappointing to hear. I was definitely interested in him as well but like you said, I want control. Is it that hard to find a guy who can throw upper 90s with pin-point control and tons of movement?
  6. Has Allard really fallen that far because of his back injury? His stuff just seems so good, plus he's a lefty. IF he's available for the Brewers, I would be all over him.
  7. That was the exact name that came to mind for me. It's just sad to see how low his career OPS numbers are in the minors.
  8. That's where I think the key lies. We could get a guy in A ball now who may be on the cusp of dominance of getting promoted in 2017/2018. Maybe someone similar to what Coulter/Arcia was coming into last season. This also isn't taking into consideration someone we could get for Lohse or Garza. If we're out of it next year, we could even get something valuable for Lind. EDIT: Oldcity, Get out of my head.
  9. Exactly what I was trying to say, you just said it better and 2 minutes earlier. We have not only talent in the minors now, but impact talent. Sure you never know what's going to happen but if I recall, the Cubs at the time (2011) didn't have much, other than Brett Jackson. A year later they had Rizzo and Baez to go with Jackson (Rizzo coming via trade), and by 2013 had added Almora, Soler, Bryant, and Olt. Out of that group, only Jackson (and maybe Olt) are looking like a bust. I think we are starting with a better base than the Cubs did in 2011. Now we just have to draft smart, add a few pieces via trade, and we could be right back in it. With Arcia, Taylor, Coulter, Lara, Gatewood, Harrison, there is something to be excited about. I realize those are all position players, and we can't go out and sign a Lester like the Cubs, but Doug has shown in the past you can trade hitting for pitching. Easier said than done but if we're targeting the BPA (best potential available in this case) in both drafts and trade, we could be dangerous in a few years.
  10. And they are all going to hop up in 2017 and be super stars like Braun right? It takes time even when they do hit the bigs. Realistically this team has 4-5 years if they trade those guys away. I'm with Oldcity on this one. The Brewers could very well be contenders in 2017, maybe 2018 tops, even with trading Lucroy/Gomez, depending of course on the players they got back. If we were to get one stud pitcher (think along lines of Giolito/Syndergaard for example) for one of them and another stud position player (e.g., Seager/Gallo/Correa), plus maybe a few lesser prospects who can contribute, we would be in pretty solid shape. Obviously nothing is a given, but if Arcia continues to progress and is up in 2017, Coulter mashes and comes up in 2017/2018, Segura finds his old self and is maybe moved to 2nd (or is traded for another good package), then we will have lots of talent.
  11. I know it's not realistic, I actually had something written down about Melvin being the greatest GM of all time if he pulled that off. But then I remembered Jeff Suppan and Bill Hall.
  12. Coupling this deal with a Gomez trade to the Mets for SP like Syndergaard and/or Matz and the Brewers re-build could be relatively quick. If we can turn Lucroy, Garza, and Gomez into Swihart, Moncada, Cecchini, and Syndergaard, I would be ecstatic. Our farm system should instantly jump into the top 3rd of teams. I would put 3 of those 4 as our top prospects ahead of Arcia/Coulter. That is a pretty darn good top 5.
  13. The Brewers actually drafted him and I liked him a lot. However, I think they couldn't sign him or something and the Tigers ended up getting him the following year.
  14. Anybody named Trey Cabbage (@treycabz) deserves to be drafted #1 overall.
  15. You mean Darnell Coles? Stan Kyles hasn't been around for a few years and he was the bullpen coach.
  16. Craig Counsell - GM Gabe Kapler - Manager
  17. Yes, I was there a month or so ago for happy hour after work. I liked the atmosphere, had an appetizer and it was pretty good. I remember the prices being very good too, I think it was like $2 for certain cans of beer, including Point.
  18. I have an Alex Morgan jersey. Yes, she's hot.
  19. Ditto. I was about to smash my computer this morning trying to do it. I could either get obstructed view or $200 diamond box. No thanks on either. All I wanted was 4 bleacher tickets. When I finally realized I wasn't going to get them, I settled for Terrace. But then I had to spend another 20 minutes trying to get those because when I tried to order parking, it told me I couldn't. Then there was no way for me to get back to just ordering seats (the checkout button disappeared after I tried to add parking). Pre-sale parking could save me like $15 so I tried to add again on my next order but same story. I finally settled on nosebleeds with no parking. The Brewers really need to figure this crap out. I get that there are a lot of people trying to order, they don't want single seats left, etc. But having my order screwed up because I tried to add parking is inexcusable.
  20. Better be quick, the series finale is next week.
  21. I believe there is but didn't they sell out to Miller? I'm not sure. Miller distributes, Leine's, Coors, Redd's, as well as others. However, there are different local microbrews available if you look. MKE Brewery has a few different selections available I know for sure.
  22. Wow, that team needs a LOT of help.
  23. I've heard that Lesnar actually wants to appear more. He just wants to be paid.
  24. While it makes sense on the surface, it isn't really in Vince's nature. I've read numerous reports that Vince really doesn't think Bryan is a top notch star. And he obviously thinks Reigns is, which is why he is personally writing all of his promos (another reason why people aren't on the Reigns bandwagon anymore, his promos are horrible).
  25. Now I hear Vince no longer wants numbers attached to each Wrestlemania because it makes it sound too old. Instead he wants logos. So are we referring to this year as "Wrestlemania Press Play Icon" and next year as "Wrestlemania Star?" I don't think the Super Bowl or UFC have any problems numbering their events, this shouldn't be any different. I hate to say it but things probably won't get better until Vince is gone for good.
