  1. I'll admit, a lot of this is the pessimist in me coming out. I just fear they're only going to trade a few guys that won't bring back much and then think they could for it again next year.
  2. Then you are horribly negative. Brewers wouldn't trade Arcia last year for Price, why would they now? Why would they trade for a rental period? I must be just missing your sarcasm. I'm not saying I would like it. I just said I would be surprised because that's the kind of stuff that they do. I must have missed it but when was that a rumor last year?
  3. "We're going for it" Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if they traded Arcia and another pitcher for Price.
  4. I think the money saved is often over-looked as a fan. Obviously if they just pocket it and don't use it, it doesn't amount to much. But if they were to turn around and invest that money into scouting/development, I think that's huge.
  5. Excellent point especially when you factor in the other high round disasters they've had like Matusz who ended up in the pen and Hobgood who's never made it past AA, that's quite a bit of potential talent and draft position with nothing to show at the top of the rotation. Arrieta didn't really excel until he reached the Cubs either.
  6. Geez, he doesn't even remember Beckett playing for the Marlins? Now I feel old.
  7. Except you can't offer a player you receive in a trade that year a QO. He has to be with one club for the entire season to receive a QO.
  8. I think you are the only one who thinks Parra is worth of a QO and you say it in every thread. I don't see it. He is not worth $15+ million for even a year. He's been a nice player so far this year but these are career numbers and he's not really a CF. Maybe if he was the missing piece to put us over the edge I might say, sure go for it. But he's not that missing piece and I think his numbers will come back to his career norms. And if someone offers us a B level prospect for Parra, I would be all over that. To think that he will bring back an A level impact prospect is ridiculous. I think teams would have a hard time giving up a prospect like that for Gomez (who's better and has a longer deal), let alone Parra.
  9. I bought one but have yet to use it. Was going to use it for the 4th of July series in Cincy this year but we had to cancel.
  10. I guess you never know. If that's true, I think we need a huge return, correct? Giolito/Taylor from Nationals? Or is that not enough?
  11. Maybe I'm overvaluing our own picks but wow, there's a lot of guys I would want to protect. I went back and forth on Ramirez because we have some nice power guys behind him but I've been a fan of his for awhile, even though he's always been old for his level. RHP Austin Ross SS Orlando Arcia RHP Brooks Hall RHP Jorge Lopez RHP Damien Magnifico 1B Nick Ramirez OF Michael Reed OF Victor Roache 2B Chris McFarland RHP Jorge Ortega LHP Wei-Chung Wang
  12. I agree. Segura alone *could* possibly get him alone.
  13. [sarcasm]And in related news...Justin Hooper, Jon India, Donny Everett, and Tristan Beck have all had a change of heart and will sign for $100k each, with each stating that the dream of playing professional baseball means more than going to college.[/sarcasm] http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view4/1536286/kevin-bacon-finger-crossed-o.gif
  14. It's not even within the realm of being realistic. We are trading Lucroy AND Gomez AND Lind for only one of Houston's top-10 prospects coming into the season? (Plus Singleton, who was a top prospect, but has obviously fallen off a cliff). It's absurd. If u read my previous posts u would see I'm not in favor of what was originally posted. But people shouldn't dismiss the thread outright. We are discussing what exactly we would want in exchange for these guys. Edit: My original post was in response to the idea that these three would never be traded together so it's not even worth discussing. I didn't think that was true, as there is definitely merit in discussing.
  15. http://33.media.tumblr.com/51e87cc7bb9073f502c5b86365b8d0ba/tumblr_mlxakp15K61s0pj15o1_400.gif Just talking hypotheticals here. I think we all know the majority of trades we propose will never come to fruition but it's still worth discussing.
  16. People have posted about this before but attendance will likely not fall below 2 million, even with a bad team. After the historically awful 2002, even 1.7 million fans came out in 2003 (13th of 16 in attendance). They have been competitive just about every year since then but Milwaukee has always had a very supportive fan base. Additionally, many people come for the whole experience of tailgating and partying and don't even care if the Brewers win/lose. I would argue that keeping guys like Lind, Gomez, Segura, Lucroy would do more damage in the long run because it shows that the owners only care about things like attendance and trying to give the false sense that we can compete. Fans aren't stupid. If you show them and make them understand what you are trying to do, i.e., trade our valuable assets now to be even more better in the future, they will come on board.
  17. I align with your thoughts and respect your opinion more than just about anyone who posts here. Glad to see we are in agreement.
  18. Because he was a #1 pick at one point? He's 24 years old and has been among the older players at each level he's been at. He hasn't exactly dominated like he should. He had a nice year in AA last year but he was 23 and it was only 6 starts. His FIP has been on the high side, his K/9 has decreased this year and his B/9 has increased. Obviously small sample size but for a college senior and an older player, I would expect more out of him. I also don't think his "stuff" is that great. On the flip side, as a 19 year old in A ball, Medeiros has a similar walk rate but a 2.92 FIP with over 9 k/9. Appel might have the highest floor but he is what he is at this point. Medieros could really be something special. I suppose it's all a matter of what you value - floor or ceiling.
  19. Ditto on Moran. I didn't like Appel the first time he was drafted, as I'm not sold on him being any more than a mid-rotation guy, tops. I see him more as a back-end guy. He's one of those high floor guys, low ceiling guys to me.
  20. I believe that's why this thread was started.
  21. I wish we could have done Pogokat's trade..unless of course Zach Greinke was a different guy than Zack Greinke. Kind of like Ryan Braun the pitcher vs. our Braun. Then I say no.
  22. I was never a fan of Buxton from the day he was drafted. I don't know why, just gut feeling.

  24. ...they might both be ticketed for Beloit but maybe Clark leapfrogs Harrison? Beloit? He's getting traded to the Twins obviously. Obviously, since Beloit is an affiliate of the A's. Awesome.
