  2. Corey Hart has looked ugly in the field this series (and I'm not talking about his face).
  3. I still can't believe some people thought the Pirates were legit or even had a chance a month ago.
  4. Braun's really good at taking 3rd when nobody's paying attention. Not that it matters now...
  5. I really don't like how Morgan attempts at least one bunt each AB. When you do it that often, the defense is ready for it. Not to mention he usually just puts himself down at least a strike with it. edit: See, good things happen when you swing away.
  6. Wow, just a shocking inning so far. A couple of bloops and a 2-base error.

  8. He said last night he wasn't expecting to miss any time. edit: McCalvy tweet
  9. When I first wrote this up, I said something along the lines of maybe I'm reading too much into it. But Yuku's been messing up for me lately so I lost that post and I must've forgot to include that part the second time. And I've said in the past that I always liked that Roenicke was a "players' manager" and that he seemed laid back. That's why this kind of took me by surprise because I always thought Roenicke was the type of manager who wouldn't let celebrations bother him. But now it looks like I didn't read too much into it because Haudricourt had this quote from him: So it looks like he doesn't actually like the celebration at all but will let it go as long as it isn't after every meaningless hit. And he came out and said he didn't like the Rangers thing last year either. So apparently I was right and he is the type of manager who doesn't like celebrations like that (but he will allow them, at least for now).
  10. I don't wanna come off like an ass but I don't think we need updates on everything that happens in the games. We're in the IGT because we're either watching or listening to it. Posting the results of every hit/run/SB/etc. just clogs the thread up.

  12. I'm not trying to argue, I was just giving my opinion because you said "he must be pretty good at this stuff." I took that to mean that you were attributing (at least partly) their success to his lineups. And just cuz the bench, Yuni, and Narveson of all the hits doesn't really mean anything because this is one game.
  13. The fact that the pitching has been unreal has nothing to do with it? And they also won on the last homestand while the offense was pretty bad. With as good as the team (especially pitching) has been playing, I don't think it really mattered who was managing. All I'm saying, is the way this team is playing is giving me great vibes, and I'm not going to nitpick about stuff that seems to be working. I'm not going to let little things get me down, I'm just going to enjoy the ride and cheer on every single one of these guys. I know there is a lot of people on this board that like to manage from their living room, but I know I couldn't do as good a job as RR has, and that's why I am not going to criticize someone who does something well, that I couldn't. Same reason that I don't feel I have a right to criticize guys like Yuni or Kotsay for doing a job that I know I could never do well. Plus, as I'm typing this, Yuni and Kottaras just got us two runs. That's all I'm saying, trying to bring some more good karma to our boys.I'm enjoying the ride too. I've basically stopped criticizing him since the all-star break. I still think he makes dumb decisions sometimes but a lot of managers do. But I also won't act like he's the reason (or even a part of the reason) that they have been winning because I think he cost them quite a few wins earlier in the year. I just don't like how most people think wins = great manager while losses = bad manager.
  14. That is how I feel. A lot of the complaints seem rather nit picky at this point. The fact that the pitching has been unreal has nothing to do with it? And they also won on the last homestand while the offense was pretty bad. With as good as the team (especially pitching) has been playing, I don't think it really mattered who was managing.
  15. He went back on the ball and it bounced off the wall. He may have had a shot to catch it with a better jump. But then it looked like he was only jogging after the ball after it got away. The throw was kind of close so maybe if he sprinted after it, it would've been closer.
  16. http://brewersbeat.mlblogs.com/2011/08/22/roenicke-urges-care-with-beast-mode/ Apparently Roenicke doesn't like the players to celebrate. I understand that he doesn't want it to look like the players are showing anybody up. I also get that maybe they shouldn't do it after routine singles. But it seems like if Roenicke had his way, he wouldn't allow the beast mode celebration for anything. He says that he doesn't particularly like the celebration but he hasn't earned the same kind of respect that someone like La Russa or Cox has so he wouldn't come right out and outlaw it. As much as I dislike his in-game decisions, lineup/bullpen management, etc., I always thought that Roenicke was the type of manager who could have a good time and have fun. But apparently he's even more old-school than I thought. Managers like this say they have no problem with their players having fun but then they get mad or disapprove of how the players demonstrate that fun. Like Morgan said, they're not trying to show anybody up.
  17. I've mentioned this in other threads but anyone that was in the system before August 31st (and obviously still in the system during the playoffs) can be used to replace an injured player. They didn't need to be on the 40 man at any particular date but must be added to it before being called up. There also used to be a rule about the replacement player playing the exact same position as the player he is replacing (pitcher for pitcher, 2B for 2B, etc.). Then they changed it to simply pitcher for pitcher and non-pitcher for non-pitcher. Not sure if that's still the case or if they got rid of that rule completely.

  20. I actually read the WWE Creative wants to start a Punk/Nash angle with them eventually meeting in the ring. They said they wanted a "big" name for Punk to feud with to help him get over. Apparently Cena wasn't a big enough name and Punk wasn't over enough. Nash has absolutely nothing left in the ring and he's 52. For some reason, people at TNA and WWE think guys over 40 and even 50 are main event worthy. Some guys can still hack it (Angle, Sting, Undertaker) but I'm starting to get sick of these guys being the main focus just because they are bigger names. The young talent needs to be pushed because they are the future. I agree with what you are saying, but in order to push the young talent. They need to beat someone who is over. Now you know Super Cena and Super Orton can't put anyone over, cuz that would be just awful (sarcasm). Nash working with Punk (who is already over), will push him a little bit more with the non CM Punk fans. Can't really seeing it being a good match, but its someone else for Punk to beat other then Cena. Also, with what TNA is doing with all the old wrestlers is a joke. They are burying themselves by not pushing the young guys in the main events. Sting should be feuding with Styles, Daniels, Morgan, Joe, etc. Get the old guys to put over the young guys. WCW was the same way, they go of so much talent during the nWo era (Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho, Stone Cold, etc). Yeah I get that. Which is why I mentioned earlier I'm sick of the rotating champions (Cena, Orton, Edge before injury, HHH, etc.). I just started getting back into it this year since February after not really watching for a couple of years (and before that it was like 5 years without watching). But it really seems like not much has changed in regards to cycling through the same champions. They've pushed younger guys in the past (Sheamus, Morrison, Ziggler, Swagger) only to bury them almost immediately. I did like what they were did with Miz/Cena in order to get Miz over (I think Miz has been great the past year and has improved a lot) and now it seems like they're using Miz to help get Riley over. I just hope they don't end up burying all these guys that they've been building up. And I agree with TNA. I really wanna like it cuz they have some great in-ring performers there and they pull off (or at least used to) some moves that Vince would never allow for fear of injury. But now it's like they want to be WCW Part 2 (even recycling the nWo with The Band and the 4 Horsemen with Fortune). But I do like that TNA is starting to push the X Division again because I think those guys can be the most exciting wrestlers to watch in the business today.
  21. That probably has little effect on attendance, especially a night game. Not to mention adults are the ones who use the most tickets, not kids.
