  1. FSW showed Greinke too. If Gomez could just hit a little, I would love him.
  2. Since he threw 30 pitches in his last simulated game, I think he could go out and throw 50 in his 1st and then 70 in his second and then he could be ready to come back but is limited to 90 or so for his first start. I understand they are being cautious but I think 2 starts is definitely doable.
  3. I was really fired up for it too but was a little underwhelmed. Probably because I didn't really know what it was about. I was picturing something along the lines of LOTR, Braveheart, Kingdom of Heaven, etc. It's got the locale but was a little too "wordy" for me. It looks like the action will pick up eventually though.
  4. I'm not really a Betancourt supporter but I think RoCo is right. He was trying to quickly backhand it because with Victorino running, it would have been a close play. If he just squares himself up with "good fundamentals," it's going to be pretty close at first. He probably could've used his legs a little better on that play and actually attempted to bend down but I really won't fault him for that play alone.
  5. Have Bill and Brian mentioned any possibility of a blister? The guys at ESPN are clueless and haven't said a word, not even after he missed the plate by 6 feet.
  6. Obviously the production over at ESPN is better but they really do have awful announcers. It just sounds like they're uninterested in every game.
  7. Are people watching the FSW or ESPN broadcast? I usually like to hear what the national commentators think, even though they're probably mad that the Red Sox and Yankees aren't playing in this game.
  8. [quote author=crewcrazy wrote: [/b] That's what I was getting at. I just have a hard time complaining about a start that limits walks and extra base hits. It's not his sharpest start, sure, but he's not getting rocked. Wanna rethink that statement now?
  9. I basically wrote the same thing in the off-topic Plush t-shirt thread but thought I'd post here as well: Has anyone else noticed that Nyjer's story about Tony Plush has changed? When he was on the Pirates, he talked about Tony Plush being a gentleman. Yesterday before the game, he did an interview with Telly talking about how Tony Plush is the man you see on the field. Tony Plush is a hardcore, balls-to-the-wall player while Nyjer Morgan is the gentleman and the man who does interviews. I don't know if he got confused and just messed up his characters or if it was a deliberate change. I liked it better when Plush was the gentleman and Morgan was the player because the phrase "Tony Plush is a gentleman" actually fit. Now it doesn't make sense if we go off of what he says in interviews.
  10. When Nyjer was on the Pirates, he talked about Tony Plush being a gentleman. Yesterday before the game, he did an interview with Telly talking about how Tony Plush is the man you see on the field. Tony Plush is a hardcore, balls-to-the-wall player while Nyjer Morgan is the gentleman and the man who does interviews. Somewhere along the way, it seems as if Nyjer/Tony switched personalities. I liked it better when Tony Plush was the gentleman but now it seems that that role is occupied by Mr. Morgan. I still the like the shirt but if we go along with what he/they have said in interviews, Morgan should be on the back of this shirt and Plush should be on the back of the jerseys.
  11. But why not? Why not adjust lineups more frequently for current trends that players are on? It's not like if he gets dropped to 8th he has to stay there. Lineups should be more dynamic.Because players aren't robots. There is a human element to the game and continually switching lineup positions can mess with a player's head. He may put more pressure on himself to succeed and end up playing even worse, trying too hard. I think this happened with Prince a few years ago. He hadn't hit many home runs to start the season and you could tell he was over-swinging to compensate for that. For the most part, lineups should be consistent (at least vs. RHP and LHP), with maybe a few switches every once in awhile. I still don't know what makes you think that McGehee should hit 8th. He has an .800 career MLB OPS in basically 2 seasons and a .740 career MiLB OPS in 6 seasons. Even if he reverts to his MiLB numbers, he would still be a solid 6 hitter, especially when we have Gomez/Morgan, Yuni, and Lucroy playing.
  12. Just had to throw it out there that it's Shaun, not Shawn.
  13. It's not so simple because the plan is for him to play 1B next year when Prince leaves. 1B might not be as difficult to learn as SS but there is still some learning that goes with it. If he is on the major league roster, when will he get experience playing first? At this point in the season, I'd rather have him learning first in the minors this year than learning on the job in the majors next year. Now if our bench continues to be a big problem come July or August and no other moves are made, then I may consider bringing him up. At this point, I just don't think bringing him up to be a pinch hitter is worth him not learning to play 1B in the minors.
  14. I have no idea why Truth got into the main event. The man is 39 years old and doesn't have much talent. I saw him botch at least 2 moves last night against Cena. The only reason he's still around is because all the kids love to sing along to his stupid intro song/rap.
  15. When we went 2 years ago, we were able to tailgate. We were in the parking lot right across the street from left-center field. I don't know if it was technically "allowed" but there were others doing it. Most of the fans were nice too; I expected a little more hostility.
  16. Edge is a loss for sure but how long was he actually going to stick around? We've known for a few years that he only had a few years left in him. He's close to 40 so it isn't that surprising. But I will agree that there isn't much on Smackdown. I've always been a Raw guy cuz that was the original show and it always seemed like it had more talent. There is definitely talent but like I said earlier, it's being wasted. It seems like Vince will give guys like Sheamus or Morrison a fast push and then just as fast, bury them to dark matches and Snooki matches. The talent is there, it's just matter of utilizing it.
  17. I don't know if I agree completely with this. If we're talking about wrestling here, I would say there's plenty of money in the 20s & 30s. Unfortunately, they just aren't buying the specific product they are being given. If they were given something like Attitude-era wrestling, I think they would definitely be buying. Obviously nothing will come close to the Attitude era but that doesn't mean that we can't have something a little more edgy. I think plenty of kids under 18 would still be interested in this. In fact, it would probably draw more. I was around 14 at the beginning of the Attitude era and I loved it. The product out now is being catered to the under 13 crowd. I understand kids will always be a target group for wrestling but I don't think the product should be completely catered to them. I guess I could live with the PG product if the booking was better. I'm just getting sick of seeing the same cycle of contenders for championships (Cena, Edge, Orton, HHH, etc.). They need to start pushing the younger talent. I still think guys like Morrison, Ziggler, Bryan, etc. are being wasted.
  18. I would think that he'd try but when will Vince actually step down. And even when he does, I'm sure he would still have "suggestions" for his son-in-law. I hate to say it but things probably won't change much until Vince is dead.
  19. I always thought Orton had a lot of talent (in-ring at least) and I thought he was one of the better heels out there. Now he's basically a tweener, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. But I do hate his "crazed-look" gimmick thing that he does before he punts someone. It's basically the same thing Edge does before he spears someone. I never was a big fan of moves that take awhile to set up (I think the 619 is the dumbest finisher out there, nobody would just lay on the ropes like that waiting to get kicked in the head). The spear and punt can come out of nowhere but usually both guys drag out their crazed-look setup and it's just dumb. Now there's word that Vince wants to remove any mention of wrestling from the company name and just be known as the WWE. He wants to rebrand and be known as an entertainment company, not a wrestling company. I think that would be an insult to the fans. The wrestling is what entertains us, I couldn't care less about The Chaperone, The Condemned, The Marine, or whatever other crappy movie they make. Edit: Just found this article that pretty much sums up my thoughts.
  20. I had a great time when I went 2 years ago. This is a pretty good resource. We went to one of the bars right outside the stadium after the game, either Al Hrabosky's or Paddy O's, I'm not sure which. But it was a good time. We didn't really have problems with people taunting us either. Downtown also had a few fun bars. We cabbed it everywhere though so I can't really comment on the walking around part. I would also recommend checking out the Sky Box Sports Bar, specifically their BLT with avocado and sweet potato fries.
  21. Actually, that would be HHH-Taker 3 since they first met at WM X-Seven, which I actually think was a better match. This year's started off pretty solid but then it just turned into finisher, pin attempt, kick-out, lay on the ground for 5 minutes, repeat 5 times. Kind of boring to me. Although I did think that it could've been over after HHH pulled off the tombstone.
