  1. [quote author=chickinbrickin wrote: [/b] Agree with the OP. When you "Ace" has an ERA over 6 and there is little to no production other than Braun and Price there is cause for concern. Pair that with the fact that it is basically World Series or bust this year, and you can see why some members of this board think they are under achieving. Yes it is early and yes we have some player coming back, but I see what the OP is saying. Did anyone hope we would be "hovering around .500" at this point when the season began? Like I said, I thought we would be around .500. We were without our all-star RF with basically nobody close to matching his production in his place. We were also without our starting catcher for a few weeks, one of our backend bullpen guys (Hawkins), and our true ace. Then we lost our setup man the first week. I don't see how you could expect anything more than .500. Not to mention we've lost a lot of very close games, especially late in the game, we could easily be a few games over .500. So I don't see a reason to panic. Also, we're not the Yankees or Red Sox, so our mentality should not be World Series or bust. Focus on making the playoffs and then anything can happen from there.
  2. I think it's basically just a quick and easy way to give the fans some kind of memento for Greinke's first start and to get more fans to the game who otherwise wouldn't be going. I don't mind it.
  3. I expected them to be right around .500 until Greinke got back. So we're pretty close to that.
  4. Probably because they want to send Estrada down after his start to make room for Greinke.
  5. Why are you so sure he won't be on the team? Do you think they will keep Boggs over him? Or go back to a 13 pitcher staff? I don't see how they could go the rest of the season with only a 4 man bench so at some point Almonte will have to be addressed.
  6. Ryan Braun has been named the NL player of the month for April. Not totally surprising but there has been other tough competition like Berkman and Ethier.
  7. Update from RR about Braddock, per TH. Seems Braddock may have something similar to what Greinke dealt with.
  8. Felipe Lopez designated for assignment. I think he would be better than Almonte and probably Boggs as well. Since we only have Counsell as the lone backup IF, I would like to see him back.
  9. Just designated for assignment. I would replace Almonte with him in a heartbeat.
  10. I wouldn't necessarily say he was cruising. He struck out a lot more guys but he still walked two guys before the 6th and then walked two guys in the 6th. You're right that walks potentially lead to big innings, especially 4 pitch walks. I know Prince isn't great defensively but that was still a tough play to make, especially with a sliding Corey Hart coming at him. As for the defense letting him down, they turned two double plays and threw out a runner before that inning to erase a couple of walks and hits. I know their defense isn't great but I don't think you can blame this loss on them. It comes down to Yo once again. He's not throwing first pitch strikes, which leads to more pitches, which leads to walks, which leads to guys being able to wait for their pitch and ultimately hits/runs/loss.
  11. All the baserunners will eventually equal runs. He was able work around a few baserunners early (double play) but eventually it all piled together into runs.
  12. I have no idea what the hell is wrong with Yo. Take out his first Atlanta game and he's allowed 66 baserunners (BB + H) in 41.1+ innings. Even with that game it's 70 in about 50 innings.
  13. It's about time their defense gives something up. It was a tough play but they already took away about 3 base hits.
  14. You've got to be kidding me. How many times have we been thrown out at home on a grounder to the infield this year?
  15. Wow, that steal attempt wasn't even close...And then we walk someone.
  16. David Ross? Really? How do you give up a home run to a guy with two first names?
