  1. 15 days puts Sheets comeback right after the double-header. So I count 3 starts until then. Wouldn't he most likely make one start in AAA before being ready, however? That would probably push it to 4 starts.
  2. Cappy missed 4 starts after going on the 15 day DL. Is that basically the minimum Sheets could miss?
  3. If Sheets is fine after the 15 day DL (which is probably a fair guess), I think the Brewers are fine. If he's out for an extended period, this really hurts the Brewers. All these little injuries are adding up.
  4. So, kids aren't playing football and basketball as much, either?
  5. Micah Owings: Awards: 2002 - 2nd team High School All-American UT 2003 - Freshman 1st team All-America UT, 2nd team College All-American UT, Atlantic Coast Conference All-Star UT, Rookie of the Year 2004 - Atlantic Coast Conference All-Star DH/UT 2005 - Conference USA Player of the Year, 3rd team College All-American UT, 3rd team College All-American UT, Conference USA All-Star DH/UT 2006 - Arizona Diamondbacks Minor League Player of the Year LINK
  6. The bigger problem is not having a worldwide draft, IMO. The way it's done now is pretty insane.
  7. Mench is surprisingly not terrible vs righties in his career (.737 OPS since 2004). That is actually pretty terrible for a corner outfielder.
  8. the difference in daily win percentage is strictly a random occurrence. I think the fair way to phrase that is, "the difference is not statistically significant and could be completely explained by luck." Maybe the Brewer players are boozing it up later int the week but these splits aren't proof of it.
  9. My mistake and a very good point. The thought of Cubs fans cheering at Miller Park during the game playoff makes me sick to my stomach. What "thing" could change to keep that from happening, though?
  10. This is a professional sports league we are talking about. The goal of the league is to get as much money as they can from the fans. Why should any fan fan feel compelled to give up a large sum of money to ensure that the ball makes it into the Hall of Fame? The owners, management and players are doing what's best for their own interests and the fans should do likewise. The league can buy the ball themselves if they wanted to ensure the ball ends up in a glass case in Cooperstown.
  11. Wow, I was rooting for Bonds in the all star game and I'll be rooting for him over the next 3 days. Kind of a weird feeling. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  12. I don't know if it's because of how bad some of our other starters have been or because he has pitched decent as of late, but if Bush pitches well tonight, I may feel the need to jump on his bandwagon. He has a 3.15 ERA over his last 7 starts, so that might have something to do with it.
  13. unless something huge changes, the Cubs would have home field advantage either way, hate to say it, but it's the truth. I agree, if the Cubs continue to win every 15 of 19 games for the rest of the year, they will clinch by September.
  14. I'm not blaming anyone for thinking of that blown game, as the Brewers lead in the Central dwindles. A two game swing is huge, after all. I just thought it was important to note that it's worked both ways this year.
  15. I realize that bud. My avatar is of Wendy, not Bud. And I already did note that "these things happen throughout the season, just sucks it was against the Cubs". And all I was noting is that you can point to any of their head to head games and say the result "looms large". It would be a 1.5 game had Jenkins not made that diving catch against the Cubs.
  16. You would consider defacing the ball and costing yourself hundreds of thousands of dollars because of your dislike for a baseball player? I presume this is more of a fantasy, "I totally would do "x"!" type thread?
  17. That Ramirez walk off win is looming so large right now. I wonder if Cub fans talk about this game like that: LINK Every team has a dozen or more games they could point to and say, "we should have won that game." All the head-to-head games are important.
  18. I just don't see why McCalvy would jump on board, though. I haven't really seen Haudricourt mention it. McCalvy even wrote about it in the Sporting News. Of course, he also wrote that Bush is the most likely candidate to lose his spot in the rotation when Yo is there, so I guess there's a couple things I've taken issue with. I don't understand what's going on with him lately.
  19. Do you pay for your season ticket package in full early enough to get the added benefits? I split a 20 game package with a friend that was paid off in December or January. We received something like 10 guest passes to the .300 club. I bought another 20 game package in May but got no .300 club tickets. Talk to your ticket agent if you want the full scoop. EDIT: What about this: LINK Unless you are on the terrace level, you should be good to go.
  20. The Brewers? run prevention at the start of the year was flukish, the product of unusually low home run and hit rates, and as those figures have returned to normal, so has their runs allowed That kind of macro-analysis is fine for getting a quick feel of a team's performance so far but it's a pretty shaky foundation for making playoff predictions. You really need to look at the individual players and compare their 2007 performance to their projected level of performance. For instance, it's a pretty safe bet that Capuano eventually gets his act together and regains the command he's displayed the last couple of years. We wouldn't expect him to have an ERA over 5.0 in October. According to BP's "Adjusted Standings Report: PECOTA Version", the Brewers are still 2:1 favorites over the to win the Central: LINK That takes into account preseason projections.
  21. on the second level in right, there are also stools and tables i believe Another great spot. I've also stood behind the home plate area, although usually only for a couple of innings.
  22. but then I only have access to the bar and restaurant up there, which might not be entirely practical for watching the game. Provided you get there early enough to get a seat, they are very practical. The outside seats are just above section 232 and you can get a small table or just a chair out there.
  23. Hopefully, this allows Yost to use Shouse as a strict LOOGY. He's at the point in his career where he probably shouldn't be pitching against righties at all.
  24. I think what the original poster was referring to are 300 club passes that allow you to get onto the 300 club level. No, he's talking about the 300 club pass, which only gives you access into the bar and restaurant. You need a ticket to a seat on the .300 level to get into the concourse area of the .300 level, which has it's own bar. I believe that if you buy a season ticket package for the .300 level, you get a pass to the 300 club for every ticket you have. Other season ticket holders who paid for their tickets early enough (pre-Chistmas, or there abouts) get a few guest passes to the 300 club.
  25. If this is still going on down the road, then something might have to be considered. Certainly. If Weeks is still hitting miserably in August, it becomes more and more likely that injuries are playing a big part in his struggles.
