Alcides Escobar continues to mash. 3-3 already today with his 20th double of the season. Average is now up to .343 and passed Angel Salome for the league lead in batting average as a 21 year old. Also just noticed that he has 31 steals this season. To tell you the truth I didn't even realize he was much of a base stealer. Looks like he's going to make our front office make decisions on our major infield sooner rather then later.

Trenni has been by far the best side line reporter the Brewers has had that I can remember. Let's hope to keep her for a few years before a national gig opens up for her. I have no doubt she will be an ESPN or Fox Sports girl soon.

Anyone who has followed the amazing link report, (thanks as always Mass Hass, you are amazing) has noticed Mat has been struggling lately. I personally take blame as I put up a Gamel picture on my desktop wallpaper around the start of the slump. This thread is out there in hopes of turning around the slump. Wish him luck, post pictures, put whatever voo doo you have to on this thread to get Mat going again. http://deadspin.com/assets/resources/2008/01/slumpbuster.jpg

Latin players usually don't play in the AFL (though Enrigue Cruz did as an injury replacement for Hardy). My question is, do Canadians play in the AFL? Another thing to remember is, the teams sign up position slots, not players. So the Brewers would likely sign up a catcher, a CF, and a 3B for the AFL. If Salome wasn't available, Lucroy could easily go. If Lucroy can't go to Hawawii, Fryer could easily go there. If Brantley is traded, Cain could go. However, if Gamel wasn't available, they wouldn't have a worthy replacement, unless they sent Green, who might be traded. Because of that, they might not sign up for a 3B slot in Hawaii. For Hawaii I'll guess a catcher, a SS (Brewer 1st, then Farris) and an OF, where they could send Fryer to get ABs, and if he has to fill the catcher slot, then Gindl. Alcides Escobar filled in for Hardy, not Cruz....unless we are talking about different years.

You seem pretty convinced that he can stay at third and I trust your opinion over mine so let me ask you this. Would it hurt to at least let him take some balls in the outfield and at first base or just let him focus on third?

    1. Braun 2. Prince 3. Hart 4. YO 5. Parra
  10. PrimeTime955
How so? I don't have the numbers right in front of me right now but from what I remember, and it's pretty subjective, Gamels error totals have been significantly worse than Brauns were in the minors.
  11. PrimeTime955
Yes but he was a short stop his entire life. I understand its a transition, but it's not that huge of a transition. Bill Hall never handled it, Alex Rodriguez handled it.
  12. PrimeTime955
And Gamel is worse, so I think we have our answer on if Gamel will be our third baseman.
  13. PrimeTime955
Thats a pretty small sample obviously but he also has a ton of talent just look at his draft position. I would assume he would follow a path similar to the one that Jeffress has followed, (hopefully minus the 50 game suspension) with playing the rest of this season in Arizona, and going to West Virginia in his first full season.

I've wavered a bit on this issue and haven't come up with a great answer. I guess in my opinion you have to have at least a clue what your talking about if you claim to be a fan. I don't care that much when you joined on to be a fan, but you should at least be able to name most of the pitchers, our starting lineup, and our top 2-3 prospects. I know that sounds easy to us, but you would be shocked to find the people that can't do that.

Brauns homer was on the last day of a series.

I think your intent here is to say "no Bandwagon Brewer fan" actually says something like this. This thread was started by a Brewer fan for the same reasons that I stated above. Robin Yount and Paul Molitor never did that kind of garbage. I dont even recall Geoff Jenkins doing things like this either in his long career with the Brewers. He has had quite a few instances of showboat type of behavior in the last two years. I just think its a little much. I dont see it as swagger at all, I see it as showing up the other guy. Sooner or later, someone is going to take him to task for it. Good then he will get a free base. In my opinion this is stupid, Ryan Braun is fine and is killing the ball, as long as he keeps putting them out, he can do whatever he wants. If I have to watch Sorino and Aram and Manny and Pujols and any other superstar in the league watch home runs, I might as well get to watch my guy too.

I'm not calling you out specifically, but I've heard a lot of people say that lately and it kind of irks me. I don't have the the time to look up the contracts exacty but looking brief, you have to realize the raises that some of our players are due to receive. If we keep Cameron, he goes up like 4 milPrince is judging my Ryan howard due for like a 7-9 million increase Billy is due like 2 million more Corey Hart will get a huge increase probably like 4 million Suppan is due like 4 million more Hardy will get another mil or 2 Along with the money it's going to cost to reconstruct the bullpen again.

Pedro, extremely generous as always. As a poor college student, I have been un-able to get to a game this season so far. This would be the perfect opportunity to get to my first. Go Crew, and I'm sure I speak for everyone here when I say that you are the man.

Did they just show Durham in the dugout with his giants gear on?

When did we draft someone from Florida State?
  21. PrimeTime955
I would think so from what I'm seeing. Besides having an amazing season, he's starting at third and hitting third for the USA in the futures game. Looks like they think pretty highly of him.

There will be at this olympics but not at the next.
  23. PrimeTime955
This is exactly why I thought Parra should have started the season in the bullpen as a long man and worked his way into the rotation with injuries and performance issues.

To be fair, like you said, Cruz was a rule 5 pick and couldn't be sent down, he had to play sometime to keep some sort of a swing intact. (eliminated long quote --1992)
