  1. I believe Melvin and Braun have made comments about him moving. They both seem willing if they find a 3B. I'll be surprised if Braun actually wants to do it, but like it's been stated - he is willing. As much as I want Braun to stay at 3B, it's good to hear he's willing and if they find another 3B I'd be ok with it.
  2. No news on a LF, however if a serious 3b option comes available, Braun will move to LF. (He wants to as does the organization) Did he say Braun wants to move to LF? Or is willing to move if a 3B comes along? I don't think I've heard anything about Braun wanting to move.
  3. After all the hype this had (every other commercial during the baseball playoffs), I expected more. I didn't mind the Dana Carvey show all that much. I think Frank is talented, but not as a one man show. His Charles Barkley impression is hilarious thought. Almost as good as Madden.
  4. If Braun does this, I guess this answers the question for those who wondered if Braun wanted to improve. I really think that question to begin with was a knock on Ryan. I'm sure Braun has discussed his season with Milwaukee and he appears to be a very competitive guy -- I'm really liking this and we will see if he's improved pretty quick in spring training. This is another example of Milwaukee wanting to keep Braun at 3B and Braun wanting to stay there. He's willing to move to the OF, but I don't think that's his first choice.
  5. That's cool...and addicting.
  6. I was wondering if anyone has the Yount full-size bobblehead for sale? The one I'm looking for is the one with the 1982 blue jersey. My wife dropped the bobblehead this weekend while cleaning some things...Robin's cap and head are damaged so I'm looking to replace it. Please let me know.
  7. There's some rumors in Detroit papers that the Tigers are going to go after Cordero -- especially after this injury.
  8. Injured shoulder moving personal items out of the fires in California. This is too bad. Link
  9. I mostly agree with Backupcatchers. The benefit cost is huge if anything happens. I have never had a major health problem, but I have a friend who took a well paying job with small benefits. He had to have surgery (nothing major, but still surgery) and paid a ton of money for it. I know of a lot of people who would like to retire, but are worried about insurance. As far as pay, I totally agree with the hard work should be there if they're that type of person. I do think, however; that if a person thinks/is paid below value for a considerable amount of time this negates their performance and is not really fair to them in their mind.
  10. I agree Utley is a great player. I'm building on youth (kind of like a video game dynasty I guess), but Utley is a great 2B. This is a position that really doesn't have a done of depth in the bigs as far as offensive production and Utley stands above most.
  11. My first deer hunting season... The second day of deer hunting I was really, really bored. I didn't see anything the day before and I was really tired from getting up so early (I was 12). So I decided I'd bring my game boy up the stand. I played it for awhile to keep busy then put it away. After awhile I heard something moving in the snow. I looked around and I saw my first deer while hunting. I believe it was a 5 - 7 point buck -- decent size, but not a 30 pointer. I stood up to get my gun (which was next to me) and the next thing I hear is cling, cling, cling! It was my game boy hitting every step on the ladder to get up the stand. The deer was long gone by the time I got my gun. Disappointing. Even more so telling deer camp what happened. After that, I never brought my game boy to my stand.
  12. I do like Utley and don't blame anyone by any means for choosing him, but he turns 29 in December. I think he's a really good player, but I'm always afraid of injuries. Weeks is just starting to gain my confidence again. How good is Utley's speed? I know his stolen base numbers are nothing to write home about, but it doesn't appear he attempts them too often.
  13. This time...2B. I'd like to add that I'm building my team very heavy on youth and how I think they'll project out in the future. 1. Brandon Phillips - Has power, decent speed, solid fielding, and is only 26. Doesn't walk as much as I'd like which leads to lower OBP. 2. Robinson Cano - Nice OBP, decent defense, run producer, and is only 25. Could increase walks. 3. Rickie Weeks - Great OBP, good speed, has shown power, and has improved defense -- still not good though. Has history of injuries, inconsistent with power/swing, and despite great OBP and only playing in 118 games was second in strike outs at 2B for players 26 and under. 4. Dustin Pedroia - Clutch, good avg, good OBP, doesn't strike out all that often, and is only 24. Needs to improve power numbers, not a real fast player, and has shown difficulty with curveballs. 5. Ian Kinsler - Has shown some power, good speed, good BB/K, good OBP, and is only 25. Needs to improve defense and avg (although his walks make up for it). Other considerations (including those not included due to my desire to build a young team) - Chase Utley, Placido Polanco, Freddy Sanchez, and Dan Uggla (will be 28 at the beginning of 2008 season). I know I haven't been a big Rickie Weeks fan (until maybe September), but he could very likely be #1 on this list if he can carry over end of 2007 to 2008.
  14. I like how the leagues are different. I do think it gives the AL the advantage in the World Series, but it also gives the NL an advantage. The Bo Sox had to sit Ortiz or Youk and the Rockies are put together to have their best players available to play...or that is the hope in the NL at least. It's the one sport where leagues/conferences have different rules and I think that's unique. I'm not saying it's fun to watch a pitcher bat compared to a professional hitter, but it's unique and I guess you could say it at least makes the games go quicker in the NL than the AL.
  15. I'm not going to worry about Prince and his future in Milwaukee for quite some time. He's playing outstanding. Where will he be in 4 or 5 years? I don't know. I just hope he has a great 2008 and we see this award being given out at Miller Park to him next year!
  16. How many college closers get drafted high? This is just an honest question. I would imagine that most of them were starters or long guys at some point in college and there aren't that many pure closers. Are there a lot that go high in the draft?
  17. I don't know if this is the right place to ask this...but how does Houston view Sarfate? I'm assuming a relief role, but possibly a closer? I know Lidge has had his problems and was maybe a deadline trade. I was just wondering the thoughts out there. I know Sarfate a bit and he did struggle at Nashville. I don't want to say this is or that is the reason, but I think he was really down on himself for not making it to the big league club out of spring training -- he struggled and he admits that. I think that put him in a funk in his own mind a bit and with Houston (a small sample) he looked really, really good. I believe he struck out Ankiel on 100 mph fastball at one point.
  18. If Ned makes the hire, would he pick Kremblas? I'd have to imagine that at this point within the organization Kremblas would replace Yost at least on an interim basis if Ned was let go. Does anyone know what Melvin thinks of Kremblas?
  19. I could go to that website, but I trust the opinions on those that have posted in this forum so far. Like any sport, who gives you the information is the key when you can't see it yourself. Yi is a perfect example of this. I know a few scouts in the NBA -- through friends -- and their opinions are so varied on this guy. We're really just going to have to wait and see how it pans out, but it's better than Tractor Traylor already. I do think it's too early to say his skills are in place. The NBA pre-season is worse than the NFL pre-season. You have starters going against soon to be cut players all the time in the NBA - especially with how much the starters played in the last game. I guess a good question to ask here...What are your expectations for Yi this year?
  20. Did anyone go or watch (I'm not sure if it was on tv in Wisconsin) to the game last night? Yi had a double double and my question is were they tough rebounds (aka not a rebound that bounces out to the 3 point line, but a rebound due to inside position)? Corey Brewer put up 27 points...something tells me he's going to fit very well in the NBA as far as a scorer/slasher.
  21. From what I've read from the scouts it's a huge deal. If he is 22, his ceiling will not be all that high and he most likely won't grow. Many scouts -- those who thought/think he is 19 -- believed he was going to get bigger height wise and weight wise from talking to doctors. That's a huge deal. The scouts also believe he could be a good player -- but it could take time to develop him and the fact that he is/was 19 would mean if he's developed at 22 or 23 he still would have many years to play. If he's developed at 26, it's not as great as an investment.
  22. That was hilarious. I'm not a big Badger guy, but Bo Ryan is a heck of a coach and seems to have a great sense of humor too.
  23. Is there a link or anything for this? I'm not doubting you, but living in Tennessee I don't get any Bucks coverage down here. Did he gain that much muscle since the draft? I still don't think he'll be ready or should he be counted on to be a starting 4 this year. There aren't a lot of great centers out there, but there are a lot of PFs who will abuse him. It probably wouldn't be a huge deal if Bogut was/develops into a defensive presence instead of the biggest flopper in the league -- I admit this even though I'm a huge Bogut fan. Also, being 246 doesn't mean he can't be a 3. His game is that of a 3...not a 4.
  24. I don't think he's 246. I've seen his weight listed anywhere from 225 - 240s -- number variance just like his age. If he's as quick as he's looked at times, he'll be able to play the 3. Unless the Bucks make some big time defensive improvements it won't really matter if he gets burned a few times playing that position. Milwaukee was one of the worst rebounding teams in the league last year and starting Yi at 4 doesn't really improve that in my opinion. It'd be nice to have a Scott Williams (in his Bucks days) to eat some minutes at the 4 since we have plenty of scorers on this team.
