  1. I'm not going to worry about this until I have to. If we continue to draft well and win games, everything will work out. Let's just enjoy the guys while we can, since it's very unlikely they'll be here forever.
  2. How much is Sarfate making this year? I mean if it's not too much I don't see why the Brewers wouldn't have kept him around next year. I think it would've been Sarfate wanting out with hopes of making a big league club/change of scenery type of thing. I know he did like Nashville in his time here, but he wasn't really used all that much this year. I liked him a lot more as a starter than as a relief pitcher.
  3. I think fans view it more harsh on baseball due to the fact that records were broken by those possibly using these substances. Maybe fans think that these drugs directly related to better numbers in baseball, whereas in football there aren't as many records that are held in high standard.
  4. Where has his dad posted? Sorry I haven't seen this.
  5. I'm just thinking here (I don't have proof of this), but that's kind of strange that those Sundays FSN doesn't carry the Brewers....yet they're carrying the Packers. I'm guessing this is a business move (at least at the beginning of the baseball season it was). Just a thought since the Packers play NFC teams in both games.
  6. I guess I don't see why people argue against the inning limitation. The reasoning is usually you have no proof, they pitched more in the old days, etc. This isn't that time or a time to argue that. The Brewers ARE competitive and they can't afford big injuries to high draft picks or high prospects. The core of the team has been set up through the draft. If you don't like the innings limitations that's fine, but if you care about the future of the organization you'd please take this into consideration. Look at this way...we have Yo, CV, and Parra as 3 guys who will be 25 or younger throughout next year and they could each land in a starters role next yeard. Why not watch out for them? If Yo pitching more innings decides our playoff future in your opinion I guess I disagree. I just look at Braun and Yo as in season additions. We did NOT have Yo to begin the year. Everything he gives us is bonus. As far as no research, just look at the Crews past with top prospect pitchers and injuries. If they're too cautious, can you blame them? If Yo goes over his innings and blows out his arm you know darn well what will be said here.
  7. It's all about the Brewers starting pitching. Look at their stats the past few games and they've been fantastic. If the starters keep this up or near it, we'll easily be in the race the last week of the season. I've been really disappointed with the drop off in the lead...but like some have said first place in September. I'm 23 and the Packers have been Wisconsin for my life...but this year there is a competition. This will make fall awesome! I'd also like to add...I have a feeling Ben Sheets will be a stud down the stretch. I'm not a huge big Ben guy (due to his injuries), but the guy picks up the team. He always has and when he has been healthy this year our record is pretty darn good.
  8. That stinks if it's true...I guess it's one of the perks of living in Tennessee for me. The negative though is that I cannot watch Reds games on MLB.tv due to "local blackout" wihch I think is sad. My guess is that if it's close at that point ESPN will pick it up, but it won't be something announced until the week of.
  9. Hopefully Dennis ends up with a MLB the rest of the year. If only he could get his control problems fixed with the Brewers...
  10. They did drop Sarfate.
  11. Anyway he remains with the Sounds? It doesn't sound like Melvin is considering that at this point.
  12. Is it true he's been designated for assignment? I know there have been a few Dennis guys around here and this is kind of sad in my opinion. I know I've had high hopes and continue to (even though he hasn't come through yet). Are the chances good he's back with the Crew/org? I'll be at the playoff game this Saturday and I hope I get a chance to see him pitch again.
  13. I don't think the AAA playoff mean nothing...they still have to fill out the roster somehow, but I do understand they need to call them up. This thread led me to a few questions... It seems here that most believe Vinny Rottino is the catcher to fill in for Miller and Estrada...Vinny (according to baseball cube) has played 2 innings at catcher in the bigs. Do the Brewers see him as a candidate? Also, is everyone aware of the season Rivera is having? He has decent power numbers in AAA, but his avg and obp % is awful for a player who did perform well last year with the Brewers.
  14. Bray doesn't have an A + pitch. I've seen him pitch a few times and I really like the guy. He's kind of like Mike DiFelice. If you want Bray up, you want them both up. I'd like to see him get a shot and he's done all that he can to earn a promotion. Also, I don't think it's fair to associate Aquino with the other "rookies" as some have put it. He's 29 and pitched 34, 35, and 42 games for Arizona from 2004 - 2006. It wasn't a great time to put him in since he hasn't pitched in the bigs that much this year, but it's not like Stetter and making his first few appearances. With 115 MLB innings pitched (all in relief), Aquino shouldn't be let off the hook for the game because he's a "rookie". He just didn't pitch well.
  15. It's at least good to see Seth get a little brewerfan love. I know I posted a bunch of things in the minor league forum and it quickly turned into why Balfour is better than McClung. He still does have some potential and hopefully he can be a piece to what we all are hoping for which is playoff baseball.
  16. As some of you know here, I'm pretty high on McClung. I've seen him pitch in Nashville a bit and he really can throw the heat. I know the Sounds used him a bit as a starter. I don't know if that's exactly where he fits anymore after his surgery. I think he can help out the Brewers -- but I don't think he can save the bullpen. In my opinion, he is an upgrade over Balfour (3 years younger and throws 8 - 10 mph faster). Was Balfour misused? I really don't get into that kind of stuff. When it's your turn to pitch, you have a job to do just like any other person. I'd love to see McClung pitch a lot due to the face we'd be able to see what he's made of and because he's out of options after this year. His walks scare me, but I think he can throw the heat. He told me he was looking forward to getting back in the bigs and it would take him a bit to relax once he's up. This all being said I think he has a future. One red mark on him is what happened this spring. He pretty much had the closer job before spring training and showed up 20 - 25 pounds too heavy and thus was sent to AAA (he had rough spring numbers also). He played outstanding in AAA, but didn't really get a shot with the D Rays. If anyone can save the bullpen, it's the starting pitchers.
  17. I'm guessing we don't get the 3 picks and we did give up Inman. I didn't like the deal when it happened and I still don't. I don't think the bullpen has been nearly as bad as the starting pitchers, but there's not much we can do about the deal now, but we can try to somehow win the next two games and make this interesting. Also, I know there are some Sheets love/hate around here. If he's a #1 pitcher, it's time to show it.
  18. CV can be recalled due to Vargas on the DL and the 10 day rule doesn't apply to replacing players placed on the DL. I think he still has his option if he's called back within 18 days, which in this case he would still have the option.
  19. I wouldn't mind seeing DiFelice called up either. I've been to a few of his games and he is very efficient. Seeing him in Vargas' spot would be kind of night and day in relation to game times. I was just maybe guessing Dickey due to the fact he was the next in line at one point earlier this year (I believe it was when we played the Cards).
  20. Wow did I get ripped apart. My expectations for Weeks relate to his power numbers. I think his wrist is hurting him and it may never be back. Look at why he was sent down -- to get at bats and start swinging. There's no way the small sample of at bats has everything to do with his BA moving up. I understand he called called up due to injuries, but there were other options available. If you want to talk numbers, look at Dickey's numbers since he was moved back into the rotation in Nashville. He did have an ERA around 6 going on end of June - early July. If Dickey making one start is the reason we don't win division, I do not know anything about baseball. This is why CV was sent down (let me know if I missed something). He was sent down to get back in form and be stretched out to possibly start down the road. How does one appearance do that? Maybe sending him down to pitch in one game and bringing him back makes sense, but I don't see it.
  21. To continue my post that was locked (sorry I didn't know where to post it, but here makes sense). I wouldn't mind Dickey called up because that would allow CV some more time to get on track and if Dickey doesn't do well that really won't hurt anything and give him a chance (I know he has failed in the past in the bigs) to reward him for what he's done in Nashville. As far as Weeks, I just don't think he's done all that well since he has been back. I still have really high expectations for him, but his power is still lacking. He played in a few games and I don't think calling him back up right away was the right move. The Brewers haven't made sense with Weeks at all this year. Yost announces he's benched and then a day later starts him and the whole benching thing was gone. They send Weeks down to AAA to get a lot of at-bats to get his swing back and he plays a few games down there and gets called up. I just think that doesn't make sense. Rickie can take pitches and his on base is pretty good. It's just you have to decide what the plan is and stick to it. If CV is really going to help us in September and maybe beyond he needs to regain his form. Does one 4 inning start in Nashville do that? Or is it that plus the 3 IP he threw in Milwaukee before getting sent down help that too? Does this make sense to anyone else?
  22. I'll just be disappointed if CV is called up. This could be like Weeks all over again. It doesn't make sense to send him down for him to get his stuff together and then call him up right away. I don't know if there's a legit option on the 40-man roster to fill in besides CV though. It would be nice to see Dickey come up though, since this would give CV a chance to get back on track.
  23. From everything I've heard the Brewers don't want to lose minor league games due to weather. I used to live a few minutes from the T-Rats and went to games where there was snow and games cancelled due to snow. I don't think the Brewers want to do this, but I'm sure if a brand new stadium is possible they'll at least think about it. I'd rather it be an A team though than AA or AAA.
  24. Haven't the Brewers been repackaging the same faces for awhile (minus of course the minor league talent that has been called up)? Fans will come if the Brewers are winners. I think the main point should be will Cappy help the Brewers win in '08 and based on his results this year the answer would be now. It's not about who is on the team, but it is about putting a winning team on the field. If they keep him, and he turns it around I'm sure fans will show up. Do you think they would not come to a winning team's game because of Cappy?
  25. CV as a starter? He hasn't been in Nashville all that long. He hasn't been stretched out that much yet. This would be just like calling up Weeks. My guess is that it will be Sheets. I think that makes the most sense or possibly McClung will be gone for Sheets and CV to get to Milwaukee.
