  1. Is Yi actually going to be able to be a PF though? I just don't see him fitting that role at all. I know he can leap and block shots, but he's nowhere near ready to play defense in the post. He's going to have to put on a lot of weight -- even more than Ming had to or the Bucks need to move him to SF. I think Yi will be a good to even a great player, but there's going to be a transition period -- especially with the team we already have in place. I really wish we could've moved CV and I had high hopes for him when we traded Ford, but he just looks like a different player. Yi may be forced to play the 4 this year and hopefully he holds up.
  2. A couple of thoughts on Yi... 1. He needs to prove he can play in the NBA before I'll get too worried about him staying long-term. 2. This concerns me the most -- there are reports out there that Yi is not 19. That he is 21 or 22. This is a huge difference and I really hope the Bucks have some proof or confidence that he's 19. 3. He's going to be a PR machine for the Bucks. If all goes well in Milwaukee, he could help the Bucks get the money for a new arena. 4. From what I've heard in training camp his defense is just awful. He's not going to be much more of a scoring 4 -- which doesn't quite work out in the NBA. So he'll have to get better. 5. I don't really think he cared where he was going to play. He was just a puppet. They probably told him you won't make money in Milwaukee or be noticed and that's all he knew. I don't think for a guy coming from his country it will really matter where he plays. They'll watch him no matter what team he is on.
  3. I agree with the lawyer part at the end. Kind of seemed out of character (even for those two guys). I liked the first show more than the second, but the second wasn't all that bad.
  4. Brett Favre...and not just because it's his birthday today!
  5. http://www.thetennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071009/SPORTS0401/71009015 Congrats Manny! To think...I got your game worn 1982 Brewers throwback jersey right before he got called up!
  6. I don't know if this has been posted, but I wanted to see everyone's thoughts. In the beginning of the year Ned was saying and acting like he was calm and it's a long season. We got into August and he tried to keep that same attitude -- at least portraying it that way -- then he blew up. Did anyone else notice this? I'm guessing the pressure got to him, but maybe it's because he was acting like the 24-10 wasn't a big deal, etc. Thoughts?
  7. I think it's a pretty classy move. I did like the fact that he did some baseball history in there. His product is selling well and he just wanted to thank the customers.
  8. I think Oscar was in an episode or 2 of 24. He was a pilot I think.
  9. I have a feeling the Brewers will make at least one somewhat big trade. I don't think they'll be signing anyone (ie Suppan type contract). I'd love to see them trade Sheets, but I don't see that happening. My guess (like some have said) it will be one of our starters and an OF. For what? I'm thinking a solid corner OF and maybe a nugget relief pitcher. I just can't see the Brewers replacing Estrada after one year (I wish they would) and I don't know if they really would go with Gross as part of the corner OF for the whole year (once again I wish they would).
  10. I love this show. I do think though it takes a few episodes to get hooked on it. My wife watched a couple shows and really didn't like it. She watched a few more though and now loves. Characters take a little getting used to.
  11. As far as the social life, I would try to get involved in as many things as possible (that you enjoy of course). I was an RA for 3 years at UW-M and I can tell you that a lot of people even in the dorms have a hard time meeting people (mostly due to the way the rooms are set up in my opinion). There are a lot of programs that go on in the dorms (as RAs we have to do them) and some might not seem like all that fun, but there will be people there that you can meet. Hope this helps.
  12. I forget what ESPN channel it was, but over a lunch break I saw some "stackers" thing on it. Kids have teams and stack cups in different formations and stuff and try to beat the other team. How is this on ESPN?
  13. It's too bad he hasn't gotten it together yet. It makes the McClung deal look solid since McClung has lowered his ERA lately and in general improved from a few bad rough starts.
  14. I just don't think you can read too much into it. He's getting a chance to play in the bigs and I think that's what he wanted. He said Saturday night he enjoyed his time in the organization (and there was no media or anything around), so I think we need to cut Sarfate some slack here. He knows he has control problems and he just didn't get it worked out with the organization. It's not like Sarfate complained about the organization while he was with us.
  15. I don't know how much I'd read into the comments. He's probably just trying to say the right things. He didn't seem upset or anything Saturday night about the demotion. I know he was a little bummed to be leaving some of the guys he's been with for awhile.
  16. Let's not get into the Balfour and McClung thing. You can't completely disagree with the trade due to the fact that McClung is younger and throw harder. They both have positives and negatives. Yost may have not used Balfour the best, but hopefuly they'll both succeed where they are now.
  17. I know Sarfate has spoken to Jones since the injury and said that Jonesy (I guess that's what the players call him) has been in good spirits since the injury (I guess that's the norm for him is that he has a positive attitude). That's all I've heard regarding Jones.
  18. I would contact MLBTV. Like I mentioned, they're pretty quick. I had IP issues when I moved down to Tennessee, but I believe they are able to "unblock" games if you can call from a land line to prove your actual address. They do this because based on your IP address they usually can tell where you are living. There are sometimes problems with many main ISPs that give out "dummy" IP addresses and MLBTV cannot determine where you are logging in from (once again a phone call clears this up). Make sure to type in the zip code on their page to double check whether or not you should be blacked out. For some reason, the Reds are close enough to me that I can't get any Reds games (stinks for this weekend). Hope this helps.
  19. It's based on your location (you can type in the zip code at MLB TV to see if this applies) or it could possibly a national black out. If these aren't true, then call them. I've had problems getting Brewers games in Nashville and they've been able to fix it pretty quick.
  20. I really hope Drew Anderson is not in teams long term plans. Why is he on the 40 man roster? To me, it's really not a good idea to have him on that list and not have some other guys on it. He really doesn't possess anything special and has been hitting in the 3 hole most of the year in Nashville (yet he lacks the power to hit there). Is he just a organization favorite or what? I could see a lot of useful options on the 40 man than Anderson. It'd be easy to get Bray on the roster if Anderson is the only obstacle.
  21. That's good and all, but I don't think it's that crazy of a thing that he was a spring training non-roster player. We all knew why he wasn't up with the team and we all knew he could hit...maybe not this well, but it wasn't like Braun was a below average 30+ year old that came up and did it.
  22. Let's just see if Weeks keeps this up. He's been more bad than good this year. I hope he gets it together this year, but honestly I'm not looking at Weeks as a cornerstone for this franchise or a must keep until he actually puts a season together. I think his high draft pick status leads to the added expectations, but I for one am still disappointed (I know his on base is great, but I want a heck of a lot more from this high of a pick than a great on base number). Maybe the scar tissue is gone or getting better? Or it's just another Weeks teasing going on...either way if he steps up it helps the Crew.
  23. Bray should be up. He was one of the only guys left in the bullpen last night and Kyles (the pitching coach) came and talked to him at one point about why they didn't use him. Not really sure what he said, but I hope I haven't seen the last of Bray in Milwaukee's organization. He is younger than DiFelice and Dickey (I'm assuming age is why they probably won't get called up).
  24. Went to the game last night and guess who was there in street clothes? Dennis Sarfate. He talked a lot and seemed to be in a good mood with all the guys. He said a lot of personal stuff which I don't think really belongs here (it was all positive in relation to his experience, etc). He's hearing whispers that a deal could possibly done Monday and he's not exactly sure where, but he's thinking it might be with Kansas City. He knows this...he's getting on a plane on Monday to his new team, but he doesn't know where it will be. I hope this really works out and Sarfate is a great guy and I think he's going to really miss the Brewers organization. Let's hope he's in the big next week!
