So what does this all mean? The way I look at it is that if he plays and doesn't bat he loses his streak. Maybe I'm missing something. Interesting about the walks and such.
There is no radar gun at Greer Stadium, but the bullpen pitchers were thinking he can hit 100 when he was warming up. He easily throws harder than any other player on the Sounds.
I have been singing his praises for awhile. It'll be interesting to see how Nashville uses him until he gets called up. I don't expect the Brewers needing him to start the rest of the year unless something crazy happens.
This is just something I was talking with my buddy the other day. If for example, a player has a 25 game hitting streak going and they take a game off. Now let's say due to an injury or defensive replacement need that player comes in and plays defense, but does not have a single plate appearance would the player still have the hit streak going? Or would it end do to the fact that the player played in a game without earning a hit?
I think JJ is slotted at 8 for awhile. He's done well in the small sample and it just makes sense. I echo the thoughts above about not hitting Estrada there since it would take a heck of a bunt to get him the second safely.
I wonder what the long term plan is for McClung? When I was at the first game he pitched I was blown away by his velocity and instantly thought of a setup guy or closer. Starter wouldn't be too bad, but I don't know if he has enough pitches to be consistent through the line up more than once in the bigs.
I'd like to see Gross start, but I don't know if that will happen with the Brewers. He is still somewhat young in age. As far as Ned, I think some just don't like the way he has used the bullpen. It obviously isn't his fault with the struggles of the starters getting through 5 innings. Hopefully the off day today will help rejuvenate the boys a bit.
Only 1 walk. I think it's time to really consider getting him on the club in a few days once he's rested up. How much longer can we let CV struggle? CV will be good, but we can't continue to allow him to trot out there the way things are going.
Yea I've seen him play in 2 games. He's really tearing it up and his on base is pretty high. He did have an error in the field last night (looks like he lost it in the sun). I don't know if it really matters what he does until the Brewers pitching staff gets somewhat settled down to the point where they can send one down to Nashville.
Went to the Sounds game tonight and noticed McClung is scheduled to start tomorrow. Should be interesting to see how he does since he has done pretty well so far (9.0 IP, 10K, 0.00 ERA). Hope it goes well for him and we see him in Milwaukee in September.
That's a cool story. I saw him a few weeks ago in Nashville and he can put on a show in batting practice. Hope he has a good showing in the bigs just not against the Brewers.
An injury to someone on the MLB team? Or an injury to the player sent down? I just want to make sure I understand this...and then be upset that I won't see Rickie play in Nashville on Saturday.
McClung's problem has been control and I'm just thinking Maddux might be able to do something. A lot of people are saying the Brewers are tired and if in fact this is true it's not Maddux's fault. At the rate we're playing now why not bring up a guy that can nearly hit 100 mph on the gun?
As far as the accounts being fake, all the Brewers guys are friends with each other. They don't join groups or usually post anything and they accept every friend and their profiles aren't anything bad. In fact, they usually don't even upload pictures or anything. I know it's easy to set these up...but why would anyone set all these up? If you don't believe it, that's fine. These players are people too and it shouldn't be that shocking. Almost everyone 22 - 25 is on facebook or at least know about.
I thought a player had to be in AAA for ten days? If this is the case (which I'm pretty sure it is), Weeks cannot be called up right away. Maybe Crabbe? Wow these rosters are bouncing up and down. Something has to work.
It's 18 days I believe. I think he got sent down August 1st...but does it matter when he actually reports? He has to be there until August 11th...and I have front row seats to Saturday's game in Nashville, so I hope he's playing.
Hardy will stay after at BP and sign balls. He replies back with messages and all that and one of my friends got his autograph by sending him a message on facebook (JJ signed it after BP and recognized him from faceboook). Edit: And yes I do realize anyone can make these accounts. I don't really care if you think they're fake. I just think it's interesting.
The accounts are legit. Hardy messages back to fans and waits sometimes after BP to sign requests he got via facebook. Braun, Fielder, Weeks, Gwynn, and Hardy are all on it. I think it's something that keeps them busy late at night after road games.
I don't know. Weeks recruited most of the younger guys to get on it. I guess he has been updating his status every once in awhile things like "one step at a time", "nobody's fault, but my own", etc. It's something the guys look at after night games when they're on the road.
