  1. I doubt we will get the quality of Garrison, Inman, and Thatcher in those draft picks. I wish we would've just trusted Thatcher enough to allow him to occupy the spot Linebrink has. The guy looks very ordinary, and his numbers LAST year weren't even that great. ERA on the road this year is terrible and Petco is just a graveyard for batters.
  2. I disagree that our core does not include Prince and I do believe we can and will be able to afford him. I hate the "everyone knows" suggestion.
  3. The fantasy baseball player in me was hoping for a deal, but I'm glad DM did not mortgage the future for another 2 month rental. Makes me wonder if we couldn't have had Gagne instead of Linebrink if we had combined our offers a bit. Maybe Inman, Garrison, and Gwynn would've gotten us Gagne, who I think is head shoulders above Linebrink. Oh well, coulda shoulda....let's hope Coco and T-Bow get some rest and come out of it.
  4. Many teams are looking for help in the bullpen. It's not that easy to get a deal done. Boston is giving up some excellent prospects. Doug obviously wasn't willing to match that, and I agree with him. Maybe at some point we have to believe(hope, pray?) that Turnbow, Villy, and Cordero will get hot again. I'm glad DM did not panic and give up too much.
  5. If we can get Gagne and Laird for Gwynn and T-Bow I'm all for it but I pray Dougie does not deal Villy or Parra. I think we should add an earmark to all trades that includes Suppan.
  6. Torii Hunter? Move Hall to 2B, trade Weeks to Minny?
  7. Parra and Gwynn for Torii Hunter? Mentioned in rotoworld article and I thought I would just throw that out there. Hall would move to 2B. It won't happen, but should it?
  8. As mentioned in rotoworld, trade Parra and Gwynn for Torii Hunter. Move Hall to 2B. I can dream, can't I?
  9. Slow feet, you can see it when he runs too. Looks like he has a piece of glass stuck in his foot. Maybe the whole ligament injury is pestering him and he remains quiet. Positioning is the only solution and I don't think the Brewers do that as well as they did with Dauer.
  10. Right move but I would change Gwynn to Gross. I still believe that Gross deserves a chance. He would provide a solid OBP along with some pop and good defense. Hall to 2B will not happen.
  11. I'm not voting either way on this idea, but I certainly do need a break at this point. It's been so long that we've had this chance that the emotions of losing these games is taxing. I'm going to boycott for my own health, nothing against the crew.
  12. I never complained about Graffy at 3B, so I guess you are wrong about that. I'll take Graffy at 2B, thanks. Weeks is terrible. I don't care if he walks every once in a long while. He can't hit, period. I'll take Callix Crabbe, can't do any worse. Flame away, I'm in the mood. I'm not sky is falling here, just trying to find a spot on the diamond we can improve. Seems like second base.
  13. Just wondering, if we are not currently in development mode, why is Rickie Weeks in the majors?
  14. Sounds like a 3 way deal that they want to include the Brewers in. I still find nothing wrong with standing pat. I really don't see anyone coming in here and making us that much better. Either this team is good enough or it isn't. Two things that would make us instantly better would be a demotion of Weeks and a month off for Suppan.
  15. 1. Gary Sheffield 2. Jeff Kent 3. Carlos Zambrano 4. Aramis Ramirez 5. Kenny Rogers
  16. I'm sure Linebrink is disappointed. He leaves many friends, a great city, and is in the middle of adding a child to his family; who wouldn't be disappointed? That doesn't mean he hates Milwaukee, it simply means he was a good teammate who enjoyed his city and team.
  17. Wasn't Weeks benched? I swear he was benched one day and leading off the next.
  18. I agree, but are we even good enough with him that we want to send out more prospects? I just can't see it.
  19. Maybe the plan accelerated a little too quickly in the first half this year, and we really aren't that good. If that is true, then Melvin should've sat with what we had and not given up Inman for Linebrink, who I think is an average pitcher in a pitcher's park.
  20. Linebrink was actually demoted in San Diego the day he was traded, but he might get a chance to close with Coco out for sure tomorrow. Ned clearly chose this series to get some rest for his young guys and it backfired. Not to say they would've won with them, we'll never know. Those Cincy guys must be really tired though as they played every game. Rest them against the Cubs? It'll be intersting to see if Cubs can hit the great Cincy staff better than we did.
  21. Not sure how Hattegburg, Dunn, Griffey, and Phillips managed to make it through all 4 games. They must be damn tired right now. I suppose they will rest them against the Cubs?
  22. Interesting article in San Diego paper today, stating that Bud Black was taking Linebrink out of the setup role due to his recent poor outings. Lose your job in the morning and your team in the afternoon. Tough day. They must not think much of him if they would deal him in a pennant race.
  23. I don't care too much about the prospect thing, but Linebrink is overrated. His numbers last year were nothing special and he's pitching in an extreme pitchers park. I have no problem with it as I was not enamored with the prospects, but I think we need to keep this in perspective and realize Linebrink is just above average.
  24. I think you could get Texeira if you want to part with Inman, Z. Jackson, Jeffress, and Cain. Yes, I think it would take that much. Worth it? I don't know. They are good prospects but that is all they are. Now thinking about LaPorta and how silly this whole thread is. Fun to speculate and dream though.
  25. Estrada caught 10+ innings last night. Unfortunately his benching tonight probably has nothing to do with his jogging. Lineup is really struggling right now. I think Shrek is going to have a good night along with Counsell.
