  1. Sort of......Gabe Gross...laugh if you want..I will be vindicated.
  2. Um, Gross? .380 OBP with more time last year and regular OBP in minor leagues as well. I'm screaming for Ned to give him a chance.
  3. 7- 9 million per year? Really? That would shock me, but this is MLB. I certainly believe he needs a rest right now, as the swing is getting long and slow. He has had a couple big hits in the past week, but they are getting a bit too few and far between. Call me crazy, but I still think Gross is our best option in LF. Hope Jenks can turn it around though. It would be nice for him to have success with a good team for once.
  4. Yost states in JS that Weathers just made a good pitch on Johnny...but the problem is Ned you don't have to throw a good pitch to Johnny....any old pitch will do. Also love the description of Johnny as a slow runner..try jogger.
  5. I'm sorry but I completely disagree with the post regarding Estrada. On the plus side, T-Bow was GREAT!!
  6. Had Yost gotten on Estrada about his weeble wobble jog to first on Saturday, maybe he runs a little harder and maybe he beats the throw tonight. That puts Cordero in the game. Ned is not the blame for the loss, but he needs to go off on Estrada so this does not happen a third time and possibly cost us a game. As far as Balfour, the guy is just a nervous wreck on the mound. His history with the Twins suggests this is not just an anomoly, but rather a tendency not to throw strikes at the big league level.
  7. I indirectly blame Yost for one thing tonight, and that is Estrada not running hard to first. Against SF Saturday, a groundball was hit to first by Estrada, he did his usual weeble wobble jog to first. Meanwhile, Lincecum was playing soccer with the baseball at 1B. Had Estrada run, he may have been safe. I was wondering if Yost would admonish Estrada. It is clear he did not. Well, Mr. Yost, that may have cost you tonight. I don't care about having only one more catcher, Yost should've sent a message loud and clear and benched Estrada. Had Yost talked to Estrada on Saturday, maybe he runs hard and maybe he is safe, maybe. I simply can't stand to watch Estrada play baseball.
  8. I disagree that Weeks should start tonight. Yost is trying to build his confidence, and Harang is nasty and his slider would likely give Weeks major problems. I'm not all that excited about Weeks' recent production. He still hasn't really hit a ball hard in the last month. When I see a line drive to the gap I will start believing. Yes, he is walking again, but probably only because the scouting report said don't throw him a strike...and Rickie caught on.
  9. Before seeing Mench's numbers I was thinking the best guy to be in RF tonight would be Gross. I thought sending Gross down to get some AB's was a good idea, but wouldn't he be a better option in the small Cincy park than Gwynn? Also, don't we lose Gwynn this weekend for Hall of Fame? Does he go down with Hall activated Wednesday?
  10. Estrada rarely has a chance to throw out the runner, but his mechanics behind the plate and his arm are pretty pathetic. If you were to show youngsters the fundamentals of catching you would not want Estrada anywhere near them. He plays the game half-a** much of the time, refusing to run hard on ground balls and swings at pretty much anything. Can't wait until he is done in Milwaukee. I'm sure I'm in the very small minority on this one.
  11. I've been torn on this one for a long time. The two biggest holes in the offense have been 2B and LF. I think there is a lot of sentiment toward keeping Jenkins due to his long service with the Brewers and finally getting a chance to win. Also, who other than Dunn would actually start for us? As for 2B, I think we will be ok with Graffy and hopefully Weeks can turn it up. I think a Hall return is really all that we are going to get, and hopefully the young guys can pick it back up. My predicted pickups at the deadline are Jeff Conine and David Weathers. Zach Jackson and possibly Sarfate go bye-bye.
  12. I'm not judging Balfour on one(actually two) outings. He has a limited history but he has not had the same success at major league level as minors. He walks far too many and when in Minnesota before the surgery his ERA was over 4; way too high for a reliever. He did hit 94 yesterday according to the FSN graphic.
  13. Gross needs the at bats. I think he gets the shaft in Milwaukee anyway, so maybe if he hits we can either trade him or give him the shot he deserves. Gross has shown when he gets time(at both minor and major league level) that he will have an OBP of around .380 and gives you some power, good defense and average speed. I actually think he could outproduce Jenkins if he were given similar playing time. Good luck Gabe.
  14. Brett...he may not have thrown 3 innings yet, but he is 29 yrs old and has not shown success in the big leagues before or after the surgery. Not sure how many innings you want him to throw before we can make a judgement, but for the sake of our team I hope it isn't too many.
  15. 'overmatched' was probably a poor choice of words, but c'mon, great stuff?? He throws low 90's with a slider, nothing special at all. His fastball is usually up in the zone, and that is a poor combination with a slider. It needs to start on the same plane. He needs to relax and throw strikes, which he has not been able to do at the MAJOR league level. My overmatched word was probably not appropriate but Great Stuff is just as ridiculous, if not more so.
  16. I would think it would be Ballfour that goes down. He is clearly overmatched at this level.
  17. A bit nervous on opening night, to be expected. Said the Brewers have a lot of history, especially in the past. Also said no offense to Schroeder but he always thought of Sutton as #20 for the Brewers. Wasn't Schroeder #21? Maybe I'm messed up there. He looks like he will be a good addition.
  18. Rick Braun mentioned in his chat that Dave Krynzel has retired. Can anyone confirm that?
  19. Count me in but I think it would take Inman, Jeffress, Gwynn and possibly another to get him. He is a bit of a head case but so is Manny Ramirez and he seems to show up and play. If we could get Cabrera and put him in LF we would be serious World Series contenders. So watch, the Cubs will probably get him.
  20. Weeks isn't going anywhere except possibly Nashville.
  21. I disagree with the possible move of Hall, but totally agree on Hardy wearing down. I said at the break that I wish he wasn't an all-star. He is dragging. Is it just me, or does he run like he has a piece of glass stuck in his foot. I also think his range is less right now and even his arm seems a little weaker. I suppose this is common for a guy that just hasn't played that much.
  22. Lofton and Gagne make a ton of sense for the Cubs. That would hurt. I think we need to get another reliever as clearly Grant Ballfour is a AAAA pitcher.
  23. Dunn likes Milwaukee about as much as the Chinese delegation and that lawyer Feces. Fun to speculate but this is complete garbage. Reds GM would be immediately Bowdened.
  24. Agree big time about Hart. He is pulling off and is not even close to many pitches. JJ had a couple hits the other day but his bat seems a bit slow right now. Combine that with a Jenkins slump, Weeks non-existent and Hall injured and we certainly are struggling with the bat right now. I didn't like the approach of Graffy and Miller when we had two on and nobody out. Make Davis throw some pitches, he'll walk the yard. Feel bad for Grant but we were warned that his fastball was usually up. Not a good combination for a slider pitcher as you need both pitches to start on the same plane, like Cordero. He seemed nervous as hell for a guy who was 29 and had 55 games in. Hope Yovani can pick us up tomorrow.
  25. At some point don't you at least try something different? Open your stance, keep the bat still, bat left handed, something!! When he does make contact it goes nowhere.
