  1. Anyone else without an audio feed on FSN? I have U-Verse
  2. I don't really root for any other teams. But I usually root for former Brewers. I liked the Twins last year when they had Cirillo. I still always cheer for Carlos Lee. I'll have to add Jenkins this year.
  3. Customer Service from a Doctor! So I have had been a customer of Shopko Eye Care in West Bend for around 4 years. (Evan longer history with Shopko) Last year, after an appointment to get new contacts the eye doctor recommened contacts made for astigmatism. (I have an astigmatism in one eye that keeps me vision a little blurred.) So we tried out a contact for it. After about a week, I really didn't notice a difference in my vision. So we decided on the Accuvue 2 Hydroclear (for comfort reasons). I ordered my contacts through Shopko. After they called and asked me to pick them up - I forgot for a while. About a month went by when I remembered. So I went to pick them up and they said "didn't you already pick them up?" Well, somewhere they lost the record that I had them still in an open order. In short, they made me feel as though I was stealing from them by requesting my order. In the end, they ended up giving me my order. (6 boxes of Hydroclear. 6.00 strength for both eyes) So this year I went to order my contacts again. I asked if I needed an appointment. I was told no because I had one last year. So they would just reorder my contacts. When I went and picked up my order (I didn't really look or pay attention at the time) I had received 6 boxes of Accuvue 2 - one at 6.00 strength and 1 at 6.50 strength. A completely different product and strength that I had been wearing! I went to return them and was told that was my prescription from last year. (So they must have messed up last year then) I didn't want these as I preferred the more comfortable Hydroclear. I had only used 1 pair so far. I wanted to return the 4 unopened boxes to get something else. (Likely the Hydroclear) Well they weren't too happy with me. (What did I do!?!?) Anyways, I asked to make an appointment to see the eye doctor again. I don't see as well as I would like. So my vision has either gotten worse in the past year, my astigmatism is bothering me more, or I did need the upgraded lenses. But any of the 3 scenarios where possible. They had already max billed my insurance for my contacts. So I would have to pay for the appointment. I said that was fine - I just wanted to make sure I was in the right contact. I returned the contacts...and they were not sure how to handle a return when I needed a different product. (Insurance kinda makes that messy) Well, I get in to see the doctor and this is how our conversation went...(I haven't said a thing yet) Doctor: We put you in these contacts last year because that was your prescription. Me: Well, I am just not seeing quite as well as I would like to... Doctor: (Cutting me off) You might never see as well as you like to! But this is what helped you see the best. Me: Well, last year I tried an astigmatism contact. I thought maybe my astigmatism is bothering me more... Doctor: (Getting upset) Look, I don't let anyone tell me how to fit my lenses. You got a prescription from last year and....(rambling on) My jaw was just on the floor at this point. I was back in the chair in his office already as he was sitting there yelling at me. I just stood up and said "I'll just take my business elsewhere" - to which he quickly replied "Good - go ahead" I walked out without another word. That was about 15 minutes ago. All I wanted was to see a better. Talk about failing as a Doctor.
  4. Hall laced a ball into LF and sprinted out of the box. Last year he watched a lot of those thinking it was a home run. Glad to see him running.
  5. I looked at the title....fully aware that today is April Fools Day...and was still scared. Brewerfan.net = crack.
  6. Can I put a vote in for "Player who makes the biggest jump during the season"... Also, I am curious where Taylor Green is slotted.
  7. Show the freakin pitch! I am sick of the late camera switches!
  8. I'll just add that I am surprised by the love Yi gets. Bogut is the only player I want to keep. Yi is tall - but doesn't really rebound, block shots or post up very well. So that pretty much leaves him as a shooter. And he isn't that great of a shooter either. Rumor today has Doug Collins turning the Bucks down again. And Herb Kohl wants to bring in Walsh and Larry Brown as coach.
  9. Alright, I can't argue at all with anyone above these names. They are all the obvious choices. Allen Iverson is the shooting guard. Anthony Carter is Denver's point guard. Andre Miller is pretty much a push in my eyes. Brandon Roy is the shooting guard. Steve Blake is the point guard. Calderon might be better. I like his game. But, if you have Calderon - you have to consider TJ Ford. (Ford is getting a few starts now) And lastly, I'll take Mo over Felton.
  10. There are 13 players in the NBA averaging more assists than Mo Williams. So there are plenty of point guards who are worse. I would honestly put Mo Williams in the top 10 in NBA point guards. (Not because he is that good, buy find a quality point guard is really really hard to do!) My point is thus, Mo Williams isn't a horrible point guard. But I would prefer his 6 assist and 18 points at the SG spot. Mo Williams and Michael Redd are both horrible on defense. I'll give up Redd's extra 5 points per game and take Mo Williams assists from the SG spot. Redd does not make the Bucks a better team. (And his contract is worse)
  11. Considering the flaws in the Nielsen ratings that dramatically undervalued the amount of viewers per Brewer games and the general increase in interest around the state for the Milwaukee Brewers..... FSN is going to end up paying a lot more for the Brewers going forward. That is a big reason why we are going to be able to afford some of our young players. I like WTMJ. But I would bet Powell could be bought by the Brewers if needed. More money = better players.
  12. I thought about putting this in the Ned Yost 2008 Last Shot thread, but didn't really want to create more Ned bashing. I am just posting this so people can look at the study and how they evaluated the Managers. Anyways, according to the Wall Street Journal - Ned Yost is the 3rd Best MLB Manager If a Mod wants to add this to the Ned Yost thread or move it to the Statistical Analysis forum - feel free.
  13. Koskie was very good. His injury was a freak accident. We traded nothing for him, AND Toronto paid most of his salary. That might have been Doug's best move. Here is my question for everyone... when you break down all of his moves one by one, you can certainly argue that he has lost/missed on some. But isn't the end result all that really matters? Who would you still have on our team that isn't now? (Other than possibly Cordero - and frankly Gagne for 1 year instead of Cordero for 4 years is a push to me) Did we lose the Linebrink trade? Maybe, but Inman looks like he might never be a ML pitcher. Thatcher has been very solid for San Diego, but he probably wouldn't be in our bullpen this year. ( I think Stetter is pretty similar) Did we lose the Davis trade? Maybe, but did we really want to give Doug Davis a long term contract? Eveland has yet to prove his is ML pitcher and I believe Krynzel is out of baseball. Davis was only under contract for one more year. So we traded one year of Davis for a year of Vargas and Estrada. Did we lose the Suppan signing? Maybe, but he definately has value to our ball club. He takes the ball every five days and eats innings to help save our bullpen. He is probably overpaid - but that signing likely played some role in making Milwaukee a legitimate MLB team. Did you really want to overpay to keep Carlos Lee for 30 years at $60 million a year? Bottom line...Given our budget, I can't imagine putting a better team on the field that we will in 2008.
  14. People who boo make me mad. (Letting out a disappointed grunt doesn't count as booing. Literally cupping your hand to your mouth with the intention of making yourself heard is booing) Do you think any Brewer has ever been booed and immediately thought - "Wow, the fans are displeased. I should try harder!" I think players know when they are performing poorly - piling on does not help.
  15. Without knowing anything...or being much of a gear head for that matter... It sounds like a head gasket. Depending on the value of the car, I would probably fix it. Fix it and it should be good for a 100,000 miles. I know the bill sounds daunting - but are you going to buy another car for $1100? If nothing else is wrong with this one...why not just keep it? Of course, I have heard plenty of stories about owners cleaning up their vehicles to look nice and then trading it in.
  16. Doug Melvin is General Manager. He has many people reporting to him in regards to how the organization is run. While admittedly, he has final say in almost everything - his duties aren't comparable to fantasy baseball. It isn't simply drafting players and making trades. He is building an entire team, not just baseball players. He has to manage his employees. He has to manage the farm systems. He has to juggle contracts. He has to plan for the draft. He has to plan for free agency. He has to work with in a budget to make the Brewers competitive every year. He has to time player development to ensure a constant flow through the system. (Melvin also made Milwaukee a desirable place for Free Agents as evident by Cameron, Gagne and Schilling's interest) (Don't forget the amazing success the Brewers have had with Draft & Follow Candidates. While picking the players might be a credit to Jack Z. Using the system is a credit to Melvin.) Some personnel moves work out. Some personnel moves don't. (For those upset about Yost, I think Melvin has developed a consistency with the Brewers that was sorely lacking. While you may or may not like Yost as a coach, I think having that consistency with young players certainly has some benefits.) But the bottom line...I think the Brewers are being run very well. And that goes beyond just selecting the right players.
  17. I think Capuano is going to be out for the year. If he has surgery, he is out for the year. If he waits six weeks, he probably won't be any better and still require surgery. In that case, he is out for a year + six weeks. Might as well see how it feels in six weeks - but I would put the odds around 2%.
  18. The whole point of that trade was that our 3 unmovable contracts = NY 1 unmoveable contract. No one wins. We just end up with the same amount of money tied up in crap. And to make matters worse - we would have Randolph on our team. I would cry if Zach Randolph ever became a Milwaukee Buck.
  19. For what it is worth, I know Ned said he wanted to maintain continuity in his offense. Since he plans on batting Cameron 2nd when he returns, whoever fills in for Cameron will also bat 2nd. Ned doesn't want to juggle the line-up this year. I doubt that makes you feel better, but there you go. As for Gwynn and Prince batting back to back - we will just wear through opponents bullpens faster. If you bring in a LHP to face them, you have to remove that pitcher for Braun. (As Braun kills LHP)
  20. Villanueva obviously has a change-up. And I like to call Turnbow's pitch "The Nasty" or "The Ugly" depending on where it goes. Gagne has a really big breaking ball (must be a curve) around 69 MPH.
  21. I am not surprised that Munson made it through waivers. (Does anyone really want him on their opening day roster?) But I would be suprised if he didn't sign with another team as a minor leaguer. He is better than a back-up in AAA. Someone will let him start this year in AAA with a chance of a call-up.
  22. Are they next to each other though? I could only find standing room only?
  23. Salty's shine has really worn off lately. Some scouts think he will never be good enough as a "catcher" (Defense and game calling) to actually play. The thinking is that he might end up as a 1B. And frankly, as a 1b, his bat is nothing special.
  24. M'eh. Unless Eveland turns into something with the A's - I am still not losing sleep. I would like to think that Davis, Eveland and Krynzel could have gotten us something better. Just like I would like to think Vargas could have gotten us anything right now. Maybe there wasn't much interest in any of those players? Either way, we are a better team now than if we had kept Davis, Eveland and Krynzel. So it still worked out.
  25. I believe whomever they would try to send down would have to accept. Rivera and Munson are both decent back-ups at the MLB level. They are very good 3rd catchers to have in AAA in case of an emergency. I can't imagine either of them accepting backing up Rottino in AAA over other opportunities. (I am sure at least one club would take them as a starter in AAA)
