  1. I read yesterday (not sure where) that he would consider being an assistant for a former assistant, not sure if that was the authors speculation or he had on good authority. There isn't really any internal candidates, but I do think Lewis would be a fine candidate. And please, no Jim Leonard. He had 1 good season as a DC in college on a veteran team. Thats not enough to move up to a DC in the pros. He would have to come here as a secondary coach for a while before.
  2. There is something to this, but lets face it, the cubs are a more desirable free agency destination than Milwaukee right now. They went to the playoffs 3 straight seasons and wont a title 2 years ago. We haven't been to the playoffs since 2011. The brewers had a nice season last year but I don't think top free agents are going to be breaking down the downsteps to come here quite yet.
  3. can't get the image to show, but the actual uniform is much better than the rumored one. Really like what the bulls did, incorporating the city flag. The Jazz, Mavs, and Hawks though are not good. https://twitter.com/JayTeeP216/status/941381139087921152/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fbleacherreport.com%2Farticles%2F2749371-nba-2k18-leaks-city-edition-jerseys
  4. he got the same amount of money as Swarzkyk, i would have rather have signed Chisek. another good signing by the cubs.
  5. happy that the brewers passed on the pick. wasn't too concerned about loosing anything of value.
  6. there are some here that needs to relax. There has been maybe a dozen major moves so far. I am going to predict that within the next week something will be done by DS. No reason to overpay or give up too extra prospects at this point in the offseason. The brewers are a good team and don't need that much. We could sign Arietta today if we gave him 200MM, then would you be happy because we made a move?
  7. that is ALOT of money for someone who had 1 good season. I agree best of luck.
  8. yeah the cubs don't have the prospects to do it IMO.
  9. cubs are in serious talks with rays? http://www.12up.com/posts/5901151-report-cubs-trade-talks-for-chris-archer-might-be-getting-serious take the source for what it is
  10. I believe last season was similar, not much movement the first 2 days. Groundwork is being laid now for moves and trades. I think once the first big Free Agent signs it will set the market and more moves will follow soon thereafter.
  11. I really don't think much is needed. I would love if the brewers traded one OF, resigned Swarczyk, added one more reliever and starter via free agency or trade. I would really like an outfield of Brinson, Phillips and Braun, with Santana traded for said pitching.
  12. glad they moved away from the day by day reveals the sweatshirt and brewmaster shirt highlight the list for me https://www.mlb.com/brewers/tickets/promotions/featured-giveaways?partnerId=ed-12130598-1037418513
  13. if its just a salary dump, and NYM would like a lower level not elite prospect back or a older player like Orf who doesn't figure in the long term plans, fine. No I'm not giving up on Villar for Harvey.
  14. [sarcasm]well in fairness to them they have fired almost all of their staff[/sarcasm]
  15. sounds like you have most things covered. I was going to help you on where to park for free and where to get dinner before the game, but seems like that is taken care of. I can tell you that it seems like the 2 atriums closer to state street are easier to get in (not sure if this is the case due to the new arena) and when you leave do not go down the escalators but there are stairs in the corners that are much easier to leave. Have fun.
  16. he changed his name to his mothers last name.
  17. Some would say this is bad for baseball and yes it in the short term it is as the rich got richer without having to give up top prospects / players. I hope this is a wake up call for GMs and owners to stop overpaying players with full no trade clauses, which would be good for baseball. Stanton's contract was way above market value, which if it would have worked out it would have been OK, but it hasn't so now the Marlins have new ownership and an untraceable contract with a player in full control of where he goes. Of course the Marlins got nothing back.
  18. Id rather do this than throw money at Arietta or Lynn.
  19. his ERA was 2.5 runs less on the road last season, BA 100 points lower. its alot of money but if the brewers did the same thing i wouldn't be upset.
  20. his road numbers were pretty good last season, probably a good signing for the cubs. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/12/cubs-sign-tyler-chatwood.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook
  21. especially since he is a free agent at seasons end.
  22. I like the move, although its going to confuse all of us when we wonder who the heck is Trent Grisham. https://www.milb.com/milb/news/milwaukee-brewers-trent-grisham-starting-next-chapter-with-new-name/c-262529210
  23. susac has one minor league option remaining. thanks I think i had it mixed it. he will be fine for triple A. wonder if they will try to trade Bandy them since catching is so weak and he is out of options. He did enough last season to atleast be someones backup, just don't see it here unless there is an spring training injury.
  24. good deal IMO. Great clubhouse guy, I am fine with him and Pina splitting duties, knowing that Susac and Bandy may be gone with no options remaining. I agree that Susac is very vulnerable with his 40 man roster spot knowing it would be difficult for him to make the 25 man out of spring.
  25. Yes, it seems that Marquette has had more people leave the program that most, but players leave for many reasons. As the program improves players see playing time decrease and want to find a better opportunity, which is understandable. I think the majority of the players listed above left for a loss of playing time (Carter, Cohen, Burton, Dawson) Cheatham left for personal reasons (which could be anything). I am not sure what the heck happened to McKay or Taylor) I agree they need to add a guard and a grad transfer would be the best option with Rowsey graduating this season.
