  1. thanks for the advice guys, i'm going to discount tomorrow to see what i can find.
  2. i think i will go for a medium spiciness, nothing outstanding just chili powder, spanish onions, turkey, tomatoes, garbanzo beans. i'm not much of a cook so i am making a basic one.
  3. i need some brewerfan.net help. my friends and i are having a beer and chili contest next weekend. i got the chili taken care of but i need to get a 6 pack of beer that compliments my chili. i really don't do micro's only miller lite, what would you beer connoisseur recommend. It would have to be something that i can find in milwaukee and would work with a turkey chili.
  4. tried to watch it last night but sat through 30 minutes of red sox stuff and was tired so i will try to catch it off of the dvr tonight.
  5. i thought it was a pretty good episode. i think the first 2 weeks existed to set up the rest of the season. it will pick up. parks and rec knocks it out of the park every week, and i am warming up to whitney after it. didn't really like the first episode but loved last nights.
  6. both those shows are awful (but i don't think i'm in their target audience since i feel like the new girl is geared for teenage girls and whitney is for 20 something females)
  7. you can still buy playoff tickets on their website too.
  8. the last 3 full time marlin managers were fredi gonzalez, edwin rodriguez and ozzie guillen. if one doesn't think there is atleast something to it in selling extra tickets, you are kidding yourself. i never intended to make a racist comment. mlbtrade rumors posts a nice article on trading managers and getting the return, and makes my point better than me Given the nature of a manager's contributions, it is hard to see any team swapping players for a manager and coming out ahead. Let's take a closer look at how this value measures up to the other manager-based swaps at the time they occured. http://www.mlbtraderumors...trading-the-manager.html
  9. yeah i sat in seats similar before, they are fine.
  10. i'll admit that my post was poorly worded and factually incorrect. that being said the marlins are giving their #5 prospect away for a manager. Managers are hired to be fired. Rare is the Bobby Cox managerial run these days. You are looking at a player that could play short for you for 6 years. In addition you are doubling Ozzies contract. The Rays would probably admit that trading Wynn for Pinella was a mistake. For the Packers it worked out fine because they won a championship. The larger point is that the Marlins are not really that close to contending. They have nice players. They have a nice core group of players and will be greatly helped by getting Johnson back next year. its tough to make a call though that they are ready to take on the phils for a nl east title next season. I think getting Guillen is a good PR move, but baseball wise doesn't makes sense.
  11. my bad should have actually looked it up of just said latin american.
  12. never understood giving up actual players for a manager. i understand they were minor leaguers and i haven't seen their names yet but i doubt they are top prospects. that being said this seems like more a ploy to get people excited for the new stadium instead of a baseball move. they should have never got rid of fredi gonzalez if they wanted a mexican manager.
  13. i liked the quirkiness and full on creepiness of robert california. i also don't think andy was over the top at all last night, so i don't see how he is replacing the michael scott character. I will give you that he replaced him only by how he had the losers backs.
  14. i love the james spader character. i think this could be a good season.
  15. its a great idea only because it would be very strong as a basketball league, right now with all the possible defections, i think trying to get some a-10 schools to join in is marquette's best option.
  16. latest rumors is that the big east and big 12 are talking about merging the remaining schools. you would be looking at a conference of: Kansas, Kansas State, Baylor, Iowa St, Notre Dame, Louisville, St Johns, Cincinnati, Georgetown, Nova, Marquette, Seton Hall, Providence, De Paul, TCU and South Florida obviously way weaker than the big east in its present form, but adding kansas and kansas state, would help the basketball presence of the conference.
  17. i think bringing in schools with the history of notre dame, georgetown, nova, seton hall, providence makes it better than the 2004 c-usa. it only works though if you get a-10 schools like xavier to buy in and join. the way things are moving there is going to be 4 superconferences with 16 team leagues that are football schools. marquette and these other schools are going to be on the outside looking in. the big east tried to improve their football by adding the teams it didn't and its not working. if marquette does nothing they are on the outside looking in.
  18. personally i like the idea. the big east loosing syracuse and pitt along with probably rutgers and uconn could mean the big east ends up like the big 12 is going to. Especially if Marquette can convince other basketball only schools from lower tier conferences but has a decent tradition of good basketball, to come aboard like Xavier, St Louis, Creighton, Gonzaga. etc http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/130122113.html
  19. reports online is that Nash was actually injured last night which means they couldn't even use him any more in this fued. CM Punk winning could have moved this fued along so much better and they could always give Triple H the COO position later. Its not like stipulations ever last forever in the WWE.
  20. got 50 dollar tickets for 5 bucks on stubhub, so i'm heading there on wednesday afternoon.
  21. much favorable interleague schedule. still don't know why its not announced until after the world series. I definitely am planning on making my first trip to us cellular field in june.
  22. i bought the reprint on si.com for 20 bucks. not too bad of a deal if you guys don't actually want the real issue. i just want it framed in my office.
  23. maybe that wasn't as good as his original promo last night, but it still was very good. the best wrestling promo's leave you uncomfortable even though you know its stage. for cm punk to leave character he definitely succeeded in that.
  24. and brewer nation rejoices, i was dreading the names, looks like Haudricourt was right that no top propsects were going. The mets fans that were saying its gamel and thornburg have to be disappointed. nice trade doug!
  25. just a huge marketing ploy which will probably work. i have bought enough shirts from the fan zone this season with their special edition jersey shirts, i'm holing out for nl central division champs gear (knocking on wood....)
