  1. It seems he has the energy of someone more younger. this is one of the funnier coach exchanges I ever read:
  2. Its official, Murphy is the choice, Rickie Weeks is associate manager.
  3. I agree, if the price is right, now a bad flier to take.
  4. yeah the bucks deal was sailed through pretty easy. Politicians are getting more creative in getting these done because for most a sales tax increase is a non-starter. I like the idea of trying income tax into the deal, because thats money that wouldn't be available if the team left.
  5. I havent't seen Weeks as the bench coach, just that he will join the coaching staff. I think many are assuming something that may or may not be true. Maybe its McKinven getting the bench role?
  6. He was DFA'd by the Nats today. He is guy that I have liked for a while and wanted the brewers to go after. I think they could do worse at 1st in 2024.
  7. Im sure it was mostly positive, we were all sick of RR also, so any change would have been well received.
  8. Once ownership said the entire staff was rehired, this was the only possible scenario. I hope McKinven is the bench coach and take over in 2-3 years
  9. He said he has been thinking about this for 2 years. The only thing I wonder is who approached who, since I don’t think the cubs planned on firing Ross
  10. If the Brewers want to hire Shildt why are they waiting for the padres to make up their mind? Unless we are his backup plan.
  11. First of all, if Murphy is the choice, I hope they go with a young bench coach to groom to take over in 2-3 years. CV just got promoted in the FO. I would be happy with Erickson. CV is a blank slate, not unlike Counsell, there is no intel on if he would be good or not (not necessarily a bad thing).
  12. No, it will be because Woody is it out for the year, their elite manager is coaching their rival and they know Burnes is gone next offseason. Its going to be hard to make one last run in 2024 now. Got to be realistic.
  13. this is great news. Sell off the high priced vets / soon to be FA's. let the kids play. Be competitive in a year or 2. Thats what the Brewers should be doing.
  14. Obviously with no knowledge I think it will be Erikson, Murphy or McKinven. I think the most likely will be Erikson or McKinven wiht Murphy as the bench coach unless he goes south of the border as well. If this was a true managerial search he would let the assistants look while the coaching search occurred.
  15. I agree on Donnie Ballgame. Also Kapler
  16. He isn't contract so he would be free to go, but if was under contract there is no way that the Brewers would let him walk to their biggest rival to work for the former coach that stabbed them in the back. Your premise is correct though.
  17. I would imagine it would be more attractive to be a manager, unless at 64 with health issues, he'd rather just be a bench coach with his buddy.
  18. I don't get the fascination with Weeks. Is it because we hired a former Brewers infielder and it worked OK? Is it we just simply liked him when he was a player? He may be a great manager, but there is nothing there to show that right now.
  19. That’s bs. How can you hire a decent manager if he can’t have any say in his staff and stick him with a bunch of guys loyal to the last. This is screaming Murphy is the guy.
  20. I would be shocked if the manager search started today. I also am sure there has been discussions since Counsell's contract expired last week.
  21. Counsell did a lot of good here and guided the brewers towards their most successful decade or so run of success. I wish he didn't go to the cubs, I wish the Brewers are not behind the 8 ball with such a late start to hire a replacement. Obviously, I won't cheer for him anymore but won't say anything negative now that his foot is out the door. Also how shouldn't the Cubs not be in trouble for tampering. They clearly were negotiating a contract for Counsell while Ross was still employed.
  22. CV was just promoted today in the FO to special asst to the GM. Seitzer is fine too
  23. He did OK with the cards, so I'm good with that.
  24. not sure if he is even looking at managing in 2024, but I'd like DeRosa. Id like to go with a younger, first time one rather than a retread.
