  1. It’s too early but the results are solid. Marquette can clearly get higher quality recruits than VCU. At Texas he was always #2. He will have whatever he needs at Marquette to win. The fact that he was able to put together this team with only 2 significant returning players coming back and almost all of his top Texas recruits followed him has me excited
  2. 2-0 in this stretch. This team is getting better down the stretch, unlike under the past coach where they always faded
  3. well when you have the reliever of the year 4 straight years, it helps. I agree the pen has been a strong suit for the brewers for a while now. I'm sure Hendo will do fine.
  4. I'd imagine carolina's manager is going to Appleton?
  5. This is a lot of revisionist history. They dfa’d him because they needed a starter, which bickford is not. Yes I’m sure stearns would like this back, but I don’t think anyone complained so loudly when the move way made.
  6. They have no “bad losses” so far which helps them. I agree with everything you said about the Creighton game. The good news is in the big east, there are plenty of opportunities for statement wins for the committee to see.
  7. Was a great win. Lights out in the 1st half. Shots didn’t fall in the 2nd but they still kept the energy on defense. Made enough clutch shots to win down the stretch. Losing that Creighton game on New Year’s Day stings, but if they can split these 6, they will be in great shape in March. All they have to do is win their home games during this stretch.
  8. and with a roster than only brought back 2 players that contributed last season
  9. Marquette's next 6 opponents are nationally ranked, obviously this stretch that starts tomorrow will be a good indication on how this season will go. Their final 7 opponents are currently outside the top 25.
  10. Peacock has been my preferred streaming service of late, their British suspense / murder mysteries shows have been great; Mr Mercedes, The Capture, Vigil, and the Fall all were filmed on the other side of the Atlantic and are fantastic. Watching Departure now, so far so good (half way through season 1).
  11. funny that the brewers passed on Adell (my preferred pick at that time) to take Hiura, only to have him go the next pick.
  12. me too, but there is way more money for the NFL putting a game in primetime Monday than a noon kickoff on Saturday. Plus they can do their Manningcast
  13. From all reports he was a co-pitching coach. The pen has been stellar since his arrival. I would think he had at least something to do with that. Yes, I'm sure there won't be this massive drop-off because he leaves, but I wouldn't completely dismiss this either.
  14. This was online yesterday but just saw it now. Its a big blow to the team as the pen has been great under his leadership. looks like Matt Erickson could be back in a brewers uniform though, as an assistant hitting coach. Good on him for putting family first though. Article mentions Jim Henderson as a possible candidate https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/brewers/2022/01/12/milwaukee-brewers-bullpen-coach-steve-karsay-leaving-position-source/9190033002/?itm_medium=recirc&itm_source=taboola&itm_campaign=internal&itm_content=BelowHomepageFeed-FeedRedesign
  15. Eric Weddle is unretiring to play for the Rams in the playoffs. How can this be allowed. MLB does it right. Not on the roster before 9-1, cannot be on the playoff roster. It doesn't move the needle at all, but still seems shady.
  16. its why I will watch the badger game that week if I can, and that's about it.
  17. i figured they were going to let the new GM figure out what to do with him, but at the same point, if you wait until then all of the top candidates will be gone.
  18. quiet black monday, but i guess with Gruden and Meyer getting the axe already and Fangio fired on Monday, it is an average year for new head coaches with 6 openings so far. Only surprise is Judge, but I don't think is job is 100% safe with a new GM coming in.
  19. college football has the least parity of any major sport (professional or college). We have been doing this 8 years and 4 programs have played in half of the playoffs at minimum.
  20. there was reports last night that one or 2 firings would surprise you, and this definitely does.
  21. yeah i guess i was confused on bird rights, but yes bucks couldn't compel Tucker to sign, but from his statements after signing with the Heat, I guess he was surprised the bucks didn't make a better effort. I posted this during the offseason, but it was pretty clear that the bucks had to chose between him and Portis, and I think they made the correct call anyway.
  22. Bucks had the right to match the Heats offer, if he wanted to stay here or not https://clutchpoints.com/bucks-news-controversial-reason-milwaukee-let-pj-tucker-walk-heat/
  23. I think that is a simplistic way to look at it. the bucks are over the luxury tax. I'm sure Giannis / Bud wanted Tucker back but ownership didn't want to pay the tax to match the Heat's offer. Money does play a large part in decisions.
  24. I think its because his contract would have been guaranteed and they would have had no roster flexibility moving forward without eating his contract. For a team with championship asperations, it seems silly over a league minimum contract, he was a model citizen here and played pretty well.
  25. they need a bridge coach, Caldwell won't take them to the promised land, but he will get them to respectability, kind of like what Ned did here.
